^ Welcome to pulse countrym12. Great first post. :) Thank you! I have been reading the board for a while and finally decided to join in on the conversation :) I have been a Kelsea fan for quite a while. While I do like this song, I am not so sure it is the best first single choice. The "love me"s are catchy enough, but the song overall may not be that memorable. Given that females are having a hard time breaking through right now, I just think she needed something that would leave a longer lasting impression. Being familiar with her music, I think she had plenty of stronger options that would have better highlighted her voice and songwriting talent. In any event, I really do hope for the best with this!

Heard this on Sirius XM---pretty catchy tune, but I am not sure if it is memorable enough to get her air play on country radio

Surprised she's Tennessee born-and-raised. Decent song, but it screamed of "pop artist trying to make things work in Nashville."
I also feel like this is yet another example of a fresh country singer relying on cliched, overly broad lyrics. For all the heat country bros take for their SUBJECTS, note that their songs are very often specific and vivid - they describe their scenery and situation in detail. They tell stories, even if the stories are vain and shallow.
Far too many female country songs are just generic love tunes.

These days being an Indie Artist like Kelsea, having SiriusXM The Highway back and play your stuff is gold. You can definitely sell a lot of digital downloads of the single that way. So good for her. The song is very catchy, it's very forgettable at the same time... but it'll do well on The Highway which will in turn help her sell some downloads for Black River, as far as her breaking through on Mediabase & Billboard I'm not sure. Maybe it'll get into the 30's but since it's her first single then I'd be surprised if if cracks 30. I could be completely wrong however and watch her get into the teens. HA I think it would go over better however as a Pop song, so they should consider doing a Pop Remix and pushing it to the Pop stations (sounds more like a Call Me Maybe type of song).

Bobby Bones played it this morning!
Possible hint that Kelsea could be the first female CC "On The Verge" artist in October?

I'm not so sure about that. That would be great! But in this case I think he played her because she opened for his Raging Idiots tour all weekend.

34 first week adds makes "Love Me Like You Mean It" tied for the third most added song this week on MB.

There isn't much about this that's "country," but I like this quite a bit. It's quite catchy and I love the melody. There are elements in this that remind me of "Leave the Night On" meets "Crash My Party."

Wow! Can someone help me figure out we're the 19 adds came from? Big, and random week. The entire Cumulus block added this one (they also added Gloriana's "Trouble"). It looks like a couple of other non-Cumulus stations added it too. Of course Billboard's adds system is different--an "add" means that the song has finally registered 7 first-time plays at a station during the tracking week, whereas on Mediabase a song can be added without having any plays yet. But still, any way you look at it, it was a solid week for Kelsea. I heard this song on the radio for the first time the other day and I really enjoyed it. I need to go back and listen to it some more, but all I know is that it was stuck in my head for a while, and I liked her voice a lot as well.

Whoa, "Love Me Like You Mean It" has a bullet of 207 on MB today and its up 180 spins and 1.0 million in audience since last Sunday.
This got the Cumulus block a couple weeks back but I don't understand why this had such a big week? I know Kelsea's debut EP will be coming out on iTunes on the 24th, but this bullet increase really took me off guard this afternoon.

And Kelsea becomes this year's winner of the artist who, despite being on the cusp of Top 40, is still so under the radar that I can't find enough sources on her to build a Wikipedia article...

Been too busy lately with the storm recovery too look it up so I had a feeling that Pulse would come through in the clutch once again. :)

Now that I've actually heard this, I think it's pretty good. It has a bit of a Kelly Clarkson feel to it.
Hope she gets enough ink for me to finally make a Wikipedia article on her.

I've actually gotten on board with this one. Hated it at first, but the more I listen, the more it sounds like a female version of "bro country" (in a legitimate way - not in the Miranda/Carrie combative way). Repetition in the chorus reminds me so much of Crash My Party.
But - what's the deal with that bit in the intro (on the Spotify version - maybe it's not on the radio version)? She mumbles something in a weird Hannah Montana accent. Doesn't fit the song at all...

Anyone surprised Black River is going to get there first female top 40 through this? I am stunned this is doing so well and all Kellie Pickler can do is scrap the top 50. Barring a crazy update tomorrow this will be easily top 40 on Mediabase.

Barring a crazy update tomorrow this will be easily top 40 on Mediabase. I'm not surprised at all about this cracking the top 40. Remember, Black River, though they might not have the name recognition yet, do have resources to promote their artists to radio. A billionaire owns the label and they have made no secret about sticking around. Kelsea had a good radio tour and it obviously paid off with the Cumulus block adding this one so early on. In regards to Kellie Pickler; Kellie's songs have leaned more traditional lately with "Someone Somewhere Tonight", "Little Bit Gypsy" and "Closer To Nowhere", whereas Kelsea's has more of a pop flare to it and is more along the lines of what's the trend on radio right now. Black River will have more success in the near future with artists like Kelsea and John King, rather than Kellie and Craig. Kellie's music just doesn't appeal to programmers and Craig is inching ever so close to that point where radio largely ignores him, no matter how good his music can be.

Well people have been wanting info on this mysterious gal and it seems the new Country Weekly has some. It says her hometown is Knoxville, Tennessee and that she grew up on a farm and at age 6 or 7, moved to the city. She didn't grow up listening to country music but instead listened to a lot of top 40, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bonnett. She started writing songs when she was 12 or 13. She couldn't really find any inspiration until she one day when she listened to Keith Urban's "Stupid Boy" . She went out and bought the "Love Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing" album and was hooked. She then proceded to listen to artists such as The Dixie Chicks, Sugarland, and Taylor Swift. She says that being introduced to country music helped her with her writing. She remembers seeing the girls that CMT picked for next women of country like Kacey Musgraves, Brandy Clark and Cassadee Pope and thinking it was such a cool group and that she is thankful to be a signed artist.
So yeah thats kind of a summary of what she says in Country Weekly. Not much, but what can you do. Still haven't heard the song but i'll get around to it.

Ecstatic that Kelsea is on the brink of the top 40. The best I can see LMLYMI doing is scrapping the top 25 but that would still be a huge accomplishment for a female newcomer. Also a shotout to Dylan Scott for promoting Kelsea on his own facebook page

I first heard this song when it came out. It was ok. I must say it's grown on me.
