Anybody see how her sales went after the Taylor tweet? Huge for Kelsey, wounded up having perfect timing with her video. USA Today among others wrote strories about her, just because of that tweet. Amazing the reach Taylor has. Ha, well there's a reason why I posted about it ;). Everything Taylor says or does gets major media attention. What helped here was that a lot of music publications had already identified Kelsea on their artists to watch lists, so they got to brag about "calling it." She and her team also seem really accommodating of press, and I think the media is, in turn, inclined to root for her. As for the boost, there was one, but it wasn't nearly what I would have hoped/expected. LMLYMI moved maybe ~10 spots on iTunes (but not into the Top 100), but "Yeah Boy," which was also hashtagged, isn't in the Top 1500. iTunes' album sales chart has been super glitchy lately, but the EP was up to around #160 when I checked last night. That is progress (it wasn't even in the Top 200 before the Tweet), but we're still talking about a very negligible sales gain. It's nothing like what BORNS got a few weeks ago (I believe his album went Top 20 or 30).

It doesn't seem to have grown the legs a usual TS tweet gets for a new artist.

I prefer that for evaluating singles since we get a better sense of how positional moves correspond to actual sales pace (thanks to sites like Kworb, Live Pop Bars, etc).

I really think this could be a decent-sized hit for summer if they were to release it pop sometime soon. Of course, it would probably need a "pop mix" despite it leaning more toward pop than country to begin with.

The Highway started playing "Dibs" as a Highway Find. I listened to her EP in full for the first time today and it would be down to "Dibs" and "Yeah Boy" (I think "Yeah Boy" is the better song) if I was calling shots at Black River for the next single, as they both follow the same exact feel as "Love Me Like You Mean It". "The First Time" is pretty good (she wrote that herself too, which is impressive), but that probably would be a all or nothing risk that I wouldn't take.
"Dibs" is basically an extension of her debut single, even to the select talking parts like "On you lip. On your kiss. On your time, boy I'm calling dibs. On your hand. On your heart. All mine."
I'm not too fond of the talking parts in "Love Me Like You Mean It" or "Dibs" but it's clear she incorporates pop elements into her music and radio is responding to it, so "Dibs" being next should be expected.

^ I hope they are not starting the push on another song already. This still has a ton of life left in it.
I love The First Time, but agree it is a huge risk to try a song like that in the summer. Also, agree the Yeah Boy is the better of the too, but Dibs is still infectious and fun and definitely has hit potential. But I hope they give it a few more weeks, cause Love Me Like You Mean It is guaranteed top 20, and should easily be able to peak in the top 15.

Usually labels tell The Highway (John Marks) what the next singles will be (usually during visits from the artists) and The Highway decides to play it right away. I wouldn't be too worried. I expect this to be peaking around May, which is when the full length album drops. This won't stall "Love Me Like You Mean It" at all, it's just Sirius/XM doing what they wish.

Does anybody know when her Track Listing and album cover will come out? figured it would've been out already knowing her album comes out on May 19.

Kelsea to present on the Radio Disney Music Awards....http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2015/04/01/fifth-harmony-carly-rae-jepsen-chelsea-kane-more-to-present-at-the-2015-radio-disney-music-awards/383124/
Right in the wheel house of where Black River wants her, so it is a good get.

:) I like the album cover better than the EP one. Though at first glance, the track listing looks like something out of a 13 year old diary, lol.

I'm pretty excited for Kelsea's debut album. I love the lead single and all of the other songs on her EP are great, too, especially "Dibs" and "The First Time," so I've got a good impression of her so far. Looking forward to hearing the rest of her record.

Basically what indulge said, but I love The First Time and Dibs, so I will refrain judgement on the songs till I actually hear them. Girl has star written all over her.

After going for adds in September of 2014, "Love Me Like You Mean It" becomes a top 20 hit on MB this week, landing at #19. It also becomes Black River Entertainment's third top 20 single, and first by someone not named Craig Morgan.

So what does everyone think is going to be the ceiling for this one? I am cautiously optimistic, but I feel this could potentially be the first debut single from a female artist to hit #1 since Carrie Underwood. I just have a good feeling about how this one has been doing. I'd really love to see this hit #1 though and end that ridiculously-long drought. Maddie & Tae reaching #1 late last year was a welcome change, and I would love to see that trend continue.

I think this will definitely go top 10. I'm not sure this will get all the way up to #1, maybe if Kelsea were on UMG, Warner, or BMLG it could make it, but being on Black River I'm not sure they have enough to get her much higher than top 10. I hope I'm wrong though as I love this song and everything I've heard from Kelsea. I definitely think this will be Black River's biggest hit to date though.

I hope I'm wrong though as I love this song and everything I've heard from Kelsea. I definitely think this will be Black River's biggest hit to date though. Do I think this will get to #1?, no. Do I think this will get top 10?, yes I think it can. However I've said this before; even though Black River doesn't have the prestige and staff such as the likes of UMG and Warner, they do have plenty of $$$. The owners of the label are billionaires and they have one of the best CEO's in the business with Gordon Kerr. The only reason "This Ole Boy" and "Wake Up Lovin' You" made the top 15 after 40 weeks was Black River. Heck they were able to keep "More Trucks Than Cars" alive for a a good long while - so much that it re-entered the chart after being sent recurrent. The only blemish with them so far is the inability to get Kellie a hit, though I really believe that the ultra country sound of her last album was it's downfall at radio, which is sad, and I still believe "Someone Somewhere Tonight" was a mistake for a lead single. Kellie's got new music ready to go this spring so hopefully she can get back to the top 30 at least. "Love Me Like You Mean It" gained 367 spins and 3.5 million this week and leaped Brad in the process. I think that her song, while approaching 30 weeks, still has at least 7-9 more weeks remaining in it, and that should be enough time to get a top 10 finish. Her album drops in May, so I know that Black River would like to keep this ride going for another two months and see where they stand from there. Things can change then - they might decide that they've gone far enough and not invest anymore (which I doubt) or they could fight til the bitter end (likely). Thing's are certainly looking pretty good though.

Radio is probably congratulating itself on having 3, I MEAN 3, NOT 1 OR 2, BUT THE HUGE NUMBER OF 3, females inside the top 20 as of this week. WHAT A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT, they should be proud Sarcasm aside, I'm really happy to see Kelsea doing so good right before the release of her album. As for the ceiling for this one... I think top 5.

"Love Me Like You Mean It" picks up two spaces to #17 this week with an audience gain of 1.8 million and a spin increase of 188. I still think top 10 has a decent shot of happening, but anything beyond that shouldn't be expected. Black River has done wonders with this one and I think a 34-36 weeks climb to the top 10 will be the ceiling when all is said and done.
BTW: "Dibs" is the next single as it was introduced as Kelsea's follow up single on The Highway this afternoon during their Hot 45 Countdown.

I actually think this has a high chance of going to #1. It's "only" 27 weeks old on Billboard and is on pace to make the top 10 just after Carrie Underwood's "Little Toy Guns" (probably early-mid May). There's just not a lot of tough competition in the teens right now so this one stands out for being an up-tempo, pop-sounding song that is selling well on iTunes and not testing too poorly for a female. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this stay on the chart for 40-45 weeks and come very close to the top of the chart.

I don't like this. The vocal arrangement is catchy, but the instrumentation and production sounds like pop music meets a female form of bro-country. In fact, I think this could be the most pop sounding song that country radio has seen in quite a while. While that isn't the major deterrent for me here, as I dislike the actual song, it doesn't help me tolerate it better. I see it's doing well on the charts, but I really hope this style of "country" doesn't catch on with other female artists in the genre. "Dibs" is definitely better than this, but I'm not quite on board with it yet. That one has potential to possibly grow on me though, whereas this one does not.

It's at #17 on MB this week and has been out for 28 weeks, so it's already been successful on the charts, though it can certainly reach a better level of success the higher it goes. I think it's going to be really difficult for Black River to keep this alive for a #1 peak. It makes sense for them to treat their label success as a process with one of their artist getting a top 10 single being next in line of that process. While I do think that they'll push this to the bitter end, I think that at some point there will be a decision to settle for a top 10 peak. This song was released in September, and the album drops on May 19th. Couple that with a song approaching 30 weeks, and satellite radio spinning the next single, I think that's the most likely scenario. Though +40 week chart runs have become the "norm" lately, so who knows.

The fact that it's about commitment shows at least some modicum of maturity, a factor sorely lacking in a lot of female newcomers of late. Recall my previous statement of how we have a lot of girls and not enough women. This has a strong pop slickness to it, but I find it distinctive and not overproduced. Very little of it is identifiably "country", but as with Sam Hunt, I don't get hung up on genre like some of you do. If it's making any noise in the genre that it's being shipped to, then that was probably the right genre.
