Excellent news! This is a good song and continues a streak of solid singles from Luke Bryan imo, because I also liked "Drink a Beer" and "Play It Again." At least for me, he's been making up for releasing the god-awful "That's My Kind of Night."

Sorry for not having an exact link to the exact page for the source but for some reason my computer freezes when I click on CMT's website, so I linked to the google page where the source is :). As already reported by fans at the New Jersey concert last Sunday, "Roller Coaster" will be the fifth single from Crash My Party. CMT has confirmed this during the #1 celebration for "Play It Again". The song will officially be released in July. I fixed it! :) It's good to have a thread for this, that way we can keep the discussion for PIA and "what's gonna be the 5th single?" in separate threads, now that the 5th single question has been answered. "Roller Coaster" is the only semi-good song I've heard from Luke since his last album. I just don't like the Crash My Party album at all. "Drink A Beer" wasn't too bad but it was underdeveloped lyrically and it burned on me very quickly--I mainly wanted it to succeed for Chris Stapleton's sake. I haven't liked the other singles a bit though. Despite being overproduced, "Roller Coaster" works for me though, so hopefully for once I won't have to switch stations when this one is in heavy rotation.

Favorite song on the album. Definite #1 in my opinion. Shouldn't take very long either.

Hell. Yes.
Adore this song, just so good in all aspects. Lyrically, vocally, melodically.

Good song, was one of my hopes for a single. Pleasantly surprised he went with this over Dirt Road Diaries (which is a weaker song but did offer the name for his tour).
I still think Beer in the Headlights is the most radio-friendly thing he has left, but maybe he wants to take a break from that whole vibe (plus, he already released a song with Beer in the title).
And that's what's crazy. People are ripping this album, but I think the three songs mentioned above PLUS "I See You" all could do extremely well at radio. It's pretty damn deep as far as singles go.

I'm so glad they went with this as the next single. "Roller Coaster" is by the far the best song on the album. His vocals are amazing, it's a great showcase song for him. Has a great story to it and a great late summer feel to it. Should be another multi-week #1 for him.

Love this song, and probably my favorite from the album. I always thought it should be a single and I'm glad it's happening. I just really wish they would've chosen "Out Like That" or "I See You" instead of "Play It Again". If we get a 6th single from this album, I hope he goes with one of those two.

Meh.
Luke sounds pleasant enough here, but the songwriting is about as painfully mediocre as it has been on his recent singles.
I'm sure it'll be a big hit, though.

Ohhh, I haven't heard this before but I absolutely love it. I haven't been crazy about this Luke era, although I loved Crash My Party and came to love TMKON after being beaten into submission by my radio, but I thought Drink A Beer & Play It Again were both mediocre to boring. This has a great mellow beat for me.
Just noticed Cole Swindell co-wrote this. Good for him.

It wouldn't have been my choice, but a lot of people seem to think it was the best option. I do like it though, just that I would have preferred a few others to this one. I have no doubt that it will be another massive hit, however.

Great song! Reminds me quite a bit of "I Don't Want This Night to End" and I adored that one. I like Luke's "rowdier" stuff as well, but he's really great at stuff like this. I think he's a pretty strong vocalist.

My favorite Luke Bryan single since I started following country music a few years back. Finally a song of his I won't mind hearing constantly.

While not exactly ground breaking lyrically, this feels more authentic and accessible than most of his recent radio singles. It actually surprised me quite a bit to see Cole Swindell listed as a songwriter. Hopefully this doesn't get lost in recurrent airplay for Play It Again and fall short of the top.

Not a bad song. Let's remember Luke has had quite a few good songs. TMKON left a real bad taste in people's mouth. I think they can go six deep and hopefully release Dirt Road Diaries, I like that song.

HOLD THE PHONE... this isn't terrible! The melody is even quite pleasant in fact. The lyrics aren't anything special, but they aren't cringe-worthy like "Play It Again" or just dumb like "Drink a Beer" and "That's My Kinda Night". I didn't mind "Crash My Party" at the beginning of the era, but everything since has been absolutely terrible in my opinion, so I'm glad that there's another decent song for Luke to release.
This will undoubtedly be another #1 for him, and who knows, maybe it will grow on me more and I'll even like it!

If that song left such a bad taste in people's mouths, why is he so damn popular now with every song he's released afterwards? Six singles would be smart but you never know they may have stealthily recorded a new record.

They said on The Highway today that "Roller Coaster" might be the final single from Crash My Party according to Luke, but there's still time to decide if they want to try as sixth. I could very well see Luke secretly recording tracks for a new album.

The record isn't even 52 weeks old yet but with the pace he's released hits, it would make sense to release a new single after "Roller Coaster" and drop an album for Christmas time.

I highly doubt that this would happen. The timing just doesn't work out well enough. Even if "Roller Coaster" only charts for 12 weeks (and most likely it'll chart for at least 15-16 weeks), that still takes us to the end of September at the earliest, but probably well into October. I don't see how he can fit in a lead single in late October and then drop a brand new album 6-7 weeks later.

I think he has enough momentum and support where he can release an album without the lead single having peaked yet. But with the Holiday break and all that, they will have a decision to make. Do they just keep rolling or do they hold off an make radio wait a little to build anticipation? If they wait a little do they want to have something on the charts for 6 weeks before the holiday break. I don't know. I think they should go six.

I don't really understand why people didn't like TMKON, is it just because it wasn't slow-like his other songs? I loved it, isn't it also the best selling song on the album? or is that Crash My Party.

Most of us have cited cliche and/or terrible lyrics, hip-hop beats, etc. as reasons for disliking the song.

It's lyrics were awful and cringe worthy (might have been the worst lyrics of 2013). It had a hip-hop beat with sub-par production, and Luke's vocals (who I actually think is a good vocalist) were the worst of his career by a landslide. Plus it was the poster child for the bro-country phenomenon. It was somewhat catchy, which is about all I can muster for the good when it comes to "That's My Kind Of Night". Did I answer why people like me didn't like it?
