Where do you want me to start? It's lyrics were awful and cringe worthy (might have been the worst lyrics of 2013). It had a hip-hop beat with sub-par production, and Luke's vocals (who I actually think is a good vocalist) were the worst of his career by a landslide. Plus it was the poster child for the bro-country phenomenon. It was somewhat catchy, which is about all I can muster for the good when it comes to "That's My Kind Of Night". Did I answer why people like me didn't like it? Amen to that. I'm liking RC more each time I here it. The melody and vocals are flawless to me. With the exception of Roller Coaster, TMKON is my favorite on the album. I can still jam to that one! Lyrically, it's 1000X better than Play it Again. If any song should be getting criticized most, it's that horrible, generic song.

The lyrics for PIA may be clumsily put together and awkward but I wouldn't consider them awful. TMKON on the other hand, is just plain terrible lyrically (at least to me).

"Play It Again" may be a far cry from a lyrical masterpiece, but at least it tries to carry out an actual story arc and has some progression in the song. "That's My Kind of Night," on the other hand, is faceless country stereotypes pieced together (very poorly, I might add) one after the other that say nothing of interest. And there is nothing worse than in the chorus when he randomly drops "row, row your boat" in a line about corn and the vocal effect and rhyme scheme on the line that follows is horrendous.

I think we can all agree that since TMKON Luke has been on an upward trend. While most on here didn't seem to like DAB I loved it, PIA is fair, just has that awkward lyric at the end that kinda takes away from the song for me, but it's still a world better than TMKON. Rollercoaster is a song that tells a story and gives me hope that once the bro-country trend comes back down to Earth, Luke will go back to recording more material like this.

The record isn't even 52 weeks old yet but with the pace he's released hits, it would make sense to release a new single after "Roller Coaster" and drop an album for Christmas time. I highly doubt that this would happen. The timing just doesn't work out well enough. Even if "Roller Coaster" only charts for 12 weeks (and most likely it'll chart for at least 15-16 weeks), that still takes us to the end of September at the earliest, but probably well into October. I don't see how he can fit in a lead single in late October and then drop a brand new album 6-7 weeks later. I don't see why Luke would be in such a hurry to rush out another album so quickly. This one is still selling really well, both with physical sales and digital single sales. The album will barely be over a year old by the time "Roller Coaster" peaks. The earliest I see them releasing a new album would be early summer next year sometime. Don't forget that he will most likely put out another Spring Break EP to help hold some of his fans over until the next album comes out too. As long as this song doesn't flame out fast, which I sincerely doubt, I say they should go for an unprecedented 6 singles. A sixth single would probably peak sometime in the first quarter of 2015, leaving plenty of time to take a break for a few months, and then drop a new album almost 2 years from the day Crash My Party came out.

I agree. Luke Bryan's Crash My Party is outselling his duet partner's Here's To The Good Times by Florida Georgia Line. I can see Capitol releasing six singles from this CD. The fifth single should peak this year while a sixth should debut late this year or early next year. I agree with the timing of another Spring Break CD (give it up, Bryan, you're pushing 40 and the kids you're singing to could be YOUR kids). Anyway, it isn't like Capitol has not released six singles from a CD before. They did it with Garth Brooks' 1995 CD, Fresh Horses. Those hits were: 1. She's Every Woman-1995-#1 2. The Fever-1995-#23 3. The Beaches Of Cheyenne-1996-#1 4. The Change-1996-#19 5. It's Midnight Cinderella-1996-#5 6. That Ol' Wind-1996-#4 Thank God: tasteofcountry.com/luke-bryan-miley-cyrus-duet/

@ people saying TMKN is better than this and/or defending it. If no one else will say it I will; people willing to defend atrocities like TMKN are the reason why this genre is such s*it shape right now LMAO.

@ people saying TMKN is better than this and/or defending it. Or you know, maybe people just have different tastes. Not everyone likes the same thing. If no one else will say it I will; people willing to defend atrocities like TMKN are the reason why this genre is such s*it shape right now LMAO. I don't think it's the people defending it. It's the people buying it. There is an audience for this style of music - the evidence is there. Most people just wish it wasn't the country genre.

Those who like That's My Kind Of Night weren't real country music fans in the first place. I know it's not my cup of tea. To each their own.

Created a cover for this single using the official PR Image for the single. Used his logo and then the same font branding for the "Crash My Party" album.

You may not find a bigger LAW fan on these boards then me. I grew up on Strait and still jam to to him more than anyone. And I liked "That's My Kind of Night." Please don't make general statements like these because I guarantee you there are always exceptions.

The only 'country' elements in That's My Kind Of Night was the Conway Twitty reference and the catfish dinner. Did I miss any others? I think indulgecountry will give you a run for your money in the Lee Ann Womack department.

Not based on whether or not it adheres to one potential definition of "authentic country." Chipotle isn't "authentic" Mexican food, but it's still good. And virtually every descriptive lyric in the song is associated with southern imagery, so I'm not sure why you're singling out the Conway and catfish references. I personally don't like the song - and I'm a huge Luke Bryan fan - but I don't think it's the abomination some claim it is.

I found a post in the That's My Kind Of Night thread that parallels my comment from above. Ready? In short, I have to say I agree with Zac's sentiment. Luke and company had to know going into deciding to record and release "That's My Kind of Night" that there would be some backlash. There's no doubt there was probably a discussion about the impact of this kind of song. It's too soon to know for sure, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say Luke isn't winning himself any fans in the music industry by releasing this. Sure, it's selling and making him and Capitol lots of money, which in the end is the bottom line. The program directors at the radio stations will play it because, well, the radio stations are now all nothing but shameless corporate plugs (hence the ever nonstop and endless iHeart radio ads on every station). Needless to say, though, Luke is possibly digging himself a hole with the industry and this is exactly the reason he won't win Entertainer of the Year at this years CMA's. This isn't to say I don't like Luke...I think he is genuinely a nice guy and I have nothing but respect for him as an artist. But he has a choice in the music he decides to record and then release. What kind of career does he want? From my eyes I see an artist who is selling out to a demographic that the tried and true country fan won't be there for at the end of the day.

another dreadful song from an artist that has long lost his way in terms of artistic integrity.

Can I just say I am so happy this song ended up being a single! I was worried it would never see radio and end up being in the category of awesome album cuts that never get released. I'm sad that Dirt Road Diaries might end up in that category, but I'm still hoping that if they decide to do a 6th single they will release it.

I'm a little upset the music video for "Roller Coaster" doesn't feature a roller coaster, but I've come to expect country music videos to not really follow the lyrics as much as they did in the past.

I really like the music video, but I agree, why not put Luke on a roller coaster or Ferris wheel at least while he's filming his part? I still think this is one of Luke's best songs, the best since "Someone Else Calling You Baby".

I'd have been happy to see them just standing in line for a roller coaster or at a carnival with one in the background as the younger couple's scenes were going on.

I loved the video! For a country song, the video is decent! Also, the song is clearly inspired by Panama City Beach (Thomas Drive), and isn't that roller coaster shut down now? Or at least I've never seen it when I've gone over the last couple of years. Anyhow, I'm surprised they released it so soon. Kind of perfect for summer though. Damn, this is gonna be huge. Get that Pop/HotAC-crossover, Luke!

This song is already top 100 on iTunes all genre after just debuting at 60 on the airplay chart. Not sure if this song can eclipse "Play It Again" in sales, but it's already off to a great start. This song is going to be a huge hit.
