I found a post in the That's My Kind Of Night thread that parallels my comment from above. Ready? In short, I have to say I agree with Zac's sentiment. Luke and company had to know going into deciding to record and release "That's My Kind of Night" that there would be some backlash. There's no doubt there was probably a discussion about the impact of this kind of song. It's too soon to know for sure, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say Luke isn't winning himself any fans in the music industry by releasing this. Sure, it's selling and making him and Capitol lots of money, which in the end is the bottom line. The program directors at the radio stations will play it because, well, the radio stations are now all nothing but shameless corporate plugs (hence the ever nonstop and endless iHeart radio ads on every station). Needless to say, though, Luke is possibly digging himself a hole with the industry and this is exactly the reason he won't win Entertainer of the Year at this years CMA's. This isn't to say I don't like Luke...I think he is genuinely a nice guy and I have nothing but respect for him as an artist. But he has a choice in the music he decides to record and then release. What kind of career does he want? From my eyes I see an artist who is selling out to a demographic that the tried and true country fan won't be there for at the end of the day. Oh. I get what you were saying now. At first, I read it as you saying that anyone who likes "That's My Kind of Night" can't be a real country music fan, and that's way too much of a generalization to make and it isn't a fair statement. But I get what you meant now.

This might grow on me. But then I thought that about "Play It Again" too and that song only became more and more grating to me due to the awkward lyrics at the end of the song. What RC has going for it is a very pleasing melody that I could enjoy singing along. But there is something very odd and awkward about the lyrics again for me. I'm not sure what it is yet. I'm thinking that the metaphor just is not working for me. The song just doesn't seem like it is crafted very well to me. So time will tell if this will be a "grow on me" type of song or a "grate on me" type of song.
One thing I can say for sure is that compared to "That's My Kind of Night", this song is a lyrical masterpiece.

Anyone know if the full 4:19 will be released, or will there be a radio edit?

So what is the add date for this? The music video is already out but there's still no add date. Weird!

It's already charted (#46 this week on BB) and was added to 11 stations on MB this past week. "Play It Again" is getting heavy recurrent play, so I assume that Capitol is taking it slightly slower with "Roller Coaster". It might still get an actual add date this month, but I'm figuring that this will get quite a few adds over the next two weeks anyway.

Love this song, but radio is already playing it every 5 minutes...I'm afraid they're going to ruin it for me.

So apparently July 14 (this coming Monday) is the official adds date according to the ad in last night's Country Aircheck. It doesn't specifically say 'July 14' but it does say "42 stations already riding the Rollercoaster a week early" and then asks for immediate adds/airplay, so the adds date is basically a moot point anyway but if any date were to be the 'official' one it would seem it's July 14.

I think it's safe to say the add date was in fact yesterday. :)

My gut instinct is telling me this will be the last single from the Crash My Party album. With new Kenny, Jason, and FGL on the way, there's going to be a lot of competition near the top of the charts. I know Luke would still be able to chart well, but his sales might finally start slowing down with all the other titans selling well. I would love to see "I See You" get released, because I think it's one of the top songs on the album, but i'm not giving my hopes up. I bet this peaks in October with heavy recurrent play to follow, we will get a new spring break EP in March, and a brand new single near the beginning of summer to lead off a new album. Again this is just a hunch that I have.

Great song. One of his best. Surprised that after TMKON, he pulled a hat trick with me.

What a complete 180 from a year ago. This time last year Luke was out with my least favorite song of the year ("That's My Kind of Night") and Jason Aldean was rocking out with one of my favorite songs ("Night Train"). Fast forward to the summer of 2014 and the tables are turned...Jason has one of my least favorite songs of the year and Luke is out with my favorite release from his album.
I took a trip down to South Padre Island the other week and heard this song quite a bit. It was the perfect song to jam out to while driving out on the open road. I'm really enjoying this Luke for a change.

Again this is just a hunch that I have. Totally see that. I could also see him going for the rare sixth single. This looks like it's going to be a winner, and there are still so many radio-friendly songs left to explore (I See You, We Run This Town, Beer in the Headlights). Of course, they might also want to rest the Luke Bryan brand for a little bit to make sure he comes back red-hot on the next album. Really no reason he couldn't do 750K+ sales and a first week Top 20 on Mediabase with the first single when the next album drops.

I'm so in love with this song, it's actually starting to freak me out. This is "Do I"-type Luke Bryan and it's so, so, so much better than any of the singles he's put out for the past 7 or 8 radio releases.

Yeah, this is my favorite Luke Bryan single since "We Rode In Trucks" or "Do I". So refreshing to hear him finally release another quality song!

This is really, really growing on me. It wasn't my initial choice for the next single, but now it's becoming one of my favourite songs at radio. So much better than "Play It Again"!

I knew this would be moving up fast, cause it is Luke after all - but man this is really moving up fast. It moves from #28 to #19 on Mediabase with an 800 bullet. It should move to #15 by my prediction from #21 on Billboard, with two recurrents (Jake, Tyler) and leaping four other songs (Chase, Miranda/Carrie, EYB, Swon Brothers). It's been charting for just 6 weeks on Billboard and just 5 on Mediabase. The fact a fifth single can rocket up the chart this fast is pretty remarkable. It's also the first time I'm not cringing at seeing a Luke song fly up the charts so fast since this is my favorite release by him since his debut album.

Yeah, this is absolutely flying. Probably the fastest rising fifth single that I can remember in a long while (even faster than "My Eyes", I think). This should have no trouble getting to #1, and ahead of some first/second singles by some pretty big stars. I think that they can keep milking this album for as long as they want to. It hasn't even been out a year, and single #5 is already in the top 20. That's pretty incredible.

Impressive chart run on the airplay chart so far:
60-46-34-30-21
For the record, I have mentioned Roller Coaster in my weekly column for its entire run so far.

The speed at which this one's going suggests that he will get a 6th single or already has a lead single in the can from a completed album recorded stealthily.

Unless he has another lead single ready to go by year's end, I could see as many as 2-3 more singles from this album. As long as they keep flying up the charts like this, and the album continues to sell like it is, there's really no reason to stop.

But I can totally see them already having a finished product (or nearly finished) ready to go for Christmas shopping season (or even a hold-over Greatest Hits project -- Old School I know but it'd sell). If they did the GH project, they could even include a track like "I See You" as the 'single' from that project and maybe one more (a song like "Your Mama Should've Named You Whiskey" from the "Deluxe" edition?) that could be 'singles'.

This song has had a unreal chart run for a fifth single. Over the past three weeks on MB, it has accumulated over 2,100 spins and roughly 15.2 million in audience - and it's only 7 weeks old (9 total on BB). It will most likely be up to #13 come tomorrow evening's final numbers on MB, which is where it's at now on the rolling chart. I do expect this to be in the top 10 on both MB and BB next week. Luke is definitely one of the two hottest things going at country radio right now, with Blake being the other.

It's just insane right now how big he is. I'd probably say the same thing about Blake and maybe FGL as well. As for the song, I've been hearing it ALOT recently and I'm not sick of it yet. Always a good thing.

I'd say in addition to Luke being the hottest thing on radio right now, the other reason why this song is doing so well it that it just sounds perfect for radio, and especially makes sense for the current season were in, with summer coming to a close and Fall starting up soon. When this album came out I always thought this was one of the most radio friendly songs on the album, and that's saying a lot because almost the whole album is single worthy. I'm really curious to see if they go with a 6th single. If Luke doesn't put out a 6th single for this album, then I don't think we will ever see an album with 6th singles in the near future.

Yeah, this just continues to fly up the charts like crazy. I'd be pretty surprised if there wasn't a sixth (or even a seventh) single. The album is barely a year old, is still selling like crazy, and the singles are still flying up the charts. Barring a new album, or a GH package coming out unexpectedly, this album still has a lot of life left in it.

I think if you're as hot as Luke is on the charts right now, you HAVE to push for a sixth and/or seventh number one. Saying you had 5 number one singles off an album is quite a feat, saying you had 6-7 is elite status imo.

That's My Kind of a Night peaked at #2 on Billboard, so he'd have to release 2 more singles to break the record, presuming Roller Coaster peaks at #1 (which it should).
