Does anyone think Luke has been recording? He's been touring pretty consistently and won't finish up until the end of October. He just announced dates for early next year. Could this mean he will release one more single from this album to get us through the winter, spend some time on new material and then release a new song early next year?
New singles from this album have come out pretty consistently every 4 months (with the exception of Drink a Beer, which followed up That's My Kind of Night after just 3 months). Which would mean we should get a new single at the beginning of November.
Between his last album and this one, he went from August 2012 to April 2013 without releasing a new single. However, he was featured heavily in Aldean's That's The Only Way I Know, which was released in November 2012.
If it were up to me, I would release:
Dirt Road Diary -- early November
new single -- early April
2nd single with new album -- late August
The timing is kind of funky either way. If he does two more singles, that kind of pushes a potential album release back late in the fall, and also assumes a fairly quick rise up the charts for 6th and 7th singles (when was the last time a contemporary country artist released more than 5 anyway?). If he does one more, there is kind of a gap between the single and new material, but that may be good to build up anticipation.
I can't see them just releasing a new song now unless they are targeting a Spring album release (which would be atypical, right?) or releasing two singles before the album (which I don't see happening that often).
If they do release another one, I hope it's either Dirt Road Diary or We Run This Town. Both songs have a similar feel and I think they would be very successful on radio over the winter months. Sales-wise, Roller Coaster is dangerously close to Gold certification already. I'm betting a 6th single would hit Gold sometime late summer (probably after a subsequent single was released). For an album to go 2x platinum itself, have two 2x platinum singles, two more platinum singles and two gold singles...that's a lot of sales.
