#553. Boyzone - When The Going Gets Tough 2 weeks at #1 in 1999 (#33 of 35 for '99)
Ah, the first of many entries from Boyzone. They (and Ronan Keating) are always so hit and miss for me. I either really like their songs or really dislike them. This is one of the latter, obviously. It doesn't help that I HATE the Billy Ocean version of this song, and generally despise Billy Ocean's music. I don't know why, but I just find his songs incredibly annoying. Boyzone's version is more tolerable than the original, but it's not enough to make me like the song.

#552. PJ & Duncan - Let's Get Ready To Rhumble 1 week at #1 in 2013 (#30 of 30 for '13)
Surely the most shocking #1 of the decade so far? I just don't get this. It's rather cringe to me.

The Monster not #30/30 :( Maybe it's not #30/30 because Let's Get Ready To Rhumble BIG TRASH and The Monster is a BIG HIT.

#551. Sam Bailey - Skyscraper 1 week at #1 in 2013 (#29 of 30 for '13)
I'm not a big Demi fan, and her version is so screechy, but this song is so deeply personal to her. It has a huge meaning, and she expresses so much emotion in her version. She's really broken when she sings it. Sam Bailey expresses no emotion whatsoever. This is the definition of boring cruise ship karaoke. It's an utterly bizarre, and I'll even say utterly stupid, song choice for a winner's single. It just doesn't work knowing the context. Sonically, it's a typical X Factor winner's single. Insert key change. Insert choir. Yawn. I actually like Union J's version better.
Alright, it won't be so cover song heavy after this point. And that should be it for X Factor winner's singles for a while, since I don't mind the other 5 so much.

The Monster not #30/30 :( Not 29/30, either. I couldn't justify it being lower than those 2.

oh Skyscraper is completely fair, I wouldn't be surprised if I'd put it lower myself.

I *love* this list. So original. If for no other reason than to see "All Summer Long" get dragged.

#550. Busted - Crashed The Wedding 1 week at #1 in 2003 (#20 of 22 for '03)
So my least favourite of their four #1's. The song is simple - he regrets letting this girl go; so he crashes her wedding and steals her back. And that's really it. It's a bit *too* simple for my liking. The lyrics don't explore much emotion and I wind up not really feel any sympathy towards him. It comes off as like a 13-year-old regretting letting go of his crush. But they're not 13 years old since the girl is getting married; unless he's dating a girl way older than him (which would just make it even more awkward.) So the childish lyrics don't really work. And I don't find it that believable that this girl would so easily call off an entire wedding to go back to her ex. I know it's not meant to be a super serious song, but that awkward feeling is always there when I listen to this.
lol at this blocking "Me Against The Music" tho

#549. Cee Lo Green - F**k / Forget You 2 weeks at #1 in 2010 (#33 of 34 for '10)
A song that mainly became a hit because of its excessive use of expletives. It attempts to be humours, but I don't find this funny so much as I find it annoying. I especially hate his whiny "whyyy" and "I love youuuu" crying on the bridge. This also feels a bit too upbeat for a song about being so angry. Cee Lo has revealed that this song is actually targeted at the music industry. Lol.

#548. Aloe Blacc - The Man 1 week at #1 in 2014 (#16 of 16 for '14)
My least favourite #1 of 2014 so far. The Elton John sample doesn't work for me here. Especially since “Your Song” is so overdone. “I'm the man, I'm the man, I'm the man; Yes I am, yes I am, yes I am” is one of the laziest lyrics I've ever heard. How long did it take to come with that? I think this song is trying to define what it takes to be "the man", but it just comes off as him trying to justify his own arrogance (especially with the repeated "this is my world"). I find it re-enforces gender stereotypes. I don't see how being a leader makes you "the man." And why worry about a label, anyway. This song just rubs me the wrong way.

#547. Michelle McManus - All This Time 3 weeks at #1 in 2004 (#27 of 29 for '04)
Well, I guess there more winner's singles; just not X Factor! Ummm... how does this go again? It's so indistinguishable from other coronation songs. Actually, it's indistinguishable from any song. There's no hook. She sounds pretty bland singing this. There's literally nothing to this song.
Michelle won the second series of Pop Idol. Her next single peaked at #16, and fell back into irrelevancy shortly after. Wonder why...

#546. Peter Andre - I Feel You 1 week at #1 in 1996 (#22 of 24 for '96)
What a snooze-fest. He's also trying too hard to sound like Michael Jackson. Nothing else to say on this one, though.

Okay yes at someone else not liking "Forget You" or "The Man". I agree with the rankings so far. Also, I am from the South and I still don't understand the appeal of "All Summer Long". It's weird that it was a UK number one though.

It's almost like a bro country song. Idk.

It just seems weird that it hit number one in the UK lol.

#1 in Australia, too. I think it could've gone #1 in the US if it was given a digital release tbh (since Kid Rock didn't want his songs on US iTunes at the time for whatever reason.)

I didn't know that. It probably would have because those cheap cover versions took off in sales as well. Thank goodness he didn't want his songs on US iTunes.

It still doesn't make any sense... It's a COUNTRY song for God's sake... Trying to think of other country crossover hits in the UK Cruise.. that charted at #75 lolz Need You Now peaked at #21; then randomly re-charted 2 years later and re-peaked at #15 Taylor Swift doesn't really count; all her big hits were pop songs (Love Story + the entire Red era) LeAnn Rimes had a #1 with "Can't Fight The Moonlight", but that's basically a pure pop song (and I'll talk more about it later ;) LeAnn Rimes also had a major hit with "How Do I Live" Carrie has yet to have a song chart there "Amazed" peaked at #21, but had a lot of longevity Faith Hill randomly had a top 3 hit with "There You'll Be" Does "Wake Me Up" count? lolz Tim McGraw was on "Over And Over", which went #1 "Cotton Eye Joe" went #1 lol Edit: remembered another one. "Follow Me" by Uncle Kracker went to #3.. that kinda counts

^ Most of those are good. It's a shame that Carrie hasn't charted. And lol at "Wake Me Up". I guess it would count? I don't know. All I know is I'm beyond sick of it. And lol at "Cruise" being a flop.

The UK probably doesn't realize how lucky they are. Not having to endure "Cruise" being a hit.

#545. James Blunt - You're Beautiful 5 weeks at #1 in 2005 (#24 of 25 for '05)
5 weeks.. yikes. I found this way too dreary then; and I still find it way too dreary now. So this song is about this stranger he ran into for about 5 seconds in the middle of his day. They didn't exchange any words, just a quick glance. He knows he'll never see her again, but he thinks he's meant to be with her forever. And so now he's going to commit suicide because he can't have her. Talk about being a drama queen. It's just so over-the-top and ridiculous. You can't bare to live your life without this girl you know NOTHING about. Right. That "f**king high" line feels so out of place.
