I have to say I'm fully enjoying this! And also disagree about it sounding so '2011'. I think it's more in tune with the whole 'bringing back the 90's dance vibe' at times (laser effects and some other bits I heard). But that's just me. At any rate, I like it.

The production and chord structure of the new song reminds me of Cher's "Woman's World". Sadly, the production is just so-so. I like the vocals and the lyrics though. I do hope we get a nice throwback to 90s House remix for it by someone like David Morales, Disclosure, Eric Kupper, or MK.

I could easily think it was Demi Lovato, especially on the chorus, very Neon Lights-like.

I'm torn. I really love the intro and outro, but Zedd's production as a overall lacks something for me, especially in the chorus and the beat breakdown after the bridge, which it's so expected. Ariana's vocals are good and although it tends to be generic, I have to say that this is a grower.

Her vocals are on point. The beat is on point. I like switch from a R&B/Pop single to a EDM jam.

I don't love this as much as I did when I heard Problem and The Way for the first time, but this will be a grower for me!!! IT'S STILL REALLY GOOD!!!

The song sucks. It only highlights how basic her voice is. The chorus is weak.
That being said, I'm sure pop radio listeners will love it.

There's a lot of generic songs that pop radio loves, but they're usually at least really catchy and easy to remember. Like Roar for example. This on the other hand is in one ear, out the other.

The chorus is a mess (I don't like that "I don't wanna" part at all - it's attempting to show off some attitude that I'm just not buying), but I really, really like that she largely stays in her lower register on the verses. She has such a gorgeous lower register, and unlike when she goes high, she can actually enunciate in that range.
Yes, those saying it's generic are right, but that's Zedd for you. It's actually really funny that Zedd's beats tend to be so generic and unimaginative given that, unlike so many other DJs who are just great typists, he actually has classical music training.

This is hot. Great job, Ariana. It's gonna get all the kids in the beach house fist pumping and jammin' all week! Summer smash! At least she's breaking free of Mimi's shadow. Mimi would NEVER. It ends way too suddenly and makes me want to replay it over and over.

Kind of disappointed. I would have been OK with generic if the chorus was actually catchy. It just seems like the chorus breaks the momentum of the song instead of lifting it up. The "i don't wanna" and "break free line are both great by themselves, but the chorus just seems to have poor rhythm when heard as a whole.

Sounds like a Selena Gomez reject. If Selena was doing this song, I could buy it but not from Ariana. Problem was very generic too but its still felt like it was Ariana and not someone else and very much in line with her style. Hmmm has all the makings of a fast rise fast fall chart run similar to You Da One.

Ok I like this a lot more than I expected from reading the comments here. Generic, sure, but it's still solid. The first breakdown is very basic and the worst part of the song. The second is better, but too long, and not a very good ending. Love Ariana on this, definitely the best part of the song.

There's no one thing that 'pops' - not her voice, not the synth, not the bass. It's all the same volume - the treatment on her voice actually blends it down into the mix - so it just doesn't feel like a standout. that's especially irksome on the hook which is the very thing that should jump out at me. And yes, I am also rather confused about why they went back to 2011 for this ("Better Left Unsaid" did 2011 so much better...why can't they just release that? #nuRadar). But on the plus side she's pretty much the ONLY person going back to that well for hits at the moment, so unlike 2011, this song will actually stand out. This is no Problem, but it will likely be a hit.

The final chorus really makes the song. It's not spectacular or anything but it's a great summer jam and I could see myself blasting it in the car.

I don't hate it, but it's a typical zedd song, nothing more.

I don't see it on iTunes, is it on there yet? I heard it here: billboard.com/v/News/ArianaGrandeDropsZedI think It's really good! It's nice the song focuses on Ariana's vocals, and there's not much Instrumental break. Side note: She kinda sounds like Rihanna on the chorus imo.

This is one of the most generic and lifeless songs I have heard. Like, jesus, she is supposed to be the new big star could Zedd not at least give her one of his better works? That being said, I am sure a general radio audience will lap it up.

Generic as f**k. Gay anthem. Catchy as hell. Love it more than I thought I would. The outro is the most "Zedd" Zedd has sounded since his golden days. Hate it all you want, but it's a hit. Bye! BThere's no one thing that 'pops' - not her voice, not the synth, not the bass. It's all the same volume - the treatment on her voice actually blends it down into the mix - so it just doesn't feel like a standout. that's especially irksome on the hook which is the very thing that should jump out at me This is, ultimately, the biggest problem I have with it, but it's also typical Zedd (and modern EDM) to blend liberally. That, and I wish she could've maybe been a bit more thoughtful than, yaknow, Zedd. She's still up and coming though, so I'll give her a pass. He's a hot commodity right now, and she's in the business for hits-- let her live! That said, much as he's been used lately, not sure I follow the 2011 complaint. Someone mind explaining this to me? This sound is still landing people hits on radio; so maybe it first started in '11, but it's still holds interest so can we really act like it's "dated"?

Come on Ariana! Really??? The R&B/Pop sound is your niche that makes you stand out from all the other current pop girls! She's capable of so much more than this generic song! Anyone can sing this, and it really doesn't showcase her vocals at all! Hopefully this is the only generic EDM song on the album.
