Best of luck to Jessie. Bargain bins in the US are filled with albums by strong vocalists. She has already seen that, outside a couple singles, she is relatively unknown here but hey, things could change. We've made massive stars with FAR less talent brought to the table, so anything can happen.

Clips of the album are available on iTunes.
In a nutshell, it sounds like Republic made sure she recorded some surefire singles ("Bang Bang," "Burnin' Up," "Sweet Talker," "Keep Us Together"), and let her put her usual schlocky, bland midtempos and ballads around them. The only other song I like, besides the songs I already mentioned, is "Seal Me With a Kiss." She STILL isn't singing material that is worthy of her voice, but I guess it's a small step in the right direction.

Apart from "Bang Bang" (which I'm beginning to tire of, tbh) I'm only feeling "Seal Me With A Kiss"; I'm actually REALLY loving this from the snippet. Who produced it, do we know? It must be using a sample.
Anyhoo, the rest of the songs sounded generic and lame to me. This album sounded like a Demi Lovato album really with a dash of Miley Cyrus... just not my cup of tea. Shame 'cause I was kinda hoping she would finally get it right this time around.

"Seal Me With A Kiss" samples "Me, Myself, and I" by De La Soul.

Her American accent is on point and hilarious! Also that little impromptu singing while showing how to do the dance showed the power of her voice

Not all strong singers are meant to be album artists, I guess. Oh well. I will continue to enjoy the occasional bop from Miss J.

^The first paragraph of that review completely sums up my thoughts about this girl. She tries so hard and IDK, she just doesn't seem believable as a popstar. It also doesn't help that the vast majority of both Who You Are and Alive was trash. Trying to go into Sweet Talker with a different mindset, but the reviews/opinions I've seen don't give me much hope.

The album isn't even close to being good, but it's still her best work. I can hear that she made a conscious effort to try and tone down some of her irritating vocal habits. "Sweet Talker" MUST be a single. I'm actually surprised it wasn't selected as the second single.

That review hit the nail on THE HEAD. She tries soooo hard and everything she does sounds so labored, heavy and overdone. If she would loosen up and have some fun and taper down the production some, I think she would be so much better off.
This album is just as weak as her other ones IMO. I can't make it all the way through.

I've yet to hear the album but Burnin Up deserve to smash so fucking hard....even if it has that 2 Chainz rap.

"Seal Me With A Kiss" is seriously my shit right now!! I'm obsessed. It reminds me of those bouncy R&B up(mid)tempos with the rap on top that Mariah did in the latter part of the 90's. But yea the rest of the album sucks.

That ABD performance is stellar. Beyond me how she can waste a voice as good as hers on such s*it material, though.

She's just a storm of wasted potential. I can count on one hand the amount of great songs she has. Which, considering the money POURED into her, is absurd.

Thanks again for another PERFECT post, Jack! Seriously though, I will always defend Jessie as a vocalist but I can't get behind an artist who continuously makes shitty albums. They are REALLY trying to make her happen in the US though, God bless em but, overall, it ain't happening outside of a few singles. Some people don't even get that, so she should consider herself lucky. It's not like Cheryl Cole ever had a song blow up on US radio. Jessie has had...what...THREE US hits now and one of them solo. Plus, talent show wannabes/nevergonnabes STAY singing her songs, including ones I have never heard before, so at least she is respected.

Sorry not sorry for the double post but based on the clips I just got around to listening to, I am sold on the deluxe. Her voice has really grown on me and she is one of those artists who I think "S/he can sing the phonebook" applies. MUCH better than Who You Are. OMG she isn't in the Best Buy circular but The Game, Swon Brothers, and other randos are. She is going to have the flop of the year. It's not even in the ITUNES Top 40. NO one is checking for Jessie!

Yeah, the new promo singles sound unappealing... the singles are good though.

She did a really good job at Dancing with the Stars with the Bang Bang / Burnin' Up performance... But most importantly I really like her comments and attitude as a guest judge. She's being candid and fun :)

'Said Too Much', 'Strip', and 'You Don't Really Know Me' are my favorites other than the singles. STM really stands out to me.
