- At least JT got to spend a week at #1 or else he would've suffered the same fate that "Team" got (which as of the midway point of the year, is the only official Mediabase #1 to not hit the top spot). - With "Timber" falling out, "The Monster" becomes the oldest song on the countdown
GUEST HOST ALERT: Ed Sheeran subs for Ryan next week, Jennifer Lopez subs in two weeks.

As with recent weeks, the previous week is still airing currently on iHeart. Do you know if there will be a delay in this airing?

Can't wait to hear all the Casey tribute stuff they've got planned.
With all the changes they've made, of late, to the iHeart station, it would seem as though they've gone back to Thursday for switching over to the new show. Last week, we didn't get it until Thursday morning. This week, it's Wednesday afternoon and the 6/14 show is still playing. I kind of liked getting the new show on Wednesdays.

Side note, FWIW: On the corresponding (overall) Mediabase chart, "Can't Hold Us" finally exits the Top 40 there after 62 weeks - also a year to the week of hitting #1. :O

When are they going to post the Casey tribute show? It may not be a separate show, but rather a bunch of reminisces and Casey clips in this show, perhaps in lieu of the regular celebrity talk and promotional bits.

When are they going to post the Casey tribute show? That's a separate 2 hour show that's being offered to the 70s and 80s affiliates.

Jennifer Lopez - First Love I believe that's her first completely solo hit since 2007.

Justin only spends a week at #1. On the Mediabase chart, he spent 2 weeks on top.

Yes, check out this thread over at the AT40 Fun & Games forum: at40fg.proboards.com/thread/4018/special-tribute-casey-hosted-kerriKerri and Mike Kasem have released, through Premiere, a 2 hour special called A Tribute To The King Of The Countdown: Casey Kasem. Kerri and Mike share their memories of their dad and covered many highlights from his long career (lord knows when they found the time to put this together). There are, also, a few special guests offering their remembrances of Casey. I listened to it this evening and quite enjoyed it. Looks like stations will be airing it at various points from now through 4th of July weekend. Check it out if you can.

The iHeartRadio AT40 channel started the new show around midnight EDT Wednesday night.
And good news. It's the U.S. version.
The bad news is that they're back to filling time with extras that are not part of the show. And, of course, they skipped #30-28.
And, as before, they skip the first three optional extras. I suspect they'll be played just before midnight as before.
The new show started with a brief tribute to Casey Kasem. And there were Casey clips throughout the show.

Hmmm. #30 is airing now. Hopefully the earlier skip was just the one time. Going to watch out for a later skip though...

That explains a lot. Any key differences between the two, though? (Particularly this week.)

OK.
I remember that some weeks there's an extra in the U.S. version that's not in international, but that's not the case this week so I wondered if there was something else.

That explains a lot. Any key differences between the two, though? (Particularly this week.) Pretty similar this week. The international version always cuts out promotional announcements Ryan does at the ends of segments. And often some (non-optional) extras are missing. Adele last week. Hot Chelle Rae the week before. On the iHeartRadio AT40 channel, I'm sure you've noticed the difference in the way they handle the two versions. Segments are often missing in the U.S. version. And optional extras are messed up in both, but in different ways.

They've switched back to the international version. :( Well, at least with the international version, they don't skip entire segments. Why that's a, persistent, problem with the U.S. version is anyone's guess. May as well stick with international if that's the only version that they can play correctly (minus the optionals, of course). Finished listening to this week's show. As far as the tribute to Casey goes, based on how the show was promoted on All Access, I was expecting a bit more. As you’d expect, the show opened with Ryan eulogizing Casey and, then, playing his signature sign-off, “Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.” Other “Casey moments” that were played: From 1970: Casey’s introduction from the very first AT40 From 1983: Casey introducing Madonna’s first top 40 single, “Holiday” From 1998: Casey introducing Britney Spears’ first top 40 single, “Baby, One More Time” From 1978: Casey reading the very first long distance dedication, Neil Diamond’s “Desiree” The show ended with Ryan saying a few more words about Casey and his sign-off was played, again, to close the show. That was pretty much it. I suppose it's better than nothing. Also, as Ryan, typically, does around the mid-point of the year, he told us the top 3 of 2014, so far: 3. Timber 2. Counting Stars 1. Dark Horse

Iggy Azalea becomes the first female rapper to hit #1 as a lead. There was Lil Kim on "Lady Marmalade" but wasn't the lead performer, and neither was Lady Saw on "Underneath It All" or Missy Elliot on "1,2 Step."

It's sad that Casey Kasem is gone. I loved listening to his classic '80s countdowns every Sunday. Yet, I'd loved to hear one of his countdowns from 1998-2003, but no one even cares about those shows anymore, because I can barely find charts from 2000-2001.

However, it seems Ryan DID when he was mentioning this fact (Oops!). And, saying that Lil' Kim wasn't a lead on "Lady Marmalade" is, also, false. The label gave all four performers -- Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, and Pink -- equal credit as leads on the track, there were no featured performances.

I thought he was never wrong. "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" did hit #1 a while after "Lady Marmalade" did, so Eve WAS the last female rapper as a lead to hit the top.

We get back-to-back OneRepublic and Sam Smith on the countdown. Also Na Na and La La songs, and 3 question songs in the top 10 at #10, 5, and 3. Assuming that Turn Down For What is actually a question.
As to Casey Kasem, this was a very anemic tribute to him, but it's understandable considering the current audience, and that Casey last did this show over 10 years ago. Casey didn't seem to fit on a TV episode of American Top 40 which aired in the early part of the Seacrest era, when he made a guest appearance. I wonder why Mike Kasem didn't take over for his dad. He must have had prior commitments.
I listened to the loving tribute show with Mike and Kerri Kasem. Now that was really good. Lots of songs were played, most of them well-chosen with some connection to what was being discussed. Ryan, Rick Dees, and Shadoe Stevens all gave short tributes. We learned that Casey loved baseball, and his adopted name, Casey, came from Casey At The Bat.
Things now go back to normal with Ryan at the helm, and those old AT40 shows from the 70's and 80's still being aired elsewhere. What foresight that they were preserved!

Ryan, Rick Dees, and Shadoe Stevens all gave short tributes. We learned that Casey loved baseball, and his adopted name, Casey, came from Casey At The Bat. Great stuff, indeed! I managed to record it, yesterday, when it aired in the Classic AT40 iHeart station (so, no commercials).
