New Nickelback track 'Edge Of a Revolution' will be the first rock single of the upcoming album. It will released to radio in August.

Nickelback has always been a favourite of mine, so I'm excited. Though I'm sure this thread will be flooded with the (all their songs are the same) haters soon enough. I'll be ready to defend them, I guess

Apparently it's a politically infused song and it's a 'departure' for Nickelback. Can't wait.
"Standing on the edge of a revolution."

lol, we are ready for you haters! By the way it will be a rock single so we can expect a sound similar to bottoms up or this means war but with no sex/drug related lyrics

Ryan Peake should quit Nickelback and form a new band that makes what Nickelback can't do anymore.

Lyrically their rock singles may have veered too far into the sex and drinking side of things (excluding "This Means War") but you can always depend on them to deliver a straight up rocker. I mean if a much cooler/respected band released "This Means War" or "Side Of A Bullet", they would of been hailed as classics.
I can see this song being catchy but heavy. The rest of the album I'm not so sure. I hope they don't start doing the electric pop crap. Mid temp ballads and heavy rockers is where they excel.

Are they pulling a Theory of a Deadman?
"Because of You" is their only good song.

Are they pulling a Theory of a Deadman? I doubt they'll go full rock, I'm sure there'll be plenty of softer songs on the album.

Are they pulling a Theory of a Deadman? "Because of You" is their only good song. Go listen to the entirety of their "The State", "Silver Side Up", and "The Long Road" albums, not just the singles. Because this post tells me that you haven't, and I know based on your general music taste that you would like them. And if you have listened, then you do like them, and you're pretending not to just to be difficult and to blend with the popular opinion, because that's what Nickelback haters do.

All the Right Reasons is their best album because the non-single tracks are decent enough, I guess - "Follow You Home", "Side of a Bullet", etc. But every single Nickelback single is atrocious - except for "Everyone Cared".

I have to agree with this suggestion. Nickelback's old stuff was very good and it bothers me that most people only know them for their sappy singles. They are indeed worth a shot.

One of my favorite album tracks from Silver Side Up (and Curb as well I suppose):

You can't hate this one. It's heavier, it's not poppy, and it's pretty solid lyrically with a great "F*CK YOU" message to men who abuse their spouses. People generally forget about "Never Again" because most of their rock singles have become cock rock.

I'm the biggest advocate for heavy Alt here again but seriously f**k Nickelback I'm starting to wonder, man...what DO you like? And you ignored Cody's question/point about The State, an album that anyone who enjoys Pearl Jam or Alice in Chains would most likely enjoy.

What about Dark Horse, don't you like any song from there? IMO it is their best album

It was the softer radio friendly stuff that got me into the band but I do love the older stuff. Especially tracks like "Leader Of Men" and "Too Bad".
They leaned way too heavily on cock rock songs in Dark Horse and even Here & Now. I hope the new album has more tracks like "This Means War" and "Just To Get High.

I've always hated this band. I'm surprised to see so much love for them here. I thought they were one of the most universally hated rock bands of all time. Case in point this AMAZING parody:
Are they not the most generic "testosterone" infused rock and roll trash I always took them for?

I don't know enough of Nickelback's discography to have a full, informed opinion. Most of their mid 2000's singles (Rockstar, Photograph, Savin' Me, Far Away, etc.) were played to death and I can't stand hearing any of them anymore though.
I don't understand how this band became the "most hated" band in the world though. I'm not a fan of them, but there's much worse groups out there.

Very impressed by the amount of people coming to the defense of Nickelback in this thread. We're officially better than the country forum, lmao. We're defending arguably the most hated act on our format, while all they do is trash the big country names.

My favorite single by the band remains "Too Bad". I was really surprised the band/label only worked two tracks at Active Rock from "Here and Now".

Everyone needs to give "The State" a listen from beginning to end, just so they can discover what was once Canada's best kept secret.
