Hopefully this rebounds. Isn't it's sales and streaming doing well. This should be getting better updates.

Lmao #shade! I think This Is How We Do would be doing better if Birthday had never been released, and they just waited out the onslaught of Dark Horse to subside before pushing TIHWD as a 4th single around June. Why do some labels rush singles (like Birthday, when Dark Horse was still a Top 10 streaming monster) and some labels let songs play themselves to death (Sara Bareilles Brave) and then the 2nd single fails to impact?

ITA - on the DH longevity and no need to have pushed another single so quickly. Birthday could've been 4th single in June with TIHWD set up for Sept for 4Q push. I still don't understand why they rushed the "Birthday" video when the lyric video was doing so well. Not really sure what the strategy for TIHWD is at this point. Did the Remix have any impact aales or airplay?

DH is an exception in so many ways, seems that it's bizarrely going to overshadow this in airplay too.

So do we sense three/five under-performing singles this era? Didn't see that coming.

Maybe radio feels a little Katy'ed out. Though this song is holding it's own regarding sales/streaming considering it's a 5th single. I don't think it deserves to slow down yet.

Could Katy finally be falling from Cloud 9?
She was gonna have to face this realization just like all the other major pop girls anyway.

I didn't like this song until I saw her concert. Seriously, nearly every song I didn't like I started to LOVE during her concert. I hope this does decently well so we get another single push.
Honestly, I love Legendary Lovers, but I think Walking On Air is the way to go after this.

This definitely would have done better if they had never released Birthday and put the promotional efforts they put into Birthday into this. No big deal either way though. I wonder if there will be a next single or a re-release. I swear someone told me there would be in the Fall?

It's either Legendary Lovers or Walking On Air. They haven't decided. Or "Katy" hasn't decided, lol.

Could Katy finally be falling from Cloud 9? She was gonna have to face this realization just like all the other major pop girls anyway. Roar and Dark Horse do not signal a fall from Cloud 9. And it would tough to make an argument regarding the other songs because they're so vastly inferior to the Teenage Dream singles. It's easy to assume those singles were just doing well because they're Katy Perry singles, but they were also all damn good, radio-friendly, catchy songs. The PRISM singles just aren't. I mean - Birthday or TIHWD vs. Last Friday Night? Unconditionally vs. Firework? Just no comparison...

That's kinda what I was talking about in some other thread. The 5 singles off TD were #1 records to begin with.

Not to derail the thread but I never understood why ET was so massive. California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework - #1 records, okay. But ET???

I don't think Uncondicktionally or This Is How We Do are bad songs, but I think most people were at least expecting Legendary Lovers.

I totally agree. I'd even switch out Unconditionally for like Double Rainbow. Wasn't that the original plan?
