This hasn't even charted yet? When's the last Sony single that took this long (6 weeks since add date now?) to chart? I personally despise this song so I'm not sad at all, but I can't believe this is bombing so badly. It spent a week at #60 a few weeks back, but the release schedule has just not been kind. Over the last 1-2 months, we've had weeks where 700-850k was needed just to reach #60, and that's just insane. Usually 400-600k is good enough to get on the chart. I would normally have expected Logan Mize, Toby Keith, John King, Chris Janson, and Striking Matches to all be within the top 60 right now, but there are simply too many songs out right now. I love this song. I think it's absolutely hilarious, and I love that it's an actual country song with actual country instruments (can we get more songs featuring harmonica, please?) And given that it sold well over 100,000 copies from SiriusXM airplay alone last year, the fact that it's been lost in the shuffle at terrestrial radio is simply mind-boggling. But again, I attest that to the overcrowded release schedule (ever since CRS, really) and the fact that Gary Overton's departure from Sony likely did the new artists (not just Logan, but Cam, The Swon Brothers, Casey James, Josh Dorr, and Steven Lee Olsen too) no favors.

Oh I can believe it's doing poorly but that's mostly due to the massive amount of chart competition. Logan had an extensive radio tour and got a decent amount of first week adds but March/April was just so brutal to lots of artists singles, it's not just Logan. John King, Waterloo Revival, Cam and Josh Dorr are some that have had different levels of struggles due to the sheer amount of singles from stars and newcomers alike being released to radio right now. It's unfortunate for sure, but sometimes this happens in the world of radio.

Being a Sirius subscriber I have been hearing this song for quite a while and it never gets old. This just sounds like a Summer smash and it is a shame that it won't be.

I'm really curious with all the competition to even get on the chart what Sony will do here? Is it worth putting in more money for a song that may not even get back on the charts? Or do they pull it despite the buzz it had and try with something else?
I just don't want Logan to be a one and done Sony Special... (Ben Rue, The Lunabells, Brent Anderson, Adam Brand, Kristy Lee Cook, Caitlin & Will, Chris Janson, Bradley Gaskin, Wade Bowen, Tate Stevens, Bush Hawg)
Same situation for Josh Dorr, Cam, and Steven Lee Olsen honestly. Sony seems so fickle and willing to drop their artists at first sign of danger that I'm worried for all of their careers...though I don't care for SLO so far so if any disappear I'd prefer it to be him.

I'm not optimistic about "Can't Get Away From A Good Time." It's unfortunate too as Logan's timing couldn't have been worse. They might give this a couple more weeks but it's not looking good right now. Also, Bush Hawg was two and done ("Crushin'", "More Than Corn"). Though the latter had a pretty short lifespan, lol.

"Can't Get Away From A Good Time" looks like it won't be doing much more as it hasn't even appeared in the Billboard New and Active the past two weeks and was only just over 1.0 million on the May 18th chart. I took a gander at its leaders page ( here) on All Access and you can see how bleak it really is. The highest audience total out of the 20 leaders is just over 90k and no station that has added Logan's song has it higher than 19 total spins. Plus most of its spins are in the overnight hours, while common, is still disheartening nevertheless, and with the over jammed charts, this one was doomed from day one really. The Highway has starting spinning "El Camino", which is off his new EP, Pawn Shop Guitar. CountryMusicRocks.net has the premiere of the lyric video for "El Camino" and signs are pointing to this being his second single, whenever "Can't Get Away From A Good Time" is done. I'm so sad that this song isn't smashing. I think it sounds like an obvious hit and quite frankly I haven't been so stunned about a song not taking off since radio flat-out rejected Dierks Bentley's "Bourbon In Kentucky". I mean, I know that Gary Overton left Sony, but still...here we have a super radio-friendly song from a major label artist, and that's not even mentioning the fact that it sold over 100,000 copies from SiriusXM airplay alone.
I honestly feel like this one should be doing about as well as Chris Janson's "Buy Me A Boat". This song would be an easy Gold hit, possibly even Platinum, if it were to get a lot of airplay and become a big radio hit. The sales success from satellite radio alone proves that. I mean, it's basically the same situation that we saw with "Cruise" and "Chillin' It". The only difference is that those songs are 'bro' songs and Logan's isn't 'bro' at all (thank goodness); rather, it's really traditional-sounding, but that certainly didn't stop it from selling extremely well last year when The Highway was playing it a ton.

Logan's EP is quite good (I believe all the studio versions are up on youtube), and I think Better Off might even surpass Used Up as my favorite thing Logan has recorded - great, great song. El Camino on the other hand...is basically sellout 101. Straight up bro country equipped with obnoxiously loud production, massively auto-tuned vocals, and downright sleazy lyrics. I like Logan a lot, but not if he serves that to radio.

Logan said that "El Camino" is a song that people either love or hate, and I'm more on the latter myself. The production is an automatic turnoff and the lyrics are just nonsense. It sounds like those guys that just rely on their car and don't give a rip about the girl. Logan has proven that he's an outstanding songwriter but "El Camino" is the first misstep for me, but with my luck, that will be the step in the right direction for country radio.

Logan has the potential to be a star, in my opinion. I think he has some great material already on his catalog. The opening riff on "Nobody in Nashville" is awesome and I really think "What I Love About You" on his most recent release has hit potential. Hopefully he finds the right formula here soon.

I would't doubt that El Camino ends up as a Highway only song. They had to play something else since they've been on "Can't Get Away..." for over a year. Lyrically I wouldn't call this song Bro-country at all if anything its a jab at bro. Listen to Logan talk about the song HERE. he wrote is from the perspective of the Matthew McConaughey's character in Dazed in Confused. It takes a little sense of humor to appreciate this one. I agree the rest of his EP is much stronger and Used Up which I think he wrote by himself may be on tf the best songs I've heard period in the past few years. I hope it gets life as an FM single.

Love Logan and this song. Gotta love radio politics. If Blake Overplayed Shelton sang this it would be a #1 hit though...

Re-enters at #58 on tonight's Billboard chart (yay! a new peak!), despite a slight decrease in audience. The main reason it got back on the chart is because we've finally seen a decent amount of songs going recurrent over the last month or so, and as a result the chart isn't quite as backed up (it's still backed up, but just not quite as bad). This week is the first week since Monday, April 6, that the #58 song has had less than 1 million in audience.
I'm just hopeful that a few programmers will open their Billboard update and be reminded that this great song is still out there..
