I had a feeling if they were gonna go with another single then this would be it! Im really glad it is the single because i truly love this song! I just hope she can get in the top 10 again. This song is so stong and i hope radio doesn't screw up and not play it!

What do you know? They actually choose probably her best shot for the second single; for a second I thought they might pull a MHCTYN.
If country radio still played women, this would be a top ten hit easy. Since they dont, I will say it will take her at least 30 weeks just to make the top 25 if they even push it that long.
Should be an easy nominee for collaboration of the year though.

I am slightly surprised by this choice, because "Put My Heart Down" seemed like the obvious one to me. That being said, this is still an excellent option! I am not sure that it will find a home on country radio, but I would love to see it be successful! Sara needs to keep her #1-on-every-album-except-her-first streak alive!

There's a single edit to this song that has officially been sent to country radio that clock's in at 3:12. The album version is about 20 seconds longer.

Yes! Words can't describe how excited I am for this! This is one of my faves on the album and one of the best choices they could've made. Hopefully the unconventional duet aspect of this helps give this an edge in popularity and it can be a big hit for her. At any rate, I'm just glad the long wait for the second single is about to be over since they've FINALLY announced it. I was beginning to get worried.
I'm already looking forward to the video for this one, too. It should be a great one.

it's about time for a new one! Slow me Down came out in September, RCA really pushes her singles to death don't they?? I'm glad, but thought they could've gone with "put my heart down" as the new one.... This is a great song for today's market

Good vocals by Sara on this one per usual, but this song is so forgettable. I can't see this doing much on the charts.

I like this song but I don't expect it to do well. The break in between singles and the fact that not only is it following only a mildly successful single on an album barely selling, but it is another ballad and this time with a duet partner who has no ties to the Country format.
I would love to see this do well, but I expect it to have trouble reaching the Top 40.

Why does RCA always have such long gaps between singles? I was worried that this was going to be another Love & Theft, where it took them like three months after Angel Eyes fell off to even say what the followup would be.

I would love to see this do well, but I expect it to have trouble reaching the Top 40. Is this a ballad though? I guess in a way it seems like a ballad because of the lyrics, but it's actually got a lot of tempo to it. I expect it to pretty well because of that. It's definitely not as slow and/or dark as the likes "A Little Bit Stronger," "My Heart Can't Tell You No," or "Slow Me Down." I was hoping for a straight uptempo like "Put My Heart Down" or "Sweet Spot" next, but I love this song and think it's at least a step in the right direction. As for the duet partner: we've seen that method has worked before. It's not destined to fail because of that, imo. In fact, it may draw more attention to the song by way of hype and fans of The Fray, i.e. And the sales for the album aren't that bad considering how the lead single did and the lack of a follow-up hit thus far. I'm sure sales could and will rise if this becomes a hit. Why does RCA always have such long gaps between singles? I was worried that this was going to be another Love & Theft, where it took them like three months after Angel Eyes fell off to even say what the followup would be. Or with "Anywhere"

I'm excited for this to hit radio, the lyrics are very clever & interesting. Plus Sara really belts it out. Would love to see her do this live at the CMA's or ACM's. As for radio - I have such a hard time predicting anything Sara releases. Her chart runs have always been interesting! I think with Isaac Slade (The Fray) it's going to get some hype for sure. I could definitely see it making appearance on Adult Contemperary or maybe even Hot 100? Also can't wait for the video:) Go Sara!!! (And Isaac)

It just hit me that the extended time it took them to announce and release this single could've been because the label needed permission from Isaac Slade/his label/etc. for it to happen. There may have been some behind-the-scenes stuff going on in that department that delayed this single a bit, which to us would just look like they weren't doing anything. It makes sense though because I know that acts being on different labels has kept other collaborations from being issued to radio in the past, and they'll need to work out getting together to make a music video and maybe some promotional performances or something in the future.

Could be. But RCA should have been better prepared for the follow up to Slow Me Down. Once that went recurrent, Can't Stop Loving You should have been ready to go. A lot of time passed for Sara Evans to get her name back on the charts.

This probably doesn't mean much, but it could point to more laziness on RCA's part. As of right now--a week before adds date--the only online source confirming that adds date (July 21) is AllAccess. Neither Billboard nor Country Aircheck makes any indication that this is going for adds next week whereas the other new releases (those from Dean Alexander, Maddie & Tae, Canaan Smith, and Lucy Hale) are listed in the "going for adds" section of either BB or MB, if not both. We've also had plenty of advertisements for Dean, M&T, and Canaan (and even ads for artists that are on really small 'secondary' labels), but not really anything for Sara.
Basically I just can't figure out why RCA hasn't contacted Billboard and Country Aircheck to have the adds date for "Can't Stop Lovin' You" published in each publication's "going for adds" section. It's so simple and tons of radio stations and PD's subscribe to the BCU and CAW issues in order to keep updated on stuff.

I like Sara, and the song, but I don't have high expectations for this, mainly based on the reasons that austin and jhomes87 have already stated. It's a slower song with someone with no ties to the format, doesn't really sound like what radio is playing these days, there has been such a big gap between this and "Slow Me Down", the album is selling next to nothing and, as of now, RCA doesn't seem to be doing anything to draw any attention to this (how hard is it to get your song placed in the 'Going For Adds' list of the major publications?). I really hope I'm wrong, but right now I think this song has a lot going against it. I'm hopeful for a top 40 showing, and I'd be really happy if it does a lot better than that.

Okay, apparently RCA has pushed "Can't Stop Loving You's" impact date back a full month to August 25th according to All Access. Now I believe this might have a lot to do with the Garth (RCA promoted) and Jason debuts next week and not wanting Sara's adds to be affected by them, but it still is disappointing that this song (which I was skeptical would succeed at radio to begin with) will have to wait another month to hit radio. It might very well end up being a better time in terms of less competition, but it's going to be well after "Slow Me Down" went recurrent.

It's disheartening that this has been pushed back a whole month, but I'm gonna try to be optimistic about the decision and believe that it'll be to her benefit given the excessive chart crowding happening right now. Given that its release was already announced after a sizable gap following "Slow Me Down"'s departure from the charts, I'm torn. I really want this to succeed and unlike others, I do think this has a lot of potential at country radio to be a hit.
At any rate, this push-back would likely explain the lack of "going for adds" adverts for this.

I hope RCA knows what they're doing. That's a long, long time for Sara not to have a single out from a very new album

No brainer there. You're right. But the irony is: what promotion does Garth's song need? It's going to race up the chart no matter what RCA does to promote it. Unless they are going for a high debut, which is something they've already shown they can do with a Garth song so why bother, they could afford to work Sara's song until Garth needs conversions to heavy airplay. Which is maybe in September, no later; in other words, right at the beginning of Sara's chart run thanks to her getting pushed back. I don't understand the thought process. But maybe they delayed CSLY for non-Garth reasons.

Why is RCA doing this? Slow Me Down fell out over a month ago; the followup should be at least ON THE CHARTS by now, not delayed a whole 'nother month.

Bummed the add date for this was pushed back. I guess I need to let patience settle in, ha. My favorite song next to "Sweet Spot," off of this album.

Well now there's no add date set for "Can't Stop Loving You". It was taken off All Access' Future Releases page, along with the Cool New Music page. I went to Music Row's website and they had removed it there as well.
I don't quite know if they pulled it. Pulled it for another song off Slow Me Down. Or are simply changing the add date again, which I doubt. Confusing and disheartening to say the least.

Really?

Really? I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes with RCA. It's almost comical at this point. I don't know what to say other than hopefully there will be another single actually sent to country radio off this album. Chris Young's "Lonely Eyes" being put on the same add date might be why this is happening, but if that was the case, I'm sure it would have just been moved a week ahead or behind August 25th and not taken off completely.
