My GOD is Tae a babe... In all seriousness, the video is fun, but a little underwhelming. As I wrote earlier, the role reversal thing was the obvious, predictable direction for this - I was hoping for something a little bit more clever. But it will still make some waves and help give this song a streaming boost. Plus, the two 100% come off like stars here, even if the production is a little so-so. It is weird that they did a release deal with NPR of all outlets, though. I know NPR has been writing a lot about this song, but so has EVERYONE else.

That video is fantastic, creative, humorous, and completely representative of the song. I love it, and I love the spin they put on it: rather than sticking to the exact storyline of the song, that reversed the gender roles.
I'm so, so happy to see this making such a mainstream splash. This even got a nice plug on The Today Show this morning!

I don't think there is anything that can stop this song from being a smash! CMT video of the year nominee! I really like their country (not pop) sound and their modern look. What a beautiful pair of young ladies!

This is going to be huge on the video Countdown shows. Perhaps the only video that will be able to unseat Carrie and Miranda on GAC. Hilarious.

Love the video! Great concept and the whole thing was very well done. It reminded me of the music video for "Wildflower" by The JaneDear Girls, as well, which I also loved.

8500 views so far on YouTube. Not awful, but not groundbreaking either.
By the way, what's the deal with Tae's name? Her Twitter handle and Facebook account clearly suggest Tae is short for Taylor. But I've seen so many write-ups calling her Taelyn or Taelynn, I believe based on the fact that she used to perform as Taelyn Elizabeth.

They were immensely talented songwriters and musicians and I just flat-out loved their debut album. They had a unique style but I was definitely a fan and wish they'd stayed together and been able to make more music. But, whether you like them or not, my point was only that the two music videos were a bit similar.

#50 on Mediabase today and the video must have been posted somewhere important because it's up to 160K+

#50 on Mediabase today and the video must have been posted somewhere important because it's up to 160K+ Which means they should be up to #47 tomorrow with Jake, The Band Perry, and George heading for recurrent land. Perhaps #46 depending on how much further Gloriana falls come tomorrow.

I loved most of the video. Obviously the change-role thing is a win, and the red-red-red-redneck crazy editing is great too, but the faces they are making during some parts really bothers me. Strange, because most of the time they're natural and having fun, but sometimes it's just too much. Really good, overall.

This is fantastic! The lyrics are clever and fun, the chorus is catchy, and their vocals are great. I really like the message they're sending, and I truly believe they have what it takes to make a difference. Not necessarily end the bro country movement, but change it for the better. And the video was perfect!
Really looking forward to what else these girls have to offer and seeing how this song's run plays out. I hope it hits!

Agree, they don't need the very literal, frequent eye rolling to make the point.

I'm a bit worried that this song will be treated like a novelty song. The industry will figuratively pat these girls on the head with a "Aren't they cute", but move on without really getting it.

I'm a bit worried that this song will be treated like a novelty song. The industry will figuratively pat these girls on the head with a "Aren't they cute", but move on without really getting it. Then almighty $$ talks I guess. If people buy the song, if they get attention.....the industry will be willing to listen to their next song, which of course needs to be great (both radio friendly and of substance) to keep up momentum. I think that is why this song has a radio friendly (in this bro/rock/rap country climate) sound which of course some have pointed out goes against the anti-bro theme. But they are a female act trying to gain a toehold and not everyone can do it the Kacey Musgraves way- multiple industry awards with marginal radio play. They are going another way, which I hope works for them. I love the video-it is what I expected but it is well done and gets the message across with humor. The exaggerated eye rolls fit; they don't bother me since they are consistent with the outlandish parody feel of the video. And if they wanted to be more true to life, the guys would be knock-outs, just like the women objectified in videos. But making them the everyday joes in country bro who fantasize about the Barbie women in the songs makes it more gently funny, as well as pointing out the absurdity of applying the disgusting phrases like 'sugar shaker' and 'money maker' to the majority of women who, just like the guys in this video- don't look like models. And I find no fault with Maddie and Tae's appearance-they certainly look attractive and made up (which is just fine if women want to do that) but not in that sleazy way so often portrayed.

Hey - Tae has TWO facial expressions. Don't forget about that scrunched-up-nose "aww yeah" face she also does!
In all seriousness, I'm surprised there's any criticism about THEIR work in this video. They're both very comfortable on camera -- far moreso than Taylor Swift was at this stage of the game, and definitely moreso than Kacey Musgraves is (who looks a lot stiffer doing the eye rolls and stuff in her "Follow Your Arrow" video). They're obviously not that dynamic, but very few female country performers are. Carrie Underwood had months of live performances on Idol to get ready, and it still took her a long time after that to get expressive.
They come off like stars here - Tae moreso, but that's more due to her having a more striking overall look (it's not necessarily that she PERFORMS better than Maddie).
If there is a fault in the video, it's the directing/cinematography. I get that they're trying to recreate the Boys Round Here setting (probably others, but that's the one that came to mind), but it's weird that the girls never seem properly focused/centered on camera.

The reception to this has been impressive. I figured this would be more, "Murder on Music Row" and less "Long Time Gone" for its reception.
