Tae is extremely attractive, in fact both are, that's gonna help them succeed. Now whether looks helping an artist is a good thing or not is a discussion for another time.

Talk about connecting! This is #11 Itunes US.. and #1itunes in a few other countries. . Wow. NR It's #11 on the iTunes country chart, not the all-genre chart. That's still really good, but I thought you meant #11 all-genre, which would be absolutely incredible. This is rising quickly though. The top country songs on iTunes right now: 01 "Burnin' It Down" - Jason Aldean 02 "Dirt" - Florida Georgia Line 03 "American Kids" - Kenny Chesney 04 "If I Die Tomorrow" - Florida Georgia Line (from the Motley Crue tribute album) 05 "We Goin' Out" - Chase Rice 06 "Drunk On A Plane" - Dierks Bentley 07 "Bartender" - Lady Antebellum 08 "Leave The Night On" - Sam Hunt 09 "I Don't Dance" - Lee Brice 10 "Somethin' Bad" - Miranda Lambert & Carrie Underwood 11 "Girl In A Country Song" - Maddie & Tae12 "Sunshine & Whiskey" - Frankie Ballard 13 "Beachin'" - Jake Owen 14 "Roller Coaster" - Luke Bryan 15 "Play It Again" - Luke Bryan 16 "Yeah" - Joe Nichols 17 "This Is How We Roll" - Florida Georgia Line f/ Luke Bryan 18 "Meanwhile Back At Mama's" - Tim McGraw f/ Faith Hill 19 "Ready, Set, Roll" - Chase Rice 20 "Where It's At" - Dustin Lynch 21 "Day Drinking" - Little Big Town 22 "Who I Am With You" - Chris Young 23 "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight" - Cole Swindell 24 "Small Town Throwdown" - Brantley Gilbert f/ Thomas Rhett and Justin Moore 25 "Party Boots" - Jon Langston 26 "We Are Tonight" - Billy Currington 27 "Cold One" - Eric Church 28 "Bottoms Up" - Brantley Gilbert 29 "My Eyes" - Blake Shelton f/ Gwen Sebastian 30 "Dust" - Eli Young Band

The video has passed 3 million views on YouTube (3,142,441), just a week since its release. I'm not super crazy about the music video as I feel they could have done more with it, but it is certainly doing its job in getting attention. (Even my mother mentioned the song to me the other day - she'd seen the video posted on FaceBook and watched it. And she's the kind of country music fan who generally doesn't know of new artists until they hit the top 10 on radio.) I feel pretty good about how far on the charts this song will go (knock on wood), but with the complete inability of solo females to follow up a top 20 hit with a second top 20 hit over the past 7 years, I worry about Maddie & Tae's follow up to this. I hope they're able to keep their momentum going and not be just a one-hit wonder, because what I heard of their music in that EPK was fantastic. They certainly have more radio-friendly material that could become hits for them if country radio gives them a chance ( Smoke, Takin' It Easy).

Good timing -- this song passes Jana Kramer on today's MB update, and will qualify for top 40 countdown spins next week on stations that broadcast Bob Kingsley's show. That will create an audience boost next week and also will expose the song to a new audience.

I just saw the video for the first time on VEVO TV and instantly loved the song (plus Tae is hot!). This sounds like a prime country hit to me.

I've had friends asking me about "that song where the girls make fun of all the other country songs", saying how much they enjoyed this one. So this is definitely reaching an audience that radio hasn't really been catering too, because most of the people who've mentioned this song to me have said they haven't been listening to radio much lately. There's definitely an argument to be made that bro-country isn't the only type of country that's popular, or at least it wouldn't be if radio would cater more to other demographics as well, rather than just 20-something males.
That MJ's Blog article was a great read and echoed many of the thoughts I've had for the better part of a year now, only they were able to say it much better than I ever could have.
So while things are definitely looking promising for Maddie & Tae so far (this song gained nearly 700k in today's MB update), they still have a long uphill battle ahead.

The press firestorm looks like it's coming to an end, the song is starting to sink on iTunes and the video view gain is slowing.
The "content spike" is basically over. It's now up to the song to click as a song at radio. And as a song that is already in the Top 40, it seems to have a good chance of doing so.

Well, plenty of songs have risen very quickly only to eventually stall at radio. I've always felt this single would be such a song. It'll do well initially, and unless Dot/Big Machine Label Group does something to keep Maddie & Tae in the news, they'll become just another new duo. I still think anything Top 20 with such a single as "Girl In A Country Song" should be qualified as a big success.

The follow-up single, no matter how good, is not going to have the same sort of novelty appeal - or get the same press - as this one, so it's going to be riding heavily on their brand cachet. The familiarity and credibility they get from going Top 10 is instrumental for that.

This will do well enough in a Top 20 world to help get fans excited for what's next. Top 20 can also mean #11...

Wows what a jump on Billboard. 43-31, doesn't look like this one is slowing down. I did not see that coming so soon

Yeah, I expected a big week, but not that big.
Interesting how it's just making the top 40 at Mediabase, and about to enter the top 30 on Billboard. It's usually the other way around, if anything.

Not necessarily. I think you're thinking of the fact Mediabase usually has higher peaks than Billboard which it does, but this tends to happen when a song has just been released by either an established star or a hot newcomer making waves. "Somewhere In My Car" and "Roller Coaster" have up until this week been way ahead on Billboard compared to Mediabase because of the audience factor. After the spins and station adds have caught on enough, then that's when the Mediabase points catches up to Billboard's audience.

After I posted that I remembered "Somewhere In My Car", and now I can think of "Dirt" and "Burnin' It Down", too.

This is really starting to move now on Mediabase. Already up to #35, and it has the format's 6th largest bullet.

Thanks for the cute video Wonderstruck- those are some very down to earth likable young women. I don't feel like this song is a novelty song either-every time I hear it I enjoy it as a song; in contrast to other novelty songs where I think they are funny and enjoy them a couple times, but not really as 'music' if that makes sense.
Looking forward to hearing more of their material; strong chance I'll buy the album just based on their voices and harmony so far.

All this talk about Tae, I think Maddie is the cutest out of the two; but we shouldn't be talking about these fine young ladies in that respect anyway; should be about the music right? LOL
As for the song, I'm all for it because it's a female anthem against Bro-Country (even though they CLAIM it's not.... it is, let's be honest here ladies).... but at the same time it really shows how stupid Bro-Country really truly is! Enough is enough already.
Way to go ladies, hope this song keeps climbing the charts and helps the label execs finally realize to quite putting out crrrrap!

They sounded on point on The Today Show! Glad to see that they have the live vocal chops to back up how great they sound on record. I'm really thrilled with how well this is doing. The video just slid into the #1 spot on iTunes Country, finally ending "Somethin' Bad"'s reign.
