I fully approve the Video of the Year nominees. Surprised to see Katy left out but Sia deserves it over her. Are these still fully fan-voted? Partially? I'd assume fan-voting will give Miley Cyrus the advantage but who knows. I can't imagine Justin out-voted Taylor last year.
Would it have killed them to give "Applause" some tech nominations, at the least? Even cinematography or editing for G.U.Y.?
Also would have been fun to see some of the tech Beyonce nominations spread to ***Flawless, Haunted, Superpower, Blow or Mine.

I can't complain about any of these nominations. Gaga's "GUY" video was exceptional, but was anyone actually expecting her to get anything? Just didn't seem like she had anything going for her this time around to garner any nods. Beyonce deserves her reign. A video for every song + 2 extra videos all on one album? Still amazes me. I hope she takes the motherload. Thrilled with the "Wrecking Ball" nods -- very well deserved. Also, YAY at Katy pretty much being paid dust. "Dark Horse" seemed like an obligatory nominee just because of the size of the song (VMA always struggles with differentiating hit songs with the quality of their videos), but I'm glad it didn't get a ton of love like I was expecting it to.

She won't win, but I'm glad Kelly was nominated for "Dirty Laundry." I hope Beyonce sweeps.

It's still stunning that Best Group Video and Best R&B Video don't exist.

Why is "Fancy" nominated for Pop Video and "Hold On We're Going Home" for Rap Video? They should be switched.
Also, "Drunk In Love"'s music video is really lazy and shouldn't have been nominated for VOTY. "Partition" should have been nominated instead.

Hoping for performances from Beyonce, Miley, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith & Iggy. I'd love to see Tswift debut her new single on the show, too.

VIDEO OF THE YEAR
Beyonce feat. Jay Z "Drunk In Love" average for beyonce, cute video but not worthy of VOTY Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX "Fancy" lol Miley Cyrus "Wrecking Ball" nice video but see beyonce Pharrell Williams "Happy" better song than video, nice but yeah no Sia "Chandelier" the best done video, most interesting of this bunch

Problem has to be one of the most generic and basic videos of all time. I can't at it coming anywhere near any of those categories. Most of these vids are awful though, so I guess it kinda fits in.
Yay for Sia though! At least they got 1 right out of 5.

It's still stunning that Best Group Video and Best R&B Video don't exist. There is no best Country video either. Both R&B & Country get more radio airtime than rock. So it's a bit surprising...

Not really considering Viacom owns MTV, CMT and BET. Each have their own awards shows in videos for the genres that dominate their airwaves.

Katy's ROAR should've been nominated for Video of The Year, Female Video, and Best Cinematography.

I mean, no matter what you think of the song or its sexism/rapeyness, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" was clearly the most unique, recognizable and memorable video last year. Absolutely the year's "Single Ladies" or "Smells Like Teen Spirit." But Justin Timberlake's fairly bland Mirrors won. This year, there is absolutely no denying Wrecking Ball is the deserved winner. It's the one image, more than anything, you'll remember from this group of five videos. I could totally see Iggy being in the mix due to the song's overall popularity. People also tend to make way more out of the Clueless thing than it deserves.

The Taylor Swift one is a big deal as well. Assuming she's sticking with the every other fall release schedule, a new single release has to be imminent - so the timing makes sense.
