PHARRELL WILLIAMS – Come Get It Bae: 36.984 (+ 0.276)
Over-shadowed still by Happy?
Or is it just a poor single choice?
Discuss....

PHARRELL WILLIAMS – Come Get It Bae: 36.984 (+ 0.276) Over-shadowed still by Happy? Or is it just a poor single choice? Discuss.... It was a standout for me on first listen to the album as a single choice, but he uses too much falsetto in my opinion and the verses get a little too muddled. My favorite part of the song is the bridge. It has a nice break from the rest of the song and you get to hear Miley Cyrus's vocal alone in a nice call - and - response with Pharrell. I think Brand New (the duet with Justin Timberlake) would have been a better second single, but with his song charting at the same time, I think it was smart to wait. Gust of Wind is also another obvious single choice along with Know Who You Are with Alicia Keys. I predict a top 40 peak with a possibility of going top 20 unless some viral video or usage in a movie or TV show boosts it's popularity.

I am so happy at the longevity of Dark Horse! Katy forever!
Does anyone think Maps will go top 5 or 3? I have to be honest, I played it out for myself already.

If it said featuring Miley Cyrus it would be Top 40 already on the Hot 100.

Happy was just too huge and all over radio. But radio also doesn't seem to have a good reason why some songs get played despite being underwhelming like Katy Perry's Birthday while others Like this and Christina Perri's Human got ignored. I'm going to assume some kind of deal or payola is involved and Pharrell didn't feel the need to bother. Come and Get it Bae is #27 on itunes so it's not exactly dead it's just not radio's pet right now.

I think it will pick up and become a semi-hit, but nothing huge!
It wasn't a bad single choice, but I do feel Happy's popularity did overshadow this a bit... Anyways, no big deal, this will make room for (hopefully) Gust of Wind!

It's doing decent on iTunes all things considered but what are the streaming numbers?

Strange considering that Thrift Shop's popularity never overshadowed that of Can't Hold Us, even when they were both still in the top 3. I Gotta Feeling wasn't overshadowed by Boom Boom Pow's popularity. I guess it depends on the artist or the style or something or maybe it's just that CGIB isn't really perceived by the public as a very good song lol. And it seems very likely that Rude will be #1 this week.

They're only 6% apart in overall points in the current chart. Rude is clearly gaining on Fancy significantly in airplay, and no, Fancy is losing more sales than Rude (and it's the actual sales that count for points, not the percentage) and Fancy is dropping pretty significantly in streaming as well while Rude is holding pretty steady. It will be enough for Rude to overtake Fancy.

I want "Love Runs Out" to reach the top 10 and be a "Good Life" sized hit rather than take the route of "Stop And Stare" back in 2008 where it followed a big hit (Apologize) but failed reaching the top 10. (It peaked at No.12)

KENNY CHESNEY – American Kids: 38.319 (+ 1.103)
Could this be the first top 10 hit for Chesney? Probably not, but will do very well.

I didn't even know Miley was singing on that. that makes me like it even less. It's a terrible 2nd choice to a HUGE hit. No one can relate to Come Get It Bae. What's that even mean? It's grown on me a bit, just wish the title/lyrics were more relatable. Hoping a 3rd single goes top 10. Come Get It Bae is a 4th or 5th single!

"Come get it, bae" means pretty much the same as "when you're ready come and get it." "Bae" is just new-ish slang for your SO.

I recently found out that apparently it's an acronym that stands for "before anyone else" even though for the longest time I thought it was just short for "babe"...go figure lol. I know it's kinda irrelevant but yeah lol I'm just not a huge fan of the song or the slang.

I thought it was short for babe or some vague Beyoncé reference
before anyone else is kinda funny
