Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the digital cd is over 80 minutes so the physical will be altered. I'm guessing hotline bling will be removed from the physical? Or will some of the transitions be edited out? Someone told me the physical CDs are arriving in stores Thursday mornings so I'll find out tomorrow for sure. I know target will sell the disc in stores for 13.99 for anyone interested. Are Target employees allowed to open and play CDs before selling them to the public??

I was thinking more along the lines of if track lengths were pared down but...cool. Even if Hotline Bling is cut, the album wouldn't fit on one disc, so I'm curious what other changes will be made. It doesn't look like it will be a double disc based on the price. I guess I'll find out on Friday. At least I downloaded the album, just in case.

What do you mean if hotline was cut it wouldn't fit? The disc would be 78 would that cut. CDs hold 80. I'll find out from my source shortly what's on the disc

My bad, bro. I thought the album was over 84 minutes. I think I saw that reported somewhere? Per Wiki, it's 81:05, so they might as well just drop Hotline Bling. That's an easy cut. Everything else seems essential. I also thought CD lengths were 74 minutes long LOL. I stand corrected.

I also thought CD lengths were 74 minutes long LOL. I stand corrected. Actually you may not be wrong. 74 minutes was the max available space on blank CDs for a long while, but 80 minutes became the standard after someone realized you can squeeze in a few more minutes if the data is packed in a little bit more tightly. Packing the data that way involves playing around a little with the pitch and/or speed of the music, and a really long CD runs the risk of the last couple of tracks on the disk being unplayable (more so a problem on older CD players than current ones). So some CD manufacturers (those that press actual albums, not just make blank discs) preferred to avoid pressing CDs over 74 minutes for the sake of quality control, or they would make you sign a waiver if you wanted them to press a CD that runs longer than that...debatable as to whether this is still relevant for today's technology but I do think that explains why burned CDs often don't have sound quality as good as the 'real' thing.

Word. Thanks @antigonerising. I can always depend on you! I recall having blank CDs back in the day that were 74 minutes and it makes sense about the last couple tracks being unplayable because I faced that issue too back in the day. #old.
Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for that Cold Coffee to be spilled regarding the physical release...

I just saw the disc. It has 20 tracks on it. So now I'm super curious. Lol they must have trimmed the weird ass outros and intros that ruin the vibe of the cd so I'm really pumped

I'm cool with Hotline Bling being dropped but not cool with actual parts of songs/movements/whatever being trimmed just to fit on a CD. I will buy this because I support Drake but I might wind up just using the album I downloaded in the end.

They were random and not needed. Like every song ended with 29 seconds of car doors opening and closing. Why would you want that? Lol

The physical album runs just a second under 80 minutes so they didn't trim much. I'm importing it now so I don't know exact differences

Thanks for the update, bro. They must have exorcised one car door noise or something. Hotline Bling also could be faded out earlier because it kinda just rides that tropical groove for a bit. I've only listened to the album once in full so I wouldn't even know the difference. My biggest issue is the booklet right now. The digital book pictures were crisper and also more full (e.g. the hookah was chopped out of the pic with him sitting down in the parlor and that was one of my favorite parts, LOL). It's not like I will revisit the book again and again though so it's a minor quibble, really.
By the way, your argumentative nature used to slightly peeve me. Now, it's quite endearing!

Yeah, a few songs just trimmed like 5 or 6 seconds off. The biggest cut was 40 seconds from the end of Hotline. haha I know sometimes we can all get a bit heated but I like everyone here

Ahh...after I thought about it, once you confirmed that Hotline Bling was still on the album, I figured it would get the most trimming. I'm fine with that. It's basically been given a radio edit, but on the album. I'm excited to own this album officially! I may keep the original files, just because, but delete them from my phone and iTunes because I'm somewhat of a purist LOL. @ them actually adding more chatter to One Dance and making it LONGER than the digital version by like 10 seconds. It's basically some girl talking about misspelling Hennessy. Sooo random. I do like how the songs flow into each other though. I like when albums do that but my phone usually doesn't register it and they get chopped up.

Yeah, I kept the digital mix of One Dance lol
EDIT: Wait, what? The word "high" is edited out of the chorus on "Feel No Ways" and the whole song is edited. the fuck??

List of changes:
Keep the Family Close: Last drum into the transition into 9 is shorter. They cut the buildup.
9: Buildup into the "Try to kill me but they still want the Views" outro is shorter That outro itself has been cut. He only says "I am very much alive on the 6 side" 1 and 1/2 times
U With Me?: The intro of the song is shortened to 15 seconds instead of 21 seconds There are only 2 dial tones instead of 3
Feel No Ways: It's Clean. Drake did the same **** with the TML clean version, Over was uncensored. ---Next single---
Hype: Intro is shorter. Instead of 8 seconds it's 6 seconds Buildup to Baka talking is shorter
Faithful: The silence between the end of the song and the transition is shorter
Still Here: Length is 2:55 instead of 3:09 The beat loop at the end is 15 seconds instead of 30 seconds
One Dance: Track is now 3:07 with a new outro "How do you spell Hennessy? I put 2 n's and 2 s'. Is it like that? This is definitely not showing up. I know Hennessy has 2 s' for sure so let me take out one of the n's"
Views: The silence at the end of the song is gone, shortening the track to 4:09
Hotline Bling: The length is 3:49 instead of 4:27 The outro fades out much earlier

You beat me to it. I was going to post that from the site I found. Looks like I will be playing Dr. Frankenstein with this CD on my iTunes then, LOL. Not here for censored versions.

I have fallen in love with this album. I can't put my finger on it but it is like a Greatest Hits with a twist (the fully-realized Drancehall songs.) Yeah, it's moody and bitter but that is Drake just being Drake and reflecting on where things are now in his life. This definitely has the potential to be my favorite of his albums. It might be already. The critical drubbing is, to me, another classic example of building someone up just to tear him down.

I'm so excited its gonna be the next single this summer. I like everything really lol but I mostly have been replaying FNW and U with Me? I didn't hear Pop Style until the CD release date so while that is old for some, I really love that

#1 with 855k sales (1.047m SPS) per HITS. He currently holds the record for most streams in a week while he, Bey and Bieber are the only 3 artists to crack 100m streams in a week period thus far.

He's now one of the handful of acts who have simultaneously occupied the top spots on the single and album charts in the UK and US simultaneously.
