Artist: Jamie O'Neal Single: "Wide Awake" Writers: Jamie O'Neal, Jimmy Murphy Album: Eternal Label: Shanachie Entertainment/Momentum Source: Daily Play MPEThis is the only original song off Jamie's Eternal album. This song was made available to country radio today though no add date was mentioned. Look for this to make a run on the secondary charts.

Cute song, but I didn't think it fit on the album very well. IMO this would've been better as a bonus track or digital-only release. I would've liked to see one of the covers as a single instead, particularly since some of her choices were a bit outside the norm.

I've always loved Jamie O'Neal and her voice. Love the traditional country style of this! While I think the lyrics are both clever and completely accurate for those who are familiar with terrible snorers, I'm sure they will make it difficult for some to take the song seriously. I'm not one of those people though and will probably buy this. I know this won't do anything for her and we won't be hearing it on radio much if at all, but it's a really good song IMO.

The lyrics are pretty atrocious for me.

Very interesting, quirky song. I like it though. The theme and lyrics are interesting and I love the traditional country sound of the production and Jamie's vocals sound as powerful as they ever did (she's probably one of the most underrated vocalists ever). No shot in hell at doing anything for a multitude of reason I love that she's back to making music again. I'd like a new album of originals though, so it'd be nice if she had another one of those coming up in the future now that she's dipped her toes back in the water with Eternal.

Hands down the weirdest song I have heard in a very long time or maybe of all time.
I absolutely love her voice and there are songs I'v heard she did the demo to that I want to hear so bad and I really enjoy the cd but like it was said before it really doesn't fit.

Just watched the music video for this and I must say that it was perfect. It's totally ridiculous though hilarious and couldn't have fit the song any better.
ETA: The song also reminds me of Deana Carter's "Did I Shave My Legs for This?"

I love this, sure it won't do anything at radio but I think it's pretty funny. Hopefully they'll push it at secondary radio!
