Artist: Tyler Farr Single: "A Guy Walks Into A Bar" Writers: Melissa Peirce, Jonathan Singleton, Brad Tursi Label: Columbia Nashville Add Date: August 18th, 2014 Source: All AccessI must say I fully support this decision by Columbia as I felt anything else from his debut album might have cost him momentum and a new lead single was the best course of action after "Whiskey In My Water" peaked. Chart Run: 56* - 50* - 46* - 48* - 48* - 47* - 44* - 44* - 42* - 41* - 38* - 36* - 34* - 33* - 34* - 31* - 29* - 28* - 28* - 25* - 23* - 22* - 21* - 20* - 18* - 17* - 15* - 14* - 12* - 11* - 9* - 8* - 7* - 6* - 4* - 3* - 2* - 1* - 7 - 17 (Mediabase)

I think they made the right decision to not release another single from his last album, but why not wait a few weeks to let the recurrent plays go down and avoid Garth's and Jason's new songs? It's a really crowded month in July already. As for the title, it could be a very deep song or it could be just another party song by looking at it. I'm hoping for a deeper style song. I actually really enjoy Tyler's voice, and I'm looking forward to some new material.

The add date is August 18th which should be between three and four weeks after Garth and Jason's singles hit radio. I also don't feel "Whiskey In My Water" will be getting crazy recurrent status. No doubt it will receive lots of recurrent play, but not enough I feel to be worried about if I was Columbia. Tyler's still not an A-lister so I think either way this song will still have a relatively slow climb like his last two singles did if it indeed becomes another hit which remains to be seen.

When was his album released? This is an awfully quick turnaround; he must have been sitting on new music for quite a long time.

I wish they would have rereleased "hot mess" next. I really liked that song the first time it was out and think it could still be a hit.

Not a fan of his voice at all really and nothing about him stands out at all, but this title has caught my attention so I'm interested in how it sounds.

This is a killer song... it is a serious song. not bro or party - at all.
It is a slow mid / ballad so that mght hurt it... but I think it will take a while to climb so a fall /winter peak is what were looking at.

What MR said. This is a mid tempo serious song. Y'all will be surprised by how good of a song this is.

How are you guys hearing it? I have heard the demo version of this song, not Tyler's. So I can't speak to his vocal delivery but the song itself is a well wrote song.

How are you guys hearing it? I can't speak for both of them, but it's clear from several of mus1cr0w's posts that he/she is in Nashville. There are actually a handful of people who post here that have industry connections, which is pretty cool :) When was his album released? This is an awfully quick turnaround; he must have been sitting on new music for quite a long time. Tyler's album was released on September 30, 2013, so this new single will come out only about 11 months later. But he'd been sitting on the music from his debut for quite some time. He signed with Sony in 2011 and "Hot Mess" was released already in February 2012, but neither it nor "Hello Goodbye" caught on, so of course the label waited to release the album until Tyler was finally chugging up the charts with "Redneck Crazy". I agree with sabre14 that moving on to the next album is a pretty smart move by Columbia. Tyler's debut album hasn't even sold 100k copies, and yet he's gotten great support from radio. RC the single did go Platinum and WIMW will be Gold in another couple of weeks but I feel that coming back with a brand new track is the best way to go here. If "A Guy Walks..." climbs surprisingly quickly it's possible that Sony could get the album out there in November/December but I'm betting on a Q1 2015 release.

If this is a big hit he can follow it up with "A Priest, a Rabbi, and a Minister." Seriously though, I'm interested to hear the song. Clever title and we don't get many of those anymore!

I did really like his song "I Ain't Even Drinking". I think that's the title. Hope I'll like this.

The title sounds like the beginning to a bad joke, but I think there's a definite possibility that this might be a good song. "Hello Goodbye" and "Whiskey In My Water" are both very good; even "Redneck Crazy " is pretty good despite the corny 'drove me redneck crazy' lyric. With all that said, I doubt I'd ever buy his music because I don't really care for his voice and his live vocals leave a lot to be desired.

The title and from what others have posted have me thinking this will be similar to "I Didn't Drink" which was an album track from Craig Morgan. If it's anything like that gem, I'm very excited for this.

Ouch, I hope the guy was ok
Anyway, I hope this song is good. His two hits so far are just "okay" in my opinion but maybe this is his song that makes me a fan!

AudioI'll need a few more listens to fully figure out how much i like this. Seems like a good song, but I can't help but think of what a strong vocalist could do with this (Craig Morgan immediately comes to mind, seems like a song he could knock out of the park). Tyler just seems a bit overmatched, lacking the range to fully pull if off. Lyrics are pretty strong though, always nice to see a heartbreak song (and he doesn't even stalk this one...).

With first listen, Tyler's voice is just not up to par with what this song demands. Such a good song but Tyler just doesn't have the vocals to project it. Like kw9461 said Craig Morgan would absolutely nail this song.

I agree about the voice! That was like nails on a chalkboard while the teacher is standing on a cat's tail!
Great song though! Too bad someone who can't sing it recorded it! Craig Morgan would had been perfect!

Does anyone know why I can never get the Mediabase player to load? I'm on a Mac using Chrome and it never works.

Like "Hello Goodbye," this is just not a comfortable place for his very limited vocals. He has to have one of the roughest voices I can think of for someone getting any country radio airplay. It's definitely a good song, but seriously brought down by his ability to deliver it to its fullest potential.
I love all the Craig Morgan fanfare that just happened up-thread and I couldn't agree more that this song would totally be within his wheelhouse. Craig's one of the best vocalists in the country biz and Tyler Farr couldn't be further on the other end of the spectrum.

Audio released to YouTube today. Just heard it. Yup, definitely agree with the Craig Morgan statement. I don't hate Farr's voice, so I don't think he sounds too bad here and I really like this overall. Could see it being another top 10 for him.

Honestly, Tyler's voice doesn't bother me. I actually like it, in the same way I like Leah Turner's, but I can see how it would be off-putting to others. Honestly, this'll be a smash hit for Farr. He's got a lot of momentum rolling, he takes a very clever approach on the title, and it's a good song. Using that well-known line is gonna help draw more attention to this song and I see it being big for Tyler. Maybe not "Redneck Crazy" big, but big nonetheless.

Also, this is on iTunes. For some reason, not on the Country front page, but I just got an email from Tyler Farr's fan club thing saying it's been released to iTunes.
Sorry for the double posting.

I was hoping that i would like the song, i don't though. mostly due to his voice. Most everyone agrees here that his voice isn't that great. All i know is if this came on the radio i would turn it. Just like his last 2 singles. I dont see me really getting to a place where i am excited for music from this guy and I think a lot of people probably feel the same way.
