"The jokes on me and it ain't funny Everybody but me could see the punch line coming, from a mile away I've heard it so many times I could tell it to the T, believe me I could sell it all day
It goes a guy walks into a bar, orders a drink Sees a girl that catches his eye Aaks her if she wants another They fall for each other, end up lovers That laugh, cry, make it work for a little while Then one night her tailights fade out into the dark And a guy walks into a bar
I'd laugh to if my heart'd let me Keeping it light, probably help me get over you I'm walking, talking, drinking proof The cliche in a corner booth, ain't nothing new
A guy walks into a bar, orders a drink Sees a girl that catches his eye Aaks her if she wants another They fall for each other, end up lovers That laugh, cry, make it work for a little while Then one night her tailights fade out into the dark And a guy walks into a bar
It goes a guy walks into a bar, orders a drink Sees a girl that catches his eye Aaks her if she wants another They fall for each other, end up lovers That laugh, cry, make it work for a little while Then one night her tailights fade out into the dark And a guy walks into a bar"
Not sure the way I wrote out the first verse gives the impression of how Tyler sings the lyrics, it does rhyme and flow well, though I may not represent that so well.

Don't care for it. His vocals are really grating on this and he doesn't have the vocal chops to pull this song off. I also agree with those that think Craig Morgan would be perfect for this song- I can totally hear him singing this. The song itself might be good enough, but someone else would have to sing it if there's any possibility that I might enjoy it.

Pretty good song. I won't mind seeing this do well, but I just don't like his voice at all. It's got such an odd and off-putting sound to me. The content of the song helps make up for the vocals, though.
Thrilled that this turned out to be different from what I was expecting from the title alone.

It's an interesting song, but the vocals turn me against it almost immediately. I've never been particularly fond of Farr's voice. "A Guy Walks Into A Bar" seems to emphasize the grating nature of his voice.

I'm really liking this one. I know his voice can be grating for others, and that's understandable, but I enjoy his voice. No other voice sounds like his, and for the occasional single I enjoy hearing his raspiness. He just sounds like a guy who smoked a pack of cigs and drank some whiskey the night before, and I find that to be perfect for the mid-tempo/ballad type songs he has released. I'll be rooting for this song to be his first #1 (on Billboard).

"A Guy Walks Into A Bar" seems to emphasize the grating nature of his voice. After listening to this a few times now, this is exactly how I feel. It's an interesting song but I completely agree on this song emphasizing the grating of Tyler's vocals. "Hello Goodbye" was another song where I felt it wasn't the right song to suit his vocals. Whereas I feel a song like "Whiskey In My Water" was a perfect song for his vocals. I don't dislike the song, but I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I would like to. I'm sure others won't mind the vocals and this song can continue his hot streak though.

Just heard it on WATZ. Great lyrics, and I have no problem with his voice. It's distinctive and I don't find it grating. I still think his production is a bit heavy handed, though.

I'm more than willing to give Tyler a chance but I've had problems with all his singles so far. This one is probably his strongest single but I can barely take listening to it because I don't like his vocal performance. Really great choice to lead the album with though as I think this will win over some people like me who are just waiting to hear something connect with him. For me it's not this time but maybe next time.

I'm starting to really enjoy this one and find myself mocking Tyler's voice trying to sing as gritty as him haha I can get past his vocal delivery because this is a damn good song.

This song has grown on me a lot, it's one of my favorites now. I think Tyler is one of the best at singing about heartbreak right now, between this song, Hello Goodbye, and Redneck Crazy. I love how the song has a full circle connected story, even though it's pretty sad. I know many aren't keen on his voice, but I personally can't see anyone else being a better fit for this type of song.

I like this song. I really like Tyler's voice. Yeah it's a little high for him but I still like the sound of it. The lyrics tell a very nice story. My very favorite thing about this song though has to be the production. Love the emphasis on the acoustic. I hope he can get a top 5 with this one

Finally, some "not as familiar" songwriters for a chance!!! Melissa Peirce, Jonathan Singleton, & Brad Tursi. Now granted Jonathan Singleton has written SEVERAL hits "Watching Airplanes" Gary Allan, "Red Light" & "Let It Rain" for David Nail, etc. etc. to name a couple so I am NOT surprised at how well written this song is. So as for song quality, I really like it A LOT.
However, the performance to me vocally is lacking, but I think that's just because I am not a huge fan of Tyler Farr's voice. He's pretty bad live too, really bad actually and that doesn't sit well with me. I like performers who can not only sing their tails off on record, but can do the same if not better live as well.
Good single choice for him however..... interesting song idea and very well written. Just wish Jonathan Singleton and The Grove would do it instead :) Jonathan's got a killer voice!

It's a bit loud, but I do like the prominence of the acoustic guitar. I still think the electric gets a little too happy with sliding down the strings (that happened a lot in "Whiskey in My Water" too), but otherwise, pretty good production.

This song has grown on me quite a bit. Tyler's vocals still don't impress me, but this is a very well-written song. It's very creative and stands out amongst other songs.

I think this song is going to grow on a lot of people. It certainly grew on me, it's one of my favorite songs right now. A solid theme with a great premise behind it, and it sounds authentically country.

Solid video.
I hope this one catches on soon, as I absolutely love it. I still think there's time for it to become a hit, but it'll have to start in the near future.

That is a pretty decent video. I think Tyler is a solid country artist. He's not overly flashy, may not have the best chops, and might not be the sexiest guy, but so far his singles have all been enjoyable, and fill a void missing in country music IMO. No one is going to mistake his music for being Pop, that's for sure.

I wonder if "A Guy Walks into a Bar" will end up like "Clockwork," decent sales but just getting lost in the 30's on the chart with all the other names to compete with. Tyler Farr's one of those people like Kip Moore, Jana Kramer, and Hunter Hayes who I expected to make it big but may end up taking a turn for the worse with their second albums.

This one's at #25 on Canadian iTunes right now. Not sure how it's selling in America, but this seems to be connecting with listeners. Hopefully radio starts playing this more.

Last week was very kind to Tyler, as he jumped 6 spots (41-35) on Billboard with a gain of over 700k. And it looks like this week will be even better (at least in terms of audience gained). Toby will probably get back ahead and Lady A's "Freestyle" will also likely move ahead, but it looks to me that Tyler can re-pass The Band Perry and maybe move up a couple more spots, possibly getting up to #33 or so.

I have to be honest, this is really growing on me. Lyrically it's a very good song and tends to stand out among the other charting singles right now. His vocals IMO are still rough (by the way, I still can't stop thinking about Craig Morgan singing this since it was brought up in this thread) and the production gets a little too loud in the chorus, but still an enjoyable listen.
I do think that "Whiskey In My Water" was the prefect song for Tyler's vocals and proved that I can enjoy his voice sometimes.

Yeah ditto with sabre14 on this, except I like his vocals. They're rough/ragged which is perfect for this song and really adds to the experience. I'm always a sucker for heartbreak songs, and this is as close as we have right now (instead of the 90s where there were a handful at any one time).

My favorite Tyler Farr single and its the one struggling the most. I know I know, 5th/3rd single and Christmas but still he should be moving a little faster after 2 top 3 hits. Hot Mess was ok but generic, I disliked both Hello Goodbye (grating) and Redneck Crazy (just horrible), but this one and Whiskey In My Water I've liked, so I guess I'm warming up to Mr Farr here

This one has started off really slow, but I think a large part of that was due to the decision to release this back in August, when the charts were a bloodbath. But lately it's had some better updates, and the sales have adjusted accordingly. I think this one is going to be a potential sleeper hit, maybe needing 40 weeks to get his first #1.
