The domination of Iggy Azalea continues. Although she replaces herself at #1, she no longer has the Top Two songs of the week (only Nico & Vinz separate them) but to make up for that, she's bookending this week's chart.
In fact, we have some catching up to do. :)

File the "Sing" drop-out under "What the HELL?!? Moments". Nevermind that it ties the record for highest Seacrest Era dropper (arguably having a more significant drop due to Justin's "TKO" being tied to the year-end break), it hasn't even left the current Mediabase overall Top 40 yet - it dropped to #37 on this past Sunday's chart. (Though, it almost certainly will be gone next week.)

Just WOW @ the drop for "Sing"! :o But this little clean up makes the chart look much better.
Question - why does "I Will Never Let You Down" have (2) weeks on the chart? Is this a debut or a re-entry? It's cool that Rita Ora's back-to-back there, btw.
Oh, and good call with the debut for "Rather Be" Libra!

So with Rita having 2 debuts in the same week, when's the last time that's happened? I'm pretty sure that Timbaland did in 2007 or 2008, but with the prevalence of featured artists, I'm sure it's happened more often than we think.
I'm guessing that "Sing" is the highest dropout since Enya's "Only Time" in 2001 or early 2002.

Well, this is an interesting week.
Last week's lag was, thankfully, short lived. We catch up, again. In fact, the entire top 25 is identical to the Mediabase chart, sans recurrent rules, from Sunday, July 6. That's where the similarity ends. "Sing", #26 on that same chart, drops clean off. And "Break Free" gets an early debut. On the, aforementioned, 7/6 chart, "Break Free" isn't even in the "real" top 40, yet, much less the top 40 sans recurrent rules. The catching up could also mean bad news for Ariana. "Problem" could be shorted a week at #1 with "Am I Wrong" poised to take over as soon as next week.

Question - why does "I Will Never Let You Down" have (2) weeks on the chart? Oops. I corrected that although having been "Breakout/On The Verge" for three straight weeks, I think we're all familiar with it by now. :)

Very glad to see that "Rather Be" debuted as well as "Boom Clap" being the highest debut on the countdown.
3 extras placed within the Top 40. (excluding the optional extras, the 2 for 1, and breakouts)
Overall, pretty good and fresh chart. A lot of good music on this week's countdown.

Did someone at AT40 not like Ed Sheeran's guest hosting or something? Even given a week of catchup, by almost any standard he should have stayed on the chart for at least one more week. This is probably the most egregious, or at least the least justified, of the recent string of big drops off the chart from relatively high up.
In addition to Iggy Azalea's new song, the other half of "Fancy", Charli XCX, enters for the first time on her own with "Boom Clap", and way up at #22. (She also of course was featured on Icona Pop's "I Love It", which hit #2 last year.) With Michael Jackson gone, now the credited act who made the top 40 longest ago is Snoop Dogg, who first hit in 1993. His "Wiggle" co-hitmaker, Jason Derulo, has four songs on this show with two extras (one as a feature.)
Sam Smith joins Iggy Azalea with two top 10 hits (maybe sometime he'll have three songs played in that area with "La La La" as a 2 for 1 extra), and AJR finally move up a step after four weeks at #37. This was starting to remind me of the Script's "The Man Who Can't Be Moved", which lived up to its title by getting stuck at #34 for six weeks before finally peaking one notch higher. And speaking of slow movement, MKTO finally hits the top 10 in their 21st week.

I'm guessing that "Sing" is the highest dropout since Enya's "Only Time" in 2001 or early 2002. As Libra pointed out, "Sing" ties with Justin Timberlake's "TKO" as the highest drop-outs of the Seacrest era. "TKO" fell out after the holiday break, so "Sing" can, easily, be declared the victor, here. "Only Time" fell out from #13 on the final regular chart of 2001. I can't think of anything that fell out from a higher spot during the last two years of Casey's run. So, I guess that sounds about right.

Oh, and good call with the debut for "Rather Be" Libra! Heh, I had a feeling that something like what did happen this week would come to pass.

Actually had to dig to find out Rihanna's two - thought it would be What Now and The Monster from November. Nope. No, it was We Found Love and her feature on Nicki Minaj's "Fly", on 10/22/11. I don't even have a guess off-hand for which two of Lil' Wayne's it would've been.

As I figured, it was, probably, one of each -- one song as the lead and one featured performance. Two featureds debuting the same week wouldn't have been out of the question, either. Two tracks as the lead artist is a lot less likely. That, I'm quite certain, hasn't happened since 1997 when Elton John did it. "Candle In The Wind 1997" and "Something About The Way You Look Tonight" both entered the top 40 the same week.

Very lively chart this week! Ryan mentioned that 38 of the top 40 songs were on the move, and that we would get new songs in the top 2 positions. 7 of the top 10 songs are one-word titles. There seems to be a new trend of an extra after #4, and as we know it should be after #6 to lengthen that usually short segment. Speaking of songs that get stuck at a position, Insensitive by Jann Arden lived up to its name in '96 by spending 7 consecutive weeks at #15. It Lowe's ever takes over for Subway on this show, we might get the Fresh Buzz SAW Of The Week. Congratulations to Arnold for "getting the gold."
