Or better yet, absorb that chart into Alt, that way everyone who wants Active songs on the Alt chart can get their wish.

Nah, I'd be happy with some Active songs in the upper region and a couple more in the lower region. The rest can be indie or whatever. Also, if Active does dominate Alternative again, my guess is that all the indie-lovers here will complain about how "real" Alternative music is getting snubbed. It's a vicious cycle.

AKA, the way it was here up until about 3 years ago. Yeah, that was what I was basing my guess off of. I looked through some of the threads from years ago and I saw that the people who currently like Alternative now complained about the state of the mid 2000s, saying that it was too "rock-leaning" and that "more eclectic music (aka indie/dance/whatever)" weren't charting well. Which isn't anything I particularly agree with - I'd rather listen to rock than some weird left-field stuff.

Now, now, no need to get all condescending. Yet since this popped up in a Fuckcherry thread for a song titled "Say Fuck It", should I really be all that surprised?

I've said this before, but I think my biggest issue with wanting active songs to take spins away from alternative songs on their home format is that it's just kind of unfair. That argument is to say that active rock is just so much better that it's songs deserve to be played by double the amount of stations and the alternative music it replaces doesn't deserve radio play at all.
And before anyone suggests it, no, CHR and AAA are not suitable homes. If the music was as poppy as often suggested, more of it would chart on CHR like pop punk did 5-8 years ago. AAA is also too small and all over the place, it'd be like suggesting the metal format (which exists, is just unavailable for viewing without paying for I think) is a suitable home for Avenged Sevenfold and Slipknot.

I always wondered why I never hear a Metal station on FM Radio. I guess even then that wouldn't sate the Active fanatics until their washed-up metal sellout bands are getting played on EVERY rock station.

If you like Active, listen to Active. The whole point of Alternative is for it to be different. What's so hard about that?

If you like Active, listen to Active. The whole point of Alternative is for it to be different. What's so hard about that? because bands once had a history on Alt are getting fucked over. I only care about the statistics perspective, it sucks to see all these flops on an otherwise flawless track record. It's all about history and statistics, which is what pisses me off. I don't want to listen to Active, because I've been biased against Active my whole life and it's hard for me to accept it as "good". But Alt is still barely better, now.
