Hits Daily Double doesn't account for the GhostTunes sales and preorders yet. Or the bundle, which will likely be set up to get major sales bumps for his catalog and the new records.

I read that, that is crazy, again I dont think the prediction is taking into account, the Ghost tune numbers, there is no way it only sells 120.
Anyway tomorrow morning when they release first day numbers we will sell. But there is no way he only does 120k for its first week.

I certainly hope that 120 is way too low. I'm thinking that it must be, considering how well the boxed set did last year. The demand for his music is still there, though admittedly not as high as it was a decade ago.

Well I had to ask someone at Target to get it from the back for me. This was at 10 AM this morning. They told me there were no new releases today. Not sure if that any indication but I was shocked it was not out yet.

120k?! That is WAYYYY too low. I see absolutely no way it sells only 120k copies.

Yep 120K is far too low.
Believe me once Ghost Tunes release their numbers, hell he will virtually double those numbers.

Maybe I'll be wrong, but I'd think that some fans might roll their eyes about having to log on to a separate website just to purchase Garth Brooks' music, as though he's "too good for iTunes." The whole idea that Garth is somehow rebelling against "the machine" (a metaphor for the music industry from what I can tell) might come across as childish to a lot of industry people and I can see country radio starting to feel alienated by this idea that they are a machine against which Garth Brooks wants to rebel. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ghost Tunes numbers turn out lower than expected.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ghost Tunes numbers turn out lower than expected. I think it was mentioned in another thread, but in the back of my mind I've been thinking "Wow, he waits 13 years to make a comeback and we get...this?" The tour aside, I think Garth and company have mismanaged this albums release. Not that I'm judging a cover by its book, but this album cover (and album name for that matter) goes down as one of the worst. I ended up buying the album tonight, and it was until "All American Kid" (track 4) that I felt like I was listening to a Garth album. The first three songs are the worst of the entire album IMO, and the title track...really? What an odd choice to start an album that brings him back after so long. It would be a huge mistake to ever release that song as a single. The rest of the album starts to sound like classic Garth and I quite enjoy it. Going back to the album cover and name, I would have really enjoyed it more if Garth had just kept his return to music about that...the music. No need to rebel against the machine that helped build your career and make you so successful. Garth has always done a great job of naming his albums that make it standout (this is his first album to be named after an album track), so I would've gone with something different..I don't know maybe something like one of the other songs on the album such as On Down the Road. Anyways, I'm anxious to see what his first week numbers look like (and I agree his GhostTunes numbers will likely be lower than what they would've expected considering the amount of press he did).

I hate to say it, because I am a huge Garth fan; but I had the chance to finally listen to "Man Against Machine" yesterday from top to bottom and it wasn't an album I wanted to put on repeat and was dying to listen to it over and over again (say for example the way "The Chase" did for me, I LOVE that freakin' album). The production to me is very bland and I agree with another commenter (weird in certain places, with super old school echo effects that aren't necessary). Plus, I'm not a fan of the song choices he made for this record. He put a TON of songs on hold, ended up cutting about 40 songs and then these are the 14 that made it? I for one, would love to hear some of the other songs AND I know for a fact that he did cut the song below but it didn't make the record (supposedly had a beautiful string section to it and everything). TO ME, I was wanting to hear a "Midnight At A Red Light" on this album and never did. Big mistake in my opinion for dropping this one. BUT, he's planning on releasing a second album next year and some of the songs he cut this time around are supposed to be on it, so maybe, just maybe "Midnight at a Red Light" will be on that one.
None the less, disappointed overall with the record and for those that want to check out one of the songs Garth DID cut but decided to not put on the album, but SHOULD have then here ya go (fantastic song):

Personally I love the album, its a typical Garth album and he's not trying to be, what he isnt.
Did I get it wrong about the sales numbers, never been more wrong in my life about these things.
Heads should roll, because this is a great album.

With a new bump to 125k-145k, he's projected to land in third behind Foo Fighters at #2 and Taylor Swift at #1 (who is pegged to sell another 300k this week -- astounding).
All in all, not a good look to the revitalization of his career. His album currently sits at a 67 on Metacritic based on 8 certified reviews. His last album, Scarecrow scored a full 10 points higher than MAM with a 77. Granted, reviews will be rolling in throughout the whole week so the number may fluctuate, but this is a pretty bleak start to an album launch I thought would shake up this week in the industry.

Well, according to Paul Grein at Yahoo Music, Garth's album is now scheduled to sell at least 125K, which puts at a #4 debut behind Taylor, Foo Fighters and, of all things, Pink Floyd.

I don't understand why these album sales are surprising folks. He hasn't released a new album in eons. It's not the early 2000's or 90's anymore. People don't buy albums like they used to, Garth is nowhere near the relevant star he was, he is in legend mode now. His sales are really good for what he is: a veteran act with minimal radio exposure. He will have better sales in weeks 2-5 than most artists will though because the audience buying his new album is most likely a more mature/older crowd, and generally that group doesn't rush out to buy new albums the week they came out or go see movies the weekend they come out. He's still going to have better first weeks sales than Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, and Lady A. That's still pretty impressive.

Hardly any of my friends know that he has an album out. They know about the tour, of course, but they don't know about the radio comeback. I told my dad today that I was going to buy Garth's new music and he was very surprised that there was an album out.

The main reason that most people don't know that Garth has a new CD out: No exposure on I-tunes. + minimal TV exposure, not much word of mouth, a flop lead single, etc.

When people log in to the iTunes store every week to see new music...there is nothing from Garth Brooks. To many people Ghost Tunes are what you buy for Halloween. Garth can do whatever he wants. It seems like the fans care more about his record sales than he does.Otherwise, for exposure...he would have to open himself up to iTunes. Yikes, I don't know about the bolded part. I love Garth and will be seeing him in Boston in January, but I feel like he cares a lot about records and it has always rubbed me the wrong way. This album is just okay. Not awful, not great. There are some really solid songs on it, but the lack of a strong lead single, minimal promotion and the fact Garth is not Garth Brooks circa 1995, I understand the low (by his standards) numbers.
