I don't know what's going on behind the scenes with Garth and RCA but it is disappointing if we have to wait another month or so for a radio single after the adds of new music next week. However, whether it debuts next week or September 1st, it's going to cause a huge explosion of buzz and digital sales (on his website) regardless. Country radio won't want to miss the opportunity to promote Garth's official comeback single and the money and listeners that comes from it. If it's a September release, that will coincidentally be the same exact time that "More Than A Memory" was released. Now obviously it's not going to debut at number one I think, but if he holds up his plan of releasing his album Thanksgiving week (which is the best possible time right now to maximize sales even if he's Garth and he doesn't necessarily have to) that would be about 12 weeks from the single hitting radio, which would still line up fairly well.

Really hoping that tweet from @theantman is wrong, I'm really anxious for new music. Although a lot of the recent songs on my hate-list are now becoming recurrent (This is How We Roll, Chillin It, Beachin, Play It Again, Drink to that All Night, Bottoms Up to name a few), I am really crossing my fingers that when Garth's new single hits, it will blow everything else out of the water-- and "school" certain artists about what country music is really about (NOT just hanging out on a back road getting drunk!)
Anyways, has anyone visited Garth's website lately? I was on there reading the press release about the Chicago tour and noticed this message on the homepage: "I am overjoyed with the announcement of Chicago and the opening of the World Tour…between Chicago and Dublin, it’s been a roller coaster ride of emotions. We are starting with the tour page, each city will have its own announcement. The music, the store, Garth 101, and more…it’s all coming. We will grow together. Here we go! Gratitude, respect, and love, g"
Does it annoy anyone else that there is going to be separate press conference for every single show?? Don't mess around Garth, I ONLY care if there is a California show date. Just tell us them all already...

If the single is delayed I am guessing that's all on Garth and not RCA. Honestly, RCA really doesn't have to do much here...the single is going to climb quickly all on its own once radio has their hands on it. And I highly doubt Garth would sign with Sony if he knew they were going to delay his music a bit. I am guessing that Garth and his team are focusing on the roll-out for the ability to digitally purchase music from his website and perhaps it's taking a bit longer than expected. I don't think they would deliberately try to piss people off like this (because teasing new music and then not delivering isn't likely to sit well with fans or radio).
Anyway, hopefully it still comes out soon. I was never the biggest Garth fan but his impact is undeniable.

That's disappointing that it may be delayed until September. I was really looking forward to hearing it ASAP. I agree that the digital rollout is probably the biggest factor the decision to push it back. That's a fairly unique situation, so I imagine it'll take some maneuvering to get everything all figured out.

It won't be out until September according to Garth himself. He states so in this interview at the 5:30 mark. I really can't believe that RCA would put an ad in Aircheck saying new music coming next week and then delay it for over a month, just terrible business practice. September makes much more sense though since the album won't be coming out until Black Friday and it will coincide with the start of the tour. If it would have been released now the song would have peaked way before the album release.

Man, I'm sure radio will be pleased to hear this, what better way to get in their good books than to advertise a new single then delay it a month *rolls eyes*

Also, perhaps NO radio company would give Garth the CC-type of airplay deal. Garth probably wants ALL companies to do it or not release it now at all.

And if they pushed it back because a few companies wouldn't give them a CC deal, that does not reflect well on them at all.

Aldean's song was teased this week but originally not when it got sent out. BBR rushed it cause of Garth too.

Lmao, with the amount of hype surrounding GB right now, I don't think there's a single artist on the Country music scene, or all genres of music, for that matter, that could scare him away. Aldean most definitely included.
Brooks has now added 7 more Chicago shows on top of his first one all before noon this morning. His sales crashed Ticketmaster and he kept adding one show on top of another because the previous ones kept selling out. He's one hell of a model artist for what musicians should be doing for their fans, that's for sure.

Plus, if Garth, his team and the Country industry as a whole has as much faith in him as they appear to, why would they worry about other artists? lmao. If Garth and his team can talk the talk (and no doubt they're WELL aware Garth has no rivals), he should be able to back up his word and live up to expectations. If anybody has even a hope of doing that, it's Garth...

Though I agree that putting an add saying there would be new music next week was some bad judgement (with or without knowing Aldean was dropping his single the same week), it's not going to effect anything in the end. The song will debut very high, and have superb attention surrounding it regardless. By the time September comes around and the single is officially delivered to country radio, nobody will care that it was delayed by 5-6 weeks. It also lines up perfectly with his album dropping and the coinciding tour which I brought up earlier and flyingsilvereagle brought up as well.

1. Why would Garth Brooks need a Clear Channel deal? He can't sell the song himself? Let me guess, name recognition is a problem? I don't care if he is competing with Jason Aldean (or any other artist), this is Brooks we are talking about here.
2. Will Garth be leaving Chicago at the rate they are adding shows?

10 shows? So is Garth coming to any other cities or is he just moving his Las Vegas residency to Chicago? Is it a world tour or a Chicago Tour?

Surely there aren't that many fans just from Chicago and surrounding area coming to see Garth. He has many more cites he can add. 10 is just over doing it! So will there be 10 Atlanta 10 Dallas 10 LA 10 NY 10 Miami 10 Seattle, 10 Toronto, etc? btw those are just examples, no shows have been added in these places.

Maybe. Maybe not. I remember going to the Garth Brooks shows here in Buffalo when he played for six nights here (during the time he won C.M.A. Entertainer of the Year in 1998). I hope he does NOT skip Denver!

He used to add 2-3 shows per market. He was known for this in the past. He'll repeat the same thing here.
10 Shows. Amazing.

Back when he first announced he would be going on a World Tour on GMA it was said that it would be a 2-3 year tour so he can easily spend a week in major cities. I imagine Chicago will have the most shows simply due to people traveling to see the first stop on the tour. I can see 3-6 shows in most other cities easily.

I hope this will be a great new CD for Garth, after all, it's his first in 13 years! I don't think Garth's music will be played regularly on country radio as previous 90s singles, but we've missed out on a lot from him...Glad he's back! I just hope it won't be a typical today sounding country-pop record.

I think this single will be a remake, recorded to fit in with the times. "Bros in Low Places."

I like the fact that he's gonna do 10 shows in Chicago. In the end think about all the money and time they are going to save... I sure hope they add one city at a time and see how many shows they can sell each place.

At first I thought it was a little dramatic, but if he's going to need 10 dates per city, I'm sure it helps his planning to do one city at a time to know how long he's going to need to be there for.

Wow...am I understanding that correctly, that people will be able to buy everything he's ever released for just $29.99?! :O
And holy crap, the demo of "Tacoma" sounds absolutely incredible. I hope that that is indeed the lead single.

This new (unconfirmed) news really excites me. The demo for Tacoma sounds absolutely incredible as it is and would only be better. I'll definitely purchases his whole catalog for that price. It's becoming more and more evident that Garth's fully committed to this comeback and he is out to be the biggest name in country music (again). It'll be interesting to see if he can match the success of names like FGL, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and Blake Shelton with his comeback. I say that, meaning can he produce constant hits and be as popular with the current younger generation of fans. It'll be interesting to see how his comeback changes country music. The fact that he could release a strictly traditional country sounding single and have it be a virtually guaranteed success makes me wonder if that's what he'll do.
