Reportedly called "Sparrow" or "Sparrows". Pop, video includes choreo. A sick Dolly Parton cover? Haha

Since it isn't official I won't believe it, but this came into my mind instantly. It's a sparrow dress And now I found this:

And that's exactly the problem. Safe and sound is fantastic but what people hear of her is 22.
She is not a teen anymore, i'm not saying she needs to drop funny lighthearted songs but she needs to grow up with her audience. If Adele or Sam Smith can get hits with mature break up songs she can too

I'm a little fed up with people criticizing her lyrics when she's, perhaps, one of the greatest lyricists and musicians of our generation.
Adele is the exception. Taylor Swift managed to make herself a household name writing lyrics on her own without the help of any hit maker producers or rent-a-rappers, and people seem to forget that. Adele and Taylor Swift are two completely different artists, marketing themselves in two completely different ways, aiming at two completely different audiences, and scoring similar level of success. Before Adele and Sam Smith or whatever other heartbroken brit import, there was Taylor Swift.
She's 23 years old. Do y'all remember what you were doing at 23? I don't. Mostly because most of my nights were spent at bars/nightclubs acting a fool. Mind you, I'm not that much older, but people completely expect her to act "her age" and then turn around and go out to the nearest club to jam out to their favorite summer song*~*~**~ at the moment, which I can assure you has 1/3 of Taylor Swift's weakest song's lyrical content. Adele is the mother of a 1 year old child. Taylor Swift finds joy in wearing cute summer dresses with Selena Gomez around Los Angeles. Like...?
She's not trying to go after Adele's audience, and quite frankly, I don't want her to, and the millions who have bought her records probably don't either. Let he be young and grow with time. Her music now is completely different than it was 7 years ago, and will likely continue to evolve with time. Her talent and writing skills will still be there, probably stronger than they are now.

Exactly, her music is both beautiful and fun. Her true fans know this!
I love all of her music because she means everything she says... I don't know what else you guys could ask for in a musician!

I didn't realize people complained about her lyrics. I thought they complained about her writing about the same thing (ie her exes) over and over again.

Here's food for thought: the topic she most enjoys writing about is love and it is only natural for a lyricist to draw inspiration from their own experiences. Could she be less vocal about WHO the songs are about, sure, but what makes her music so genuine and authentic is because she writes about her own life (so I doubt she will ever stop writing about her exs and I don't want her to if she keeps churning out the delectable ear candy that she's so damn good at making).

I'd say she's grown as a lyricist. It's not like she's still hogging that fairytale princess schtick like she was during her initial breakthrough.

As much as I'm living for trashynavy's grade A trolling that started this whole "she can't write" fiasco, T-Swizzle has a phenomenal ear and she's good for putting her feelings into words and keeping it real. Unless you're some cold, hollow, bitter shell of a loveless basement dweller who's never even been on a date, then I don't get how you can discredit her material just because she lets her guard down with a pen. Sometimes it can get a bit too personal (don't care for her 'Dear John' stuff, and if this is called 'Sparrow' and about Harry Styles....), but for the most part she's great. Not only that, but her writing goes beyond the ups and downs of puppy love-- get to know her!
And don't get me started on 'Mean'. It's clever. Fact. I have to question the intelligence of its dissenters.

I was thinking, do you guys think that taylor's new single will beat WANEGBT's (or maybe Right Round's) first week sales? I know > ~600k is a lot these days, but i don't know if she can do it again. Maroon 5's Payphone, debuted with ~500k and Maps now debuted with ~150k Last big debut, was Katy Perry's Roar ~560k 2013, a year ago. Well I hope she can make 600k again :) I think it will really depend on how GOOD the song is!

Agreed. At times it feels like it is just too obvious with who she is singing about. It's not nice when we're listening to it and we're like, "OH WHO IS THIS ABOUT?! WHO IS THIS ABOUT?! WHO IS THIS ABOUT?!" the whole time. I'd say she's grown as a lyricist. It's not like she's still hogging that fairytale princess schtick like she was during her initial breakthrough. There is no denying that she can write. I think she will get better with time. I just hope we don't get any Becky twerking n' get crunk n' drunk songs on the album.

Disco🌶️📖 I don't think Taylor's the type of artist to have club/twerk songs on her album
