This chart-topping country hit is crossing over to the pop formats now - it's being promoted by Republic Records with an added rap verse from T.I. in place of the guitar solo. Under Cool New Music on AllAccess.

Both the original and T.I. remix are under Cool New Music on All Access. The remix is a slightly different beat. T.I.'s verse is really out of place.

Pass. I'm not very fond of this rapper on a country song trend.

Can't wait for the George Strait ft. Snoop Dogg "I Got A Car" remix. When's that one coming out?

The remix is straight pop...not a hint of country in there at all.

My god. This is seriously going to be a thing for now, isn't it? But I do have to say that he's extremely sexy.

Off-Topic Rant: Question for the people calling him sexy - how do you react when you see guys with ACTUAL musculature on their arms? Bothers me to no end that people like Brantley Gilbert and Tyler Hubbard get away with wearing cut-off shirts when they have such unremarkable, shapeless arms.
On-Topic: Another song that doesn't NEED a rap verse. Country is a mainstream genre anyway, and this was already a super pop-leaning country song. How does featuring TI, who pop radio barely plays anyway, make this more pop?

The original version is good just the way it is. Maybe they are adding T.I to it because of his success on "Blurred Lines" a year ago. I'm assuming this remix will hit Itunes in a few weeks althrough.

Ew. WAT. No. Why?! This "rent-a-rapper for a country song" trend needs to stop. All of these songs that are getting this treatment lately were terrible to start with.

Umm, it's better than Drink to That All Night and This Is How We Roll I guess? That's the nicest thing I can say about this song. Why can't good country songs crossover?

Well, frankly the original is a way better song than the latest country crossovers.
It has a nice video, the guy is hot, and the song is good. It was a big success on country with big sales, so i don't see a reason why this couldn't be at least a decent hit on pop

Umm, it's better than Drink to That All Night and This Is How We Roll I guess? That's the nicest thing I can say about this song. Why can't good country songs crossover? Because good country songs didn't get enough success on country to be sent to pop. Merry go round or 19 you + me were a lot more suited for pop format that the songs that are trying to have a pop life, but they were barely top 10 on country. Let's be honest, country chart is a joke, payola works full time and it's always the same kind of song with the same kind of lyrics the ones that are getting high on the chart. And about the rap verse, yes the song doesn't need it, but almost 100% of the pop songs with rap verses doens't needed the rap verse either. I still don't understand why they keep adding rap verses, specially now that rap is not exactly at its best. In 2004 i could understand with the rap and hip hop domination of the charts, but right now is absurd. In fact the rap songs that are getting some success are the ones with a hook in singing voice, and you even have the irony of a rapper getting his biggest hit with a song where he sings all the time (Drake's Hold on we're going home)

^ Hold On We're Going Home isn't Drake's biggest hit imo. Songs from 2009-2010 like Bedrock and Best I Ever Had were bigger (What's My Name? too if you include features). Best I Ever Had does have a lot of singing in it too though. On-Topic: Another song that doesn't NEED a rap verse. Country is a mainstream genre anyway, and this was already a super pop-leaning country song. How does featuring TI, who pop radio barely plays anyway, make this more pop? T.I. had numerous big pop radio hits in the past, same with Nelly. Pop radio listeners should be familiar with them, even if it's a long time since their last hits. There are more current rappers they could choose, but I don't think it really matters that much who does it tbh, as long as it's someone famous.

Hold on we're going home is his biggest hit on pop by far (and it's his biggest solo hit on UK too).
TI had several hits in times where pop charts were way more receptive to rappers than they are now. Anyway it's the song and not the rap verse what is going to work or not.
I still prefer country songs that go unadultered to pop like Wanted. Frankly most country songs right now could go pop without any change, there are a lot of country singers that even didn't twang that much in their songs

WTF? BG you are so totally disappointing me... The last two collabos, FGL & Jason Derulo (I do beg your pardon!) and Jarrod Niemann & Pitbull ("country"-dance turned into identical country-club dance; quite an effort... NO!), both flopped; and for a good reason. This trend definitely has to stop. It will do no good to core country's credibility (I am not implying that Bottoms Up was country to begin with). I just wonder which demographic is supposed to fall into this and actually buy it; and worse, which radio station might feel inclined to actually play it. Valory should have better spent the money they gained on the original and "Just As I Am" on promoting newcomers on their roster and to push other talent at radio. I am truly disgusted...

Why did "Carolina" have to flop. That song is actually about something other than partying

Why did "Carolina" have to flop. That song is actually about something other than partying Went #1? Not sure that's flopping (unless you mean on pop radio, in which case I apologize). Haven't heard this yet but can't say my expectations are high. Most of these remixes suck.

Haven't heard this yet but can't say my expectations are high. Most of these remixes suck. I think they were talking about at pop. Not sure if it had a true impact with promo or anything, but I know it was getting some pop spins at one point. I'm actually more okay with this song, to be honest. That one wasn't bad, but the chorus was strikingly similar to that of Sick Puppies' "Maybe." At least this, while somewhat trashy, is original.

Listened to the remxi. The song already had a chill, hip-hop vibe to it so it doesn't feel as disingenuous as some of the other pop mixes. That said, it bothers me to no end that the guitars on the chorus seem to be muted in favor of this drum loop. It weakens the song without changing the vibe at all.
TI's verse is also one of the laziest things ever. And it's like 25 seconds long.
