Tim McGraw gets his 56th top 10 this week with "How I'll Always Be". The Billboard Country Update says "How I'll Always Be" is Tim's 57th top 10 hit, but I have him at 58, lol. Here's what I have for Tim's discography: 01 Indian Outlaw - #8 02 Don't Take The Girl - #1 03 Down On The Farm - #2 04 Not A Moment Too Soon - #1 05 Refried Dreams - #5 06 I Like It, I Love It - #1 07 Can't Be Really Gone - #2 08 All I Want Is A Life - #5 09 She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart - #1 10 Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It - #4 11 It's Your Love (featuring Faith Hill) - #1 12 Everywhere - #1 13 Just To See You Smile - #1 14 One Of These Days - #2 15 Where The Green Grass Grows - #1 16 For A Little While - #2 17 Please Remember Me - #1 18 Something Like That - #1 19 My Best Friend - #1 20 Some Things Never Change - #7 21 My Next Thirty Years - #1 22 Grown Men Don't Cry - #1 23 Angry All The Time - #1 24 The Cowboy In Me - #1 25 Unbroken - #1 26 Red Rag Top - #5 27 She's My Kind Of Rain - #2 28 Real Good Man - #1 29 Watch The Wind Blow By - #1 30 Live Like You Were Dying - #1 31 Back When - #1 32 Do You Want Fries With That - #5 33 My Old Friend - #6 34 When The Stars Go Blue - #4 35 My Little Girl - #3 36 Last Dollar (Fly Away) - #1 37 I Need You (featuring Faith Hill) - #8 38 If You're Reading This - #3 39 Let It Go - #2 40 Nothin' To Die For - #5 41 Southern Voice - #1 42 Felt Good On My Lips - #1 43 Better Than I Used To Be - #5 44 Truck Yeah - #10 45 One Of Those Nights - #1 46 Highway Don't Care (featuring Taylor Swift) - #1 47 Southern Girl - #2 48 Meanwhile Back At Mama's (featuring Faith Hill) #2 49 Shotgun Rider - #1 50 Diamond Rings and Old Barstools (with Catherine Dunn) - #3 51 Top Of The World - #5 52 Humble and Kind - #1 53 How I'll Always Be - #10 (so far) -- 54 Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me (Faith Hill featuring Tim McGraw) - #3 55 Let's Make Love (Faith Hill featuring Tim McGraw) - #6 56 Bring On The Rain (Jo Dee Messina featuring Tim McGraw) - #1* 57 Like We Never Loved At All (Faith Hill featuring Tim McGraw) - #5 58 May We All (Florida Georgia Line featuring Tim McGraw) - #8 (so far) *I know buffalocountry doesn't count "Bring On The Rain" ...but Billboard does. For some reason, the Billboard website doesn't list "It's Your Love" and "I Need You" in Tim's Country Airplay discography...but they do list "Meanwhile Back At Mama's", "Diamond Rings and Old Barstools", and "Highway Don't Care". Weird. Anyway, I'm 99% sure that 58 is correct.

Weird. Anyway, I'm 99% sure that 58 is correct. I've likely miscounted somewhere! The reason Billboard has him at 57 more than likely is they don't count "Like We Never Loved At All" as a top 10 for him. That's just my guess though but if we count "Bring On The Rain" then we should count it.

On the last Country Aircheck bulletin Big Machine posted an ad with "61th top 10 and climbing". Obviously they refer to all of Tim songs that reached the top 10 on Mediabase (and often Billboard) and before R & R. Since i'm not (yet) very experienced with Usa radio charts, please explain to me why it's more important, for the statistics, the Bb's chart and not Mediabase chart although most radio programs use Mediabase?Thank you for your answer.

I think many of us here prefer Billboard because their country charts date back to the 1940s, and for many of us they're still seen as the leader in the music industry. It's also a worldwide magazine whose charts are recognized by people in many other countries. But over the 10 years since Country Aircheck started (CA is Lon Helton's publication, which publishes the Mediabase chart), CA/MB has become just as important, if not more so, to the Nashville community than Billboard is. One reason that the radio countdowns use the Mediabase chart is because Mediabase itself is technically owned by iHeartMedia (the biggest radio conglomerate), and it's a lot cheaper for the countdowns to use Mediabase data than it is for them to pay for Billboard's data (basically, Billboard charges too much for their data -- or at least that's how I understand it). Labels will count stats like #1s and top 10s on all the charts because the more #1s or top 10s you have, the better it looks. But one of the reasons they really like the Mediabase chart is because it's easier for them to get to the top 10 or #1 on Mediabase than Billboard, simply because Mediabase's country chart is points-based, whereas Billboard Country Airplay is ranked by audience impressions. This explains why we often see songs peak at #1 on Mediabase, but #2 or #3 on Billboard...or you'll see a song scrape out a top 10 peak on Mediabase, but fall short on Billboard. Take a look at Big & Rich's most recent single, for example...it scraped out a #10 peak on Mediabase, but 'only' peaked at #14 on Billboard. I guess, for me personally, I like the Billboard chart better because it's less prone to manipulation. I prefer their audience-based chart over Mediabase's point-based chart for the simple fact that Billboard's way of ranking its chart makes a lot more sense to me. And I feel like the Billboard chart stands the test of time better than Mediabase does. I do think, though, that Billboard needs to overhaul their country division, because it's pretty clear that Lon Helton and the folks at Country Aircheck/Mediabase have been doing a better job (over the last few years) at "super-serving" the country radio industry than Billboard has been.
