eh, I don't feel like doing the commentary this time lololol. I will mention though that "Starboy" is the second song since the December 2010 launch of the chart to debut at #1 and stay there for a second week, the first being "Good Feeling" by Flo Rida which debuted at #1 and stayed there for 4 weeks. "Blame" by Calvin Harris and John Newman had debuted at #1 in 2014 and was really close to being #1 in its second week as well but was barely beaten by Maroon 5's "Animals".

"I Took A Pill In Ibiza (SeeB Remix)" has spent all 33 of its weeks in the top ten, extending its record for the most consecutive weeks staying in the top ten after debuting in it. It ties "The Hills" for the 5th-longest consecutive run in the top 10 and for the 6th-most total weeks in the top ten.

Sorry I've had a very busy couple of weeks (at least 12 assignments due or tests/quizzes over the course of the past couple weeks up until this past Friday). But the chart is back now and hopefully I'll be able to post the next one this weekend :)
Anyway, much to everyone's surprise (presumably), "Closer" returns to #1 for a third week following the really big first two weeks of "Starboy", which debuted at #1 the week of September 29th and dethroned "Closer" after two weeks at #1. "Closer" breaks the streak of songs getting 1 or 2 weeks at #1 ("Starving", "Heathens", "Cold Water", and before this week "Closer"). Previously, "I Took A Pill In Ibiza (SeeB Remix)" spent 17 non-consecutive weeks at #1 ending the week of August 25th (bad news for the song, details ahead). However, the streak continues of no song being able to string together three or more consecutive weeks at #1 since "I Took A Pill In Ibiza (SeeB Remix)". It's been over two months now! I like how the turnover has sped up so much on my chart, but at the same time it'd be nice to see another huge hit like ITAPII. 10/13/2016 marks the chart with the closest ever top 3, with only 1k points (the smallest denomination) separating the #1 song from the #3 song. "Starboy" was really close to staying at #1 for a third consecutive week in its third week on the chart, as was "i hate u, i love u" to being #1. Looks like there's sadly no chance for the latter now :/ "Starboy" gets back ahead of "Closer" the following week (10/20/2016) and spends a third week at #1 itself and topping the R&B Songs chart for a 4th consecutive week (now 5 consecutive weeks as of 10/27/2016). "Closer" then returns to #1 yet again for a 4th cumulative week with a 9.4% lead in points over "Starboy", which falls back down to #2 after 3 weeks on top. If not for "Starboy", it looks like "Closer" would've gotten at least 7 weeks at #1. I still love this song and somehow haven't gotten tired of the song, so it's a shame that the timing prevented it from having such a healthy run at the top (and a consecutive one at that).
Another noteworthy thing to mention is that "I Took A Pill In Ibiza (SeeB Remix)" falls out of the top ten on 10/20/2016, having spent its first 34 weeks on the chart in the top 10. This ends a legendary run in the top ten. The song ties "Shut Up and Dance" and "Thrift Shop" for the third-longest consecutive run in the top ten, and comfortably holds the record for the most consecutive weeks staying in the top ten after debuting in it. The song just hasn't felt as special to me anymore when I listen to it tbh. But there's still plenty of hope for it to be #1 on the year-end chart so stay tuned for that!
Bruno Mars returns to the chart with "24k Magic", which zips to the tpo 3 within just 3 weeks of being on the chart. The song is Bruno's 10th top 5 on the chart since its official launch and his 8th as a lead artist (this does not include "Grenade" as that one was in the top 5 just before the official launch of the chart; "Just the Way You Are", "Nothin' On You" and "Billionaire" likely all would've reached the top 5 in 2010 as well). It is his first chart appearance since "Uptown Funk!" which spent a record 18 weeks at #1 in 2014-2015. Will this be his next #1?
Maroon 5 also returns to the chart for the first time in more than a year, debuting in the top 10 on 10/27/2016. It is their 9th top 10 hit and first since "Sugar" more than a year and a half ago. It is also their 6th song to debut in the top ten. Could this song break the tie and give Maroon 5 their record 6th #1? Stay tuned...
"The Greatest" climbs one more spot to #8, surpassing the #9 peak of its predecessor "Cheap Thrills" (which most people on this forum know I am no longer a fan of and therefore I'm happy about this lol). Her highest peak as a lead was #5 ("Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart")
Last but not least, a certain someone on this forum got me to really like "Alone", which is Marshmello's first entry on the chart :) It is very rare for a song not in the top 50 on the Hot 100 to be this high on my chart. Having already reached the top 5 on 10/27, will it be the next #1? :O

Woohoo!! More charts from Mark!!! Wow, interesting Closer vs Starboy battle. I'd much prefer Starboy, but I'm not gonna complain if either is at the summit, cause both are damn good songs!! Woah, huge jumps by 24k and Alone!! Not complaining at all! :) Also lol, Starving is having a really crazy run on your chart Happy to see Don't Wanna Know debut! :) Glad to see ITAPII and Stressed Out still sticking around on your chart. And yay, ITAPII gets that record for most consecutive weeks in top 10 after debuting in top 10!! Mike definitely deserves all the honors Awesome weeks on your chart! Can't really complain about anything :)

What's your year end chart time period? I think this year will have 53 weeks counting for it. The first week that counts for 2016 year-end is 12/24/2015 and the last one will be 12/22/2016. Not 100% decided yet but I think that's probably what I'll go with

"Closer" stays at #1 for a 5th and 6th week, thus tying "Cake by the Ocean" for the second-longest run at the top in 2016. It's looking to pass CBTO next week, but it has some tough competition to face! The song tops the Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a 9th consecutive week.
Marshmello's "Alone" came very close to being one of very few songs to hit #1 without reaching the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. It had a very strong start to the week, but somehow weakened towards the end which gave way to Closer (which was still very strong) to take the cake.
"Starboy" is still holding strong, having spent all 7 of its weeks so far in the top 3 (6 of them in the top 2). The song tops the R&B Songs chart for a 7th consecutive week.
"Heathens" and "Cold Water" each spend their 15th consecutive week in the top ten. The former tops the Folk/Alternative Songs chart for a 15th consecutive week. twenty øne piløts continue their streak of being in the top ten, now with 44 consecutive weeks starting from when "Stressed Out" jumped 12-2 the week of January 7th, 2016.
Maroon 5's "Don't Wanna Know" featuring Kendrick Lamar jumps 10-4, then 4-3. It is the pop group's 8th top 5 on the chart and vying to become their 6th #1 (which would give them the sole lead for the most #1's among all acts). It is Kendrick's 4th top 10 and 3rd top 5 on the chart. All of his top tens were as a featured act LOL :(. He reached #1 featured on Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood (Remix)" and has so far reached #4 featured on Sia's "The Greatest" (more on that one ahead). I think this one has a good chance at being a future #1, actually. I guess we will see...
Ariana Grande scores her 8th top 5 and her 9th top ten and Nicki Minaj scores her 7th top 5 (3rd as a feature) and her 9th (?) top ten (3rd as a feature too) as "Side To Side" cycles up 15-5 in its 3rd week on the chart. It fell 5-7 the following week; could this mean it has already peaked or does it still yet have higher to climb?
Sia reaches a new peak as a lead artist with "The Greatest" (featuring Kendrick Lamar). The song jumps 8-4 in its 7th week on the chart (having spent its first 6 weeks in the 8-10 region, LOL). Sia previously reached #5 with "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart". She had reached #2 as a featured act on Flo Rida's "Wild Ones" in 2012.
I never thought I'd ever be saying this, but Rae Sremmurd has a hit on my chart. Fuelled in part by the Mannequin Challenge, "Black Beatles" debuts in the top 10. If you told me a year ago that I would be jamming to a Rae Sremmurd song, I'd have thought you were crazy, and yet here we are... Another thing: the song could be a serious threat to #1. I can't believe we've come to a time where Rae Sremmurd could be not only debuting on my chart, but possibly even getting #1 LOL.
RIP "Ride" and "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!"...

After long delay, I'm back! If you told me a year ago that Rae Sremmurd would have a number one on my chart, I'd have thought you were crazy lol; and yet here we are. "Black Beatles" surges 10-1 in its second week on the chart and becomes the first hip-hop song to reach #1 since "Panda" more than half a year ago. It was a close race, but it had a huge lead in the beginning of the week which is why it ended up getting #1. It also tops the Hip-Hop/Rap Songs chart for a third consecutive week (it topped two weeks ago even without being on the chart...there has been a deficit of hip-hop/rap songs on my chart lately lol). Will it be able to regain its lead and stay at #1 next week? Stay tuned...
"Closer" by The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey cedes the throne as it falls 1-2 with only a 7k point deficit against "Black Beatles". The song holds atop the Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a 10th consecutive week. Thus it remains tied with "Cake by the Ocean" for the 2nd-longest reign this year. Is there still hope for it to return to #1 for more weeks? Or will its competitors keep it away from the top spot in the coming weeks?
The Weeknd's "Starboy" featuring Daft Punk falls 2-3, having spent all 8 of its weeks so far in the top 3 on the chart. It tops the R&B Songs chart for an 8th consecutive week. It could be looking to get a boost from the parent album Starboy in the next charts. Will it be enough for it to return to the top spot and become The Weeknd's sole longest-reigning song on the chart? Find out soon...
Maroon 5's "Don't Wanna Know" featuring Kendrick Lamar backtracks to #4 from its #3 peak. It is the group's 8th top 5 on the chart. Could this also still be a contender for #1 in the future?
Rounding out the top 5 is twenty one pilots' "Heathens", which spent 2 weeks at #1 in August. It tops the Folk/Alternative Songs chart for a 16th consecutive week, giving the duo their 46th total week atop the ranking this year ("Ride" topped it for 6 weeks and "Stressed Out" topped it for 24 weeks). The song has spent a total of 14 weeks in the top 5 and has spent 16 consecutive weeks so far in the top 10. Will it become the duo's third song to stay in the top 10 for 20 or more consecutive weeks (and their third to spend 21 total weeks in the top ten lol get it because twenty one pilots)?
"Alone" by Marshmello rebounds 11-7 after having just missed the top spot a couple weeks earlier.
Not much else to note other than Machine Gun Kelly and Alessia Cara each getting their first debuts on the chart with "Bad Things" (featuring Camilla Cabello) and "Scars To Your Beautiful" (since I can actually tolerate this song, lol), respectively, so I'll just leave it at that and get going on the next few charts.
