Mark G.'s Top 20 - December 11th, 2014A bit of a stale week this week; not much movement except for the new #1, new top 5 and the two new debuts. It is notably probably the first time ever that not a single song moved more than two spots in the entire chart :O
Also, I'm gonna start doing flashbacks of top fives from 1, 2, and 3 years ago (and maybe also 4 years ago starting around February).
Anyway, back to this week's chart, Hozier climbs 2-1 with "Take Me To Church" in its 4th week with a 0.5% decrease to 203k points making this first entry by the Irish artist also his first #1 on my chart. It is also the first alternative song to be #1 on my chart since Foster The People's "Coming Of Age" barely made it to #1 in April this year. The song holds at #1 on Alternative Songs for a second week. One can only hope that the song will have the same fate on the Billboard Hot 100...
Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" featuring Bruno Mars slips 1-2 in its 3rd week after jumping 17-1 last week and setting a record for the biggest official jump to #1. It loses 18% of its point total from last week but still tallies a lofty 183k this week. This song had become Bruno Mars's fourth #1 and second as a featured artist; it was Mark Ronson's first. This song, as well as Take Me To Church will have all its 2014 points transferred to the 2015 year-end chart (as this is the second-last week of my 2014 charts).
Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" holds at #3 this week for a third straight week. This is its 5th week on my chart. It drops by just 7% to 167k points which is still more than SIO ever got in any given week (though there has been a recent point inflation as I have been jamming more lately). This song may or may not have its 2014 points transferred to 2015 year-end. I'm still unsure of whether it will be bigger in 2015 or not. Also, a silly chart fact this is a tie for the longest stay at a peak of #3 with Glad You Came, which spent 3 non-consecutive weeks at #3 and never went higher than that. That song's longevity enabled it to be in my 2012 year-end top 10. Also, Paramore's "Ain't It Fun" was #5 for three non-consecutive weeks this year (it fell out of the top ten at a point between each week at its peak #Rollercoaster). Also, "Don't" and "Love Runs Out" were #4 for three weeks (non-consecutive for LRO and consecutive for Don't) but they both later reached #3).
Maroon 5's "Animals" rebounds 5-4 and gains by 6% in points after falling 1-5 last week. This is its 9th week on my chart. It was #1 for 5 weeks tying it with "Fancy" for the second-longest reign in 2014. It has spent 8/9 of its weeks so far in the top 5 and all 9 in the top ten as it debuted at #8 in October.
Sam Smith lands his first solo top 5 as "I'm Not The Only One" moves up 7-5 in its 10th week on my chart with an 18% gain in points (making it this weeks greatest points AND percentage gainer). It became his first solo top 10 last week when it jumped 11-7, as well as being one of the slowest ever climbs to the top 10 on my chart. He has previously made it to #10 as a featured act on Naughty Boy's "LaLaLa" in April and #1 for a week as a featured act on Disclosure's "Latch" in July. It dethrones Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder" featuring The Weeknd on R&B Songs after it had led that chart for just one week; INTOO marks his first #1 on that Tally. Could it become his second #1??? We will see...
Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder" featuring The Weeknd falls to #6 after peaking at #4 last week and falls off the top of R&B Songs after just one week on top. This is its 3rd week at #6 - illuminati confirmed. This is its 5th week on my chart. I have not yet decided whether or not I will transfer this song's 2014 points to the 2015 year-end chart. It looks like this song could be the least successful song on my chart from My Everything.
Calvin Harris's "Blame" featuring John Newman falls 6-7 in its 6th week but continues to top Dance/Electronic Songs for a sixth week. Looks like this song will have to have its 2014 points kept on the 2014 chart.
Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" rebounds 10-8 in its 17th week. This is its 16th consecutive week in the top 10.
Ed Sheeran's "Don't" slips 8-9 on my chart this week. {Spoiler}It will likely rebound this coming week due to the fact that my frustration towards Thinking Out Loud peaking higher than Don't on the Hot 100 is making me appreciate Don't more Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" rebounds 11-10 this week. It has spent 17/18 of its chart weeks in the top 10. I don't know how much longer it will hold on.
Two new songs enter the chart this week: "Waves (Robin Schulz Remix)" by Mr. Probz at #19 and "The Heart Wants What It Wants" by Selena Gomez at #20. Waves is Mr. Probz's first chart entry and it spent quite a few weeks, possibly a record number of weeks, bubbling under before finally entering this week. THWWIW is Selena's second chart entry following "Come and Get It" which debuted at peaked at #5 in May 2013.
Meghan Trainor's follow-up to AATB "Lips Are Movin'" falls out from #18 after returning for a second week last week and Avicii's "Hey Brother" falls out from #19 after a random re-entry almost a year after its last appearance.
@smirjal surfy Mr. Thonk Eyes cause_for_celebration Flip Zeebz Daniel Collins sorry guys I know I'm way late with this (this is last week's chart) so here's the article and tomorrow I will post this week's chart.

Mark G.'s Top 20 - December 18th, 2014No article this week. But notably this is the third week in a row that "All About That Bass" gets exactly 51k points interesting... Also notable that Blank Space posts the highest ever weekly point total for a #3 song and I'm Not The Only One does the same for a #4 song (though Bang Bang got just 1k less in one of its weeks at #4; Animals got 185k when it was at #3 being 5k shy of what Blank Space got this week).
Genre Chart #1s
Rap/Hip-Hop Songs: "Black Widow" (16 weeks) R&B Songs: "I'm Not The Only One" (2 weeks) Dance/Electronic Songs: "Blame" (7 weeks) Folk/Alternative Songs: "Take Me To Church" (3 weeks)

UF again #1 so strongly! TMTC won't give up... I think IANTOO has impressed you more than SWM cause I never heard from you that SWM is a great song lol I love his songs but I am so unfortunate for him being gay :( (don't want to go to religious discussion at all! every body has his own opinion :) ) Waves is gaining slightly in your chart...It has a great potential! I don't know when you will listen to PIC! As you know it was my favorite song for a long time :) I should listen to Magic's second single it seems to be nice! Nice chart ;)

Mark G.'s Top 20 - December 25th, 2014 (MERRY BELATED CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!)Time get get caught up again. Sorry for the delay guys. Also this week and January 1st, 2015 have seen a big point loss and lack of movement due to holiday "freeze", if that's what you want to call it (I was busy with other stuff so didn't have as much opportunity to listen to during this time). Btw if my crediting for Prayer In C is wrong please don't hesitate to correct me lol! Year-end chart coming soon I promise!
@smirjal this is the perfect chart for you! well except for LMH falling :( Mr. Thonk Eyes Flip @jakelmmrs44 Zeebz Daniel Collins surfy cause_for_celebration

Mr. Thonk Eyes surfy there was a mistake on my 12/25 chart. #20 was supposed to be "Let Your Hair Down" and not "Rather Be". Thus RB drops out of the chart with 32 weeks total - the third-longest of any non-number-one song!!!

Mark G.'s Top 20 - January 8th, 2015Notes/Comments/Trivia:
"Uptown Funk" breaks the record previously held by Eminem's "Headlights" featuring Nate Ruess of the most points in a single day (55k, Wednesday, January 7th). It also joins the club with 13 other songs to get 5 or more weeks at #1 in the more than 3 years of my official chart.
"Take Me To Church" spends a 5th total week at #2 - matching the feat of "Counting Stars" and "Suit And Tie". All three of these dope songs luckily managed to sneak in a week at #1 *phew*. TMTC tops Folk/Alternative Songs for a sixth consecutive week.
"Blank Space" rebounds 4-3 marking a 5th week at the #3 peak - this notably marks the most weeks a song has ever spent at a non-#1 peak. Impressive! In bad news for Taylor, "Shake a It Off" falls 8-11 in its 21st week, ending a length 19-consecutive-week run in the top 10.
"I'm Not The Only One" falls 3-4 after peaking at #3 for two weeks. It tops R&B Songs for a fifth straight week.
Pitbull lands his 10th(?) top ten and Ne-Yo his 4th (and this is their second song together! "Give Me Everything spent three non-consecutive weeks at #1 in May-June 2011) as "Time Of Our Lives" jumps 17-6. Strange how every Pitbull song always peaked either at #1, #5 or at #6...rarely anything else! A very weird distribution "Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)" and Jennifer Lopez's "Dance Again" peaked at #5 and Rain Over Me", "International Love", "Feel This Moment" and so far TOOL have peaked at #6 (but perhaps TOOL has not peaked yet...)
OneRepublic likewise enters the top ten with a new song; "I Lived" jumps 13-7 and becomes the band's 4th top ten. It is the only one of the four thus far to not reach the top five. The previous ones were "Good Life" (#4, September 2011), "Love Runs Out" (#3, July 2014) and "Counting Stars" (#1, December 2013).
"Prayer In C" re-enters the chart at #8 and becomes the first top ten for all artists on this track. It also climbs to the top of Dance/Electronic Songs for the first time, dethroning "Blame" which led the chart for nine weeks ("Blame" jumps back into the top 10 this week after a big fall last week...it's growing back on me a bit now and in next week's chart I'll explain why).
Now that I appreciate it a lot, "Thinking Out Loud" debuts at #10, becoming Ed's fourth chart entry, third top ten, and second top ten debut. Expect a big jump for this song on the 1/15 chart...
"Ghost", "Lips Are Movin'" and "Superheroes" re-enter my chart - the former two at new respective peaks. Those two songs have potential for chart success on my chart as well...
"Bang Bang" falls off my chart after 20 weeks and a peak of #2 for 2 non-consecutive weeks. It is by far Jessie's most successful song on my chart.

Mark G.'s Top 20 - January 15th, 2015Notes/Comments/Trivia:
"Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars spends a sixth total week at #1 - making it the longest reign on the chart since "Happy" wrapped up a 12-week run at the top last April-May. More importantly, UF passes the record previously set by aforementioned "Happy" for the most weekly points since I had begun counting daily/weekly points on my chart! A big round of applause for our gentlemen who "funked" their way to a new chart record among all acts/songs!!! *starts the slow clap* Also, if this song gets one more week at #1 it will tie "Lighters" for the longest-running #1 with Bruno Mars in it. Bruno ups his total to 16 weeks at #1, including both lead and featured roles. Thus he is in fifth place for the most total weeks at #1 among all acts. Mark Ronson is only the third act whose first official North American single where he has a credited role on a song to top the chart for this long. Previously, PSY spent 8 consecutive weeks at #1 with "Gangnam Style" in September-November 2012 and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" topped for a record 15 weeks in December 2012 - April 2013 (Whilst "Blurred Lines" and "Party Rock Anthem" topped for 6+ weeks each, they were not the first respective North American singles of Robin and LMFAO/GoonRock/Lauren Bennett).
As it descends 14-20 in its 36th week on the chart, "Rude" ties "Wake Me Up" for the 10th longest ever run on the chart!
Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" jumps 10-2 in its second week on my chart. This matches Ed's highest ranking song to date. "Sing" also jumped to #2 in its second week last April. Could this be his first #1? TOL ascends to the throne of R&B Songs.
After spending the last four weeks at #2, Hozier's "Take Me To Church" falls 2-3. However, it tops Folk/Alternative Songs for a seventh consecutive week.
"Outside" by Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding re-enters my chart at #4, making it the highest ever re-entry on my chart. Previously, Lil Wayne's "She Will" featuring Drake re-entered at #6 in November 2011 (I think that was the highest previously). The song tops Dance/Electronic Songs for the first time and becomes Calvin's fourth leader on that chart (following "Let's Go", "Summer" and "Blame"). It is Calvin's 5th top 5 and 6th top 10 on my chart and it is Ellie's 2nd top 5 and 3rd top 10.
Meghan Trainor scores her second top 5 as "Lips Are Movin" bounds 17-5 in its 4th week on my chart. Future #1???
Ella Henderson's "Ghost" jumps 15-7 in its 3rd week on my chart. I can see this song being a smash...stay tuned!
No new entries this week.
Yes I am planning to do the year-end chart this weekend...sorry for the delay, guys :'(
