I watched "Shall We Dance" starring Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere two days ago, and I thought Jen's single from two years ago "Dance Again" would have fit there really perfectly, and I think I even heard a line from the song in the dialogue. Then last night I watched "Just Like Heaven" with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, and thought "Loved Me Back To Life" by Celine would have been great for that, as it tells the story of a woman in a coma who is brought back to life by someone else's love.
What other songs do you think, had they been released when a hit movie came out, would have been an excellent choice for their soundtrack?

The Killers Shot at the Night could be played during ANY Brat Pack movie in the 80s.

MAGIC!'s "Rude" would fit perfectly in 2005's "Guess Who" starring Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher. In the movie the future father in-law (Bernie Mac) has plenty to say about his daughter marrying a white boy (Ashton Kutcher).

Echosmith's "Cool Kids" (other than "AATB") is the most retro sounding song on pop radio. I could picture it in many a John Hughes movie from the '80s. Or in "Heathers"/"Reality Bites"/"Say Anything" etc...

You could fit most of Lana Del Rey's catalog into various Tarantino films over the years.
