Nothing would make me happier than if it was the exact same song with "American" and "Homegrown" changed. Same production and everything, it'd be hilarious to see how long it'd go before people caught on.

I love this song title and I am ready for new Darius music. I hope he can really deliver with this one and continue to succeed at radio. Outside of "Wagon Wheel," his last few years haven't been too impressive considering how he was doing when he started out. I'd like to see him regain some momentum.

Darius is one of the few artists that has crossed over to country that not only do I enjoy his music, but I also feel he is a perfect fit within the genre. I hope this is a strong song. I still never understood why "True Believers" never took off, that was a solid single IMO. I bet this song will at least sell well on iTunes because "Wagon Wheel" was so popular.

It's playing now on this station!!! www.live365.com/index.liveI like it, think this will be a Top ten if not greater. It can be a little repetitive with Darius saying Money, Money, Money, Honey, Honey, Honey lol. Other then that, I like it.

I loathe Darius's material, but he's one of my favorite vocalists (and one of the strongest), in the genre.
Crossing my fingers this is good; come back strong, Darius, please.

Where are the lyrics at? I want to hear this!!!! Here are the lyrics: roughstock.com/lyrics/darius-rucker-homegrown-honey/The production is clean and while contemporary, it still sounds like a Country song (actual fiddle, mandolins, audible in the mix) It's a sing-a-long ready song and it's a real ode to country girls. The repetitious of "Honey honey honey" and "money Money money" will certainly help this song sell.

Audio (sorry, another MB link)Not really liking this on first listen. It's catchy, but the honey, honey, honey, money, money, money part is really annoying. Plus, I thought we were starting to make progress on the whole bro issue, but isn't this pretty much just a bro song with a more pleasant melody. The second verse redeems it a little bit I guess, but it's still a below average single for Darius. I would've thought the success of Wagon Wheel would've inspired Darius to take more risks with his subsequent album, maybe make some more artistic choices, but this is formula from the word go. Still, it should help restore some momentum at radio, I'd be surprised if this didn't hit the top 10, and a run to #1 isn't out of the question.

Lyrically this does kinda toe into bro country territory a bit, but I guess it'll be one of the few that'll get a pass from me because I do like it and it's soooo catchy. Definitely not one of his absolute best songs and nothing new, though it should be a big hit for him and it's downright perfect for radio, and it at least sounds country -- the arrangement has a lot of organic sounding music in that really fits with the use of "homegrown" in the title. That tasteful production really seals the deal for me and his vocals continue to be pretty top-notch among his male peers.

Very catchy and well sung, but it's pretty weak lyrically. Won't be buying it, won't change the station.

I don't think that this is off to a great start, but I guess that's to be expected with all of the big name releases currently flying up the charts. I like Darius' voice a lot, and want to like him as an artist, but the majority of his material is quite weak, imo. This is another one that falls into that category for me, unfortunately.

Does the "did your momma treat ya..." line feel super awkward to anyone else? It just seems out of place to me. Otherwise this is nice fluff radio music.

I'm not a fan of much of Rucker's country stuff and this doesn't change anything for me. It sounds pleasant enough and the lyrics are a little stronger than the average bro-song, but there's nothing here that really intrigues or interests me. Also I can't stand the repetition.

Debuts at #25 on Hot Country chart, for what it's worth. It has been doing good on iTunes. Kind of strange that this song had better debuts on this chart than Dirt (40) and Burnin it Down (42) although obviously I don't expect this song to get to #1 next week.

It's because those songs debuting before their songs were released digitally. Their debuts were based off airplay for a couple of days only.

Darius is off to a little bit of a better start than I was originally thought. He's up roughly 1.5 million in audience on MB and nearly 280 spins. He broke inside the top 40 on MB (#40) in just his fourth week and has already gone top 40 on Billboard as of last week. I expect this to slow down, but "Homegrown Honey" is off to a relatively nice start.
As for the song; I like some aspects about this one - but the annoying repetition of the "Honey, Money" line really irritates me. I like the instrumentation and Darius' vocals, but lyrically it's lacking. Darius can do better to me, though I do think it's better than the vanilla "Radio".
