What I see happen a lot in these last-minute artificial-looking climbs to #1 is that the MB points are being earned mostly from added spins. The spin gains help in MB points but they have less effect on the audience-driven BB rankings. I can see the way that works for the song trying to do the climbing -- it's easier to get the late-night spins with their small audience and their comparatively low risk to the radio stations (who cares what record gets a spin every hour from 2 to 4 in the morning?). In fact that's a big part of why the BB rankings are based on audience -- it's harder to get the artificial extra audience than it is the extra points (which are based in part on spins).
Now Sabre's introducing a complication -- that the stations involved are likely to be MB-only. That's hard for me to swallow. I think they know where they can get late-night spins and they'll go after them, knowing they won't help much on BB, because they will help on MB. If they're deliberately going after MB-only stations, I think they're getting too complicated. And they're going to need the BB spins anyway, soon enough.
However, Sabre may have a point in this particular battle, because Darius didn't gain 125 to 150 spins overnight, which is a typical result in these last-minute surges. So maybe Capitol is doing something in addition to, or instead of, the typical late-night-spin maneuver.
Either way, I'm a big fan of today's RTT result.
By the way, when I'm doing my estimation, I base it on the Mon-Mon 7-day MB updates, multiplied by a translation factor, usually in the .8 to .85 zone but sometimes more discounted than that, that is applied to the MB audience gain/loss for the week. I am not dedicated enough to use a different adjustment for every song.

Does anyone know if the deluxe version of this album will be available in stores? To me it looks like you can only get it on iTunes or Amazon's digital music store.

"Homegrown Honey" lost 300k in audience today while ZBB gained 500k, so Darius' song will be a MB only #1 (probably shouldn't have even cracked the top 3 on either chart, but it is what it is).
Expect this one to fall and fall hard now in the coming days.

I would expect the thank you to announce the next single tonight too. Does anyone know if the deluxe version of this album will be available in stores? It hasn't been verified of course but he's mentioned this before.

Probably less than 50-50 chance of that, but I am hoping. My good memories of Darius are pretty much down to "Wagon Wheel was a great song" -- I'm afraid this awful song has caused me to forget that there was anything else I liked.

I'll pray for a #3 peak too just because you're so hopeful Zazie. :)

It seems a little odd that a second single hasn't been announced yet, I'm not sure what they're waiting for. With the album out already I would think they'd want to get a second single going to try and keeps the sales of this new album afloat. The airplay levels have dropped low enough already, and Darius is a veteran artist that I don't see suffering from recurrent airplay or anything.

Frankly I don't hear any definite hits on the album. "Southern Style" was announced to be the second single long ago and I don't think that's a guaranteed commitment but I'd still be inclined to guess that as the next single, which I can definitely see struggling to catch on. Capitol is probably looking at how tough the bottom of the chart is right now and trying to strategically plan a good time to release this so Darius doesn't end up getting lost in the shuffle or spending several weeks trying to take off in the 50's. I think Darius Rucker just isn't in a position with a lot of momentum right now and so it might be tough for a second single to get up the charts after how "Homegrown Honey" ended up being forced on radio just a bit, so it makes sense to me for Capitol to look for the best possible time to release a new single instead of just throwing it out there.

Yeah, I agree that Darius isn't in as good a position as it looks on paper. Sure, he's following up a top 2 Billboard, #1 Mediabase lead single, but his label had to do an awful lot of work to push it to that point, and there just doesn't seem to be much buzz/excitement over him right now. Even though it wasn't 100% confirmed, I still expect the title track to be his next single, but I imagine that it won't be an easy ride up the charts for it. Things are so crowded right now, and without the muscle of a 'lead single' behind it, I could see it being a slow go at radio.
