Guitarist Chris Walla quits the band, but the new album is out in early 2015, says Gibbard.

As one of their big mid-00's fans whose taste has updated with the times, I have to ask, do they still have a market? I'll be curious to hear what they come with. Their last few singles didn't command my interest.

I agree re: the format's climate. Death Cab's brand of indie stems more from emo/minimal power pop roots, however, which isn't really the type of indie doing well. Also, apart from Weezer and the Arctic Monkey's finally breaking through, the top of the Alt chart has been dominated by mainly new acts these days. I'm not saying this won't do well- it likely well- but I'm curious to see if they incorporate updated elements into their sound at all.

One of the most overrated bands around IMO, but I usually personal chart their singles in the 30-40 range so I'm moderately excited

Also, I'm excited for this, but I'm not particularly expecting a new song until at least the end if the year if the album isn't coming out until 2015.

Also, I'm excited for this, but I'm not particularly expecting a new song until at least the end if the year if the album isn't coming out until 2015. Indie blues/garage blues (Black Keys, CTE, Arctic Monkeys), Indie-folk (Mumford & SOns, Of Monsters & Men, Lumineers, Vance Joy), Indie/electronica or 'indietronica' (Chvrches, Phantogram), Synthpop/Modern New Wave (Metric, M83), Standard indie-pop (Foster The People, Bastille, Fun.), Guitar-drive indie-rock (Silversun Pickups, Kongos), and Mainstream alternative rock with at least a few incorporated indie elements (Killers, Muse, QOTSA, Foo Fighters) He has a point though, because the power-pop/emo influenced indie has been hit or miss (Bear Hands = hit, Smallpools = miss). This is all of course open to quite a bit of interpretation, and is rather subjective. I mean, fans of primarily heavier music could have a hard time distinguishing most of the bands I mentioned above.

Out of those, I only don't like folk, indietronica, modern new wave and indie pop.

I agree with the overrated part. If this song is like "You're A Tourist" then cool. If it's not and sounds like all the rest of their songs (sleep inducing generic indie) then please go away.

They need another "Soul Meets Body" if they want to revitalize their status.

I like most Death Cab songs. Some are better for me than others but occasionally they make a gem like "Underneath The Sycamore" or "Crooked Teeth" that I freaking love.

I loved "I Will Possess Your Heart", but not the 4 minute intro. If they can the pretentiousness again, it'll be golden.

I will follow you into the dark... Surprised you like that one. I would have assumed you'd find it boring.

Yeah, "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" is along the same lines as the "F*** YOU INDIE F****** POP GARBAGE BULLS*** YOU'RE TAKING GODD*MN SPINS AWAY FROM SIXX AM AND ATREYU" stuff that you don't seem to like much haha.
P.S. I'm just kidding around with above gag btw.

I don't know what it is but I'm just not as consistently into DCFC as many of their peers. They have moments but I guess Ben's vocals kind of bug me.

I'll Take another "Crooked Teeth" easily. That's the last song I remember enjoying from them. I'm reffering to any other radio singles after that, cuz I didn't checkout their last two albums.

I like it, but it's not all that radio friendly. But with Modest Mouse in the top 10, this should do the same.
