...but never as a lead artist.
I was listening to some Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam songs and realized that New York-based R&B group Full Force had a slew of Top 40 R&B hits in the 90s, and 4 Hot 100 hits, including the Top 10 "All Cried Out", but they were the featured act in the 4 songs. The lead act was Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam.
Then there's The Wild Pair, a duo who was featured in the number one song "Opposites Attract" by Paula Abdul in 1990, and the 27-peaking "Romeo And Juliet" by Stacy Earl in 1992. Like Full Force, they never reached the Hot 100 as lead artist.
Can you think of any more instances of acts with TWO or more Hot 100 hits only as featured artist?

The Cataracs? They have "Like A G6" and "Bass Down Low", but I don't recall any of their solo material charting.

Matthew Koma. He's had some hits in the UK ("Dare You", "Cannonball (Earthquake)", "Wasted"), but the two singles he has released solo have never charted in any country. You could even argue that about the US too. He's charted on Pop with a few songs, but never made it as a solo artist.

Yeah I had forgotten about the Glee Cast singles, so Jonathan Groff is another one, with 7 Hot 100 songs as a featured artist.
