Artist: Easton Corbin Single: "Baby Be My Love Song" Writers: Jim Collins, Brett James Label: Mercury Nashville Add Date: September 8th, 2014 Source: Country Aircheck It seems Mercury is getting Easton's name out there fairly quickly after "Clockwork" as "Baby Be My Love Song" will impact country radio on September 8th. I did the RateTheMusic survey last month and this is the one I was most expecting to be the next single. I loved all of the one's I heard but this one was probably the one of the most likely to be released next. Please let this be a hit. Easton is too talented to be discounted after one bum single.

I'll wait until I hear the studio version before making a final judgement, but I liked what I heard from the clip. Unfortunately for Easton though the charts are going to be a blood bath. I hope radio doesn't give up on him though. "Roll With It" is one of my favorite country songs ever.

I was disappointed to see Clockwork fizzle like it did. It is my favorite of his songs. Hopefully this one does well and gets him back to the top of the charts.

I really like this song. Yesterday I had somewhat of an epiphany. I was at a country music festival. 9 bands and Easton was the 8th out of 9. His band was the first that had a musician that played fiddle in most of the songs. And he had a pedal steel player. It wasn't until band #7 until someone had what I deem a "country music instrument" when Rodney Atkins had a pedal steel player and someone played banjo on one song. Up until then it was pretty much all electric guitars with the occasional acoustic guitar and keyboard thrown in. It was then I started to realize a big part of the problem that I have with a lot of current country artists. Anyone could sing "He Stopped Love Her Today" but could you imagine how it would sound with two electric guitars, a bass player and a drummer? How would it sound with out the soulful sound of the pedal steel accompanying the singer? And then I realized that while anyone can sing country music until they are blue in the face, but if they are not backed up by a COUNTRY band then it really isn't country music as a whole package. Something is missing and that something is big.
Now I know I've seemingly got off track from commenting on this single, but I think my coming to grips with what is happening with a lot of today's country music artists is why I love Easton's single even more. Easton is the entire package. Compared to most of you, I buy very little music (I'm not downloading it for free either). I just am very very picky in what I buy and don't have a big budget for music. So I don't own any of Easton's material, but after seeing the train wreck (probably a little harsh) that was the first 6 of the 9 bands last night, this may change the next time I put a purchase together. This single has country lyrics, country melody, sung by a singer with a country sounding voice and backed up by a country band.
And I agree with Long Live Traditional Country. "Wild Women and Whiskey" is a great song.

No surprise here, I love this. It's not my favorite thing Easton has ever done, but for radio purposes it seems like a good compromise. It actually sounds like it would fit in seamlessly on Joe Nichol's latest album, and that sound has certainly worked out well for Joe. There's still plenty of electric where there should be steel, but it doesn't really distract from my enjoyment of it, and the production is actually quite tasteful. Plus Easton's voice is so great and old school that it makes the song sound less contemporary than it really is. I'm not even going to predict how it will fare chart-wise, I thought Clockwork was a sure-fire hit, but suffice it to say, if this doesn't get Easton back in the top 15, it's probably not going to happen for him.

Great sounding song! Like it a lot. Hope radio really plays this one and that it fares better than Clockwork.

Loving this! Easton is definitely one of my favorite male voices on the radio right now so I'm hoping this would find success.

This is a pretty solid song. Still isn't as good as some of his other singles, but I still like it. I'm not too sold on it's chances at radio though :(

I know this was just released to iTunes recently, so sales will be rather front-loaded, but this one is way up at #20 on the iTunes country chart. It's one spot behind Cole Swindell's "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight", and Easton is currently out-selling songs like "Small Town Throwdown", "Dust", and "Day Drinking", as well as virtually every song outside of the airplay top 20 (aside from Maddie & Tae, who are at #10).
"Clockwork" was a pretty strong seller considering the amount of airplay it had, but it just got lost in the shuffle. I really hope that Easton can get back to at least the top 20 with "Baby Be My Love Song".

This hasn't grown on me like I thought it would. It's probably my least favorite Easton Corbin single. I still like it, but it doesn't quite match his previous material.
This is at #39 after 8 weeks on the Billboard chart so it seems like it will fare better than Clockwork's #32 peak. I just hope this song gets his album out. I need more Easton Corbin music!

This song is looking better and better in becoming a hit for Easton. "Baby Be My Love Song" is up another 54 spins and 100k in audience today and the past couple weeks have seen a welcomed increase in numbers.
Chart Points (+/-) Spin (+/-) Audience (+/-) Adds 12/1: +43 +22 -0.072 2
12/8: +288 +88 +575k 2
12/15: +413 +118 +1.082 11
*12/22: ? +93 +513k -
*Today: ? +54 +100k -
If Mercury can hold Easton's ground through the holidays and into January, I think "Baby Be My Love Song" has built up enough momentum to get at least into the top 20 and see Easton release this album.
* Note that today is obviously the 22nd but I just wanted to keep in line to what day the chart for MB is usually given out.

I forgot this was even out & haven't heard it yet but man , that title is cringe worthy. I loved the music to "Loving You Is Fun" but never could get past the lyrics. And I'm expecting about the same with that title.

Up to #27 on Billboard now, and the path looks clear for it to move to #25 or maybe even #24 on Monday. There will still be several songs that will wind up jumping this one in the coming 1-2 months, but I think this one's going to get into the top 20 and beyond.
I like this one, although not as much as most of his previous singles. And while I'm glad that radio is slowly taking to this one, it's also a bit perplexing, given that this one isn't selling very well at all, whereas "Clockwork" sold very well considering the limited airplay it got. I'm definitely not complaining though. I'm glad that radio is playing this one a bit more, as I'd love nothing more than for Easton to become a mainstay at radio. And hopefully its sales will pick up when it gets into the top 20 and beyond.
I also hope that the rumored March 24th album release date sticks. That's exactly 2 months from now, and BBMLS should easily be well within the top 20 by then.

I'm right there with you jhomes. I loved "Clockwork" and am still disappointed that it couldn't go further than it did, it's easily my favorite single of his.
I'm happy that Easton's going to get another hit with this song, and I even find myself liking this one a lot, but I'm not loving it and I could see myself getting tired of it in the near future if it takes long to climb.
I still haven't purchased his second album for some reason that one keeps slipping down my list of albums to buy, but as long as "Clockwork" is included still I'm going to buy this one on day 1.

"Baby Be My Love Song" has gained over 500k in total audience since Sunday and had over 2.6 million increase in total audience this past week. It currently sits at #21 on both MB and Billboard (26 weeks). The sales have increased, though not fast as I'm sure Mercury would have liked as "Baby Be My Love Song" is at #446 on the all-genre chart. I anticipate this to easily crack the top 15 with a decent shot at a top 10 peak, though the sales are still iffy with Jake's "What We Ain't Got" being the next closest one in the top 20 at #165 on the all-genre chart.
Overall, I'm relived that this one hit for Easton after the under performance of "Clockwork".

I am really pleased with this song's chart performance so far. Hopefully the label can push it further to top 10 IF possible. :) I've always enjoyed his vocals.
