Just 1 year left in the chart decade! When all is said and done, who will be Billboard's Artist of the Decade?

While Taylor and Adele seemed like the only logical options all decade long, and still may turn out on top, Drake has entered the fold. His dominance on streaming contrasts Adele and Taylor's in album sales. Adele was #1 for 2011, 2012, and 2016, presumably with huge leads (but as far as I know, wasn't ranked for 2010 or 2014). Taylor Swift has been in the Top 10 every year of the decade, until dipping to #16 in 2016 and #25 in 2017, and #1 in 2015.

Other artists named Billboard's Artist of the Year are Lady Gaga (2010), Bruno Mars (2013), One Direction (2014), and Ed Sheeran (2017).

2019 will certainly be big for Ariana Grande, continued success for Drake, Post, and Cardi. Expecting new music from Rihanna (maybe?) and Gaga.

Beyonce is only listed here because I am assuming she'll be top 3 this year, if not #1. While I scanned the 2010-2013 lists, other artists that could have been included are Nicki Minaj, Pink, One Direction, Jason Aldean and Maroon 5. But I think these are the essentials. As of the end of 2013, my PURE GUESS would be the below top 10.

Well Billboard will take into account touring, so i think you can count Adele out. The way I see it:

Lady Gaga might be in there if she continues with massive tours. Bruno is up there too. So is Eminem and 1D. I want to include Madonna in there as well.

Now if they don't include touring, Taylor still wins, but they included it for this year's chart, so..

Agreed - if touring counts (and especially if it counts retro-actively for 2010-2013), Taylor Swift takes this easily. She'll continue to tour stadiums on top of her massively successful albums.

But I don't think it puts Beyonce above Katy/Rihanna/Adele. Gaga definitely gets a boost if it takes into account The Monster Ball and BTW Ball.

Taylor's taking this pretty easily. Adele won't match her touring success, and she hasn't remotely indicated in being interested in trying. Katy and Rihanna, although both will end up high, just are not big enough like Taylor has been. Beyonce also hasn't been able to put up the commercial success or touring record this decade to match Taylor. I definitely think she could play Stadiums as a solo act, but Taylor's going to be doing the same thing, so she won't catch up.

Bump now that we have 2015 year-end charts.

Does Adele now have the upper-hand over Taylor? We knew her comeback would elicit big initial numbers but I don't think anyone expected this. Either way, these year-end figures + Adele's impending 2016 rank just further define the fact that they are the only options for #1.

Another interesting update is that Justin Bieber can now compete with Katy/Rihanna/Bruno. Drake gets a big boost as well.

Taylor and Adele undoubtedly. They both have the sales, the acclaim and the fans. Adele has more-massive success in separate releases while Taylor releases more often and she's always at the top. It's obvious that Taylor's my favorite but if there's an artist that deserves the top spot more than her, that's Adele.
We'll also wait to see how KP4 will do.
