YOUR TOP 15: Maroon 5 will debut at #1 next week, powered by hit single “Maps” and a TV onslaught by the band and frontman Adam Levine. UMG looks set to score eight of the Top 10, including Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Legend, which is surging this week thanks to being the 99 cent Album of the Week at Google Play. Here’s how it looks headed into the weekend: 1. Maroon 5 (222/Interscope) 150-160k 2. Jeezy (Def Jam) 95-105k 3. Guardians of the Galaxy (Hollywood) 50-55k 4. Ariana Grande (Republic) 45-50k 5. Sam Smith (Capitol) 30-35k 6. Now 51 (NOW) 30-35k 7. Frozen (Walt Disney) 27-30k 8. Counting Crows (Capitol) 27-30k 9. Bob Marley and the Wailers, Legend (Island) 21-24k 10. Miranda Lambert (RCA Nashville) 19-22k 11. Wiz Khalifa (Atlantic) 19-22k 12. 5 Seconds of Summer (Capitol) 17-20k 13. KEM (Motown) 17-20k 14. Brad Paisley (Arista Nashville) 16-18k 15. Ed Sheeran (Atlantic) 16-18k Technically, the 99-cent price point on Marley is offset by the fact that you have to spend at least ten bucks on weed to enjoy it properly. Speaking of which, can somebody reload this GPen already? (9/4p)YOUR NEW RELEASES: 222/Interscope's Maroon 5 will debut at #1 on next week's HITS Album Sales Chart with V, while Def Jam's Jeezy looks set to touch down with a strong retail bow. Here are this week’s key debuts: Maroon 5 (222/Interscope) 145-155kJeezy (Def Jam) 90-100kCounting Crows (Capitol) 28-32kSpeaking of Maroon singer Adam Levine, we're hoping for a cameo on the sitcom he's exec-producing for NBC about his teen dreams of stardom in the '90s. We miss our '90s hair. Well, all of our hair, really. (9/3a)

Nice, another number one for Maroon 5, another Top 3 for Jeezy. Is this his 1st for Def Jam?

One thing with Maroon 5 is that although they'll have strong first week numbers, the Voice is coming back soon, and as we saw with Shakira's album, there's a lot to be said for just having your face on TV twice a week. Her sales were always better during airings than during the rest of the week.

I'm disappointed in Jeezy's numbers, but not surprised. There really hasn't been any hype around this album like there was for TM103. It's a shame that he might not get a gold album this time around. Then again, this isn't exactly his best effort.

Solid opening for Maroon 5 given the success of Maps relative to the kickoff (+ MLJ) from the last album.
I'm not worried about them, unlike Shakira, they'll have radio hits along with The Voice to keep them selling through the end of the year.

Then again, this isn't exactly his best effort. I didn't even realize he had an album coming or had a single out. I wasn't overly impressed with the album, I feel like he's trying to figure out how to stay relevant in the game today and it's not his best effort.

Jeezy's hype has definitely subsided over the past few years, especially as a lot more people (with very different styles) have broken in his field.

Those aren't bad numbers for Maroon 5, still proving that they're the favorites among soccer moms. I expect Matchbox 20's album to sell about the same when they release a new project.

Unlike M5, M20 doesn't have a bunch of recent hit singles - not even Rob Thomas, so unless they come out with a hit, it will be tough to "match" those numbers. (However, they do have a core base - so they won't flop either.)

Rumour has it the shooting Young Jeezy was recently involved in was a show for publicity and getting his name back out there again. While those numbers exceed what I though he would get based on right now, his name got him that. However if he did plan a publicity stunt for 90k, be gone.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6236725/maroon-5-second-number-1-album-vMaroon 5 On Course for Second No. 1 AlbumBy Keith Caulfield | September 03, 2014 9:24 PM EDT The pop band's new 'V' will likely debut atop next week's Billboard 200. Maroon 5 are set for their second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as the group's fifth studio effort -- appropriately titled V -- should debut atop the list next week. The Billboard 200's new top 10 will be revealed Wednesday, Sept. 10. Industry sources forecast the set -- which was released on Sept. 2 -- could sell upward of 150,000 copies in the week ending Sept. 7. That should be enough to secure a No. 1 album for the Adam Levine-led group, which first topped the chart in 2007 with their second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long. The group's first release, Songs About Jane, topped out at No. 6 in 2004, while their third and fourth albums debuted and peaked at No. 2 (Hands All Over in 2010 and Overexposed in 2012). The new album's first single, "Maps," peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Aug. 9, and has reached No. 4 on the Pop Songs airplay tally. On the latter list, it's Maroon 5's sixth consecutive top five hit, stretching back to 2011's No. 1 "Moves Like Jagger." Elsewhere on next week's Billboard 200, watch for rapper Jeezy's new Seen It All: The Autobiography to bow in the No. 2 slot. It might sell around 90,000 or so.

Thanks for M20 "final" numbers - disappointing, but not really surprised that it had no legs. The other difference btw M5 and M20 is that M5 can garner Pop airplay - that's extremely unlikely to happen for M20. Oh, and TV exposure adds a nice little floor to M5. It's funny because M5 was headed down the exact path to HAC/AC as M20 until TV and "MLJ"

70%-73% drop for Ariana, better than I expected given a bit of promo last week, plus being up for pre-orders for a while. Hopefully a sign it will have good legs. :)

OMG at Legend, a new peak!
Jeezy's decline in sales is slow and steady...pretty much in line with the overall sales decline.
Awful for Brad Paisley... 70k in two weeks..not so long time ago he sold those numbers in two days.

I got the "Legend (Deluxe)" during one of Amazon's 1.99 sales - glad I did. It's definitely an essential timeless collection. So far peak is #18 on BB200 - I think that was just a couple of years ago after a sale. Glad it may become a Top 10 album - 30 (!) years after original release.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6243941/bob-marley-legend-top-10Bob Marley's 'Legend' Finally Heading for Top 10By Keith Caulfield | September 05, 2014 8:23 PM EDT Thanks to a 99-cent sale deal, Bob Marley's mega-selling 30-year old album is set for its first visit to the Billboard 200's top 10. A Legend is heading for the top 10 for the first time. Bob Marley & the Wailers' greatest-hits album Legend is on course for the Billboard 200 chart's top 10 next week. The album, which was released in 1984, has been a steady seller for years, but has never visited the top 10. The sudden surge in sales is owed to discounting of the album in the Google Play store to 99 cents. Normally, the album sells for around $8. Industry sources forecast the album to sell between 20,000 to 24,000 copies in the week ending Sept. 7 -- with the bulk of those sales coming from Google. The Billboard 200's new top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Sources close to Universal Music Group, which distributes Legend, say that Google is paying the company full price for the album. Google selects the artists and titles for its sale promotions and discounted Legend "on their own." (A "full price" cost of the album to a digital retailer could be around $7, say other sources.) Google regularly offers albums and songs at a deeply discounted price, or sometimes even free (they recently gave away Katy Perry's PRISM album for a short time). Those giveaways did not count towards the album’s sales with Nielsen SoundScan, or its ranking on Billboard’s album charts. Sale priced albums are eligible for inclusion on Billboard's charts, so long as they are not priced below $3.49 in their first four weeks of release. (Free or giveaway albums are never included.) Upon its release in 1984, Legend initially reached No. 54 on the Billboard 200 chart that year, but went on to chart a lengthy run on the list and continued to sell well as the years -- and decades -- went by. The album regularly sells between 3,000 and 5,000 a week, and reached a peak of No. 18 in 2012. On the most recent Billboard 200 chart (dated Sept. 13), the album ranked at No. 100 with 3,000 in sales for the week ending Aug. 31, according to SoundScan. The album has sold 11.6 million copies in the U.S. since 1991, when SoundScan started tracking sales. It is certified as selling 15 million, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (which would account for sales before 1991). Legend was recently reissued in a deluxe package for its 30th anniversary, though, notably, the reissue is not the version that is on sale for 99 cents. If Legend hits the top 10, it will mark Marley's second top 10 album, following 1976's Rastaman Vibration. It peaked at No. 8 on the July 4, 1976-dated chart. Marley's Legend album won't be the only exciting news in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 next week, as Maroon 5 are set for their second No. 1 album. The pop band's new V could sell around 150,000 copies, which should easily give them the top slot for the first time since 2007's It Won't Be Soon Before Long. Also aiming for high debuts: Jeezy's Seen It All: The Autobiography, which should start in the No. 2 slot with around 100,000, and Counting Crows' Somewhere Under Wonderland, which should debut in the top 10 with 28,000 or so. On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Maroon 5 and Jeezy are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. As for the rest of the Building chart's top 10, the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack is No. 3, followed by Ariana Grande's My Everything at No. 4 and Counting Crows at No. 5. The Now 51 compilation is No. 6, Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour is No. 7 and Miranda Lambert's Platinum is No. 8. (Lambert's album could zip back into the top 10, as it is currently sale priced for $6.99 in both the iTunes and Amazon MP3 stores. The artist's Twitter and Facebook accounts also linked fans to the discounted iTunes album on Sept. 2.) The Frozen soundtrack is No. 9 and 5 Seconds of Summer's self-titled album closes out the top 10. Marley's Legend album does not appear on SoundScan's Building chart, as the list does not include catalog (older) albums. NIELSEN SOUNDSCAN BUILDING CHART Rank LW BB 200 Artist Title 1 NEW Maroon 5 V 2 NEW Jeezy Seen It All: The Autobiography 3 4 Soundtrack Guardians of the Galaxy 4 1 Ariana Grande My Everything 5 NEW Counting Crows Somewhere Under Wonderland 6 8 Various Artists Now 51 7 5 Sam Smith In the Lonely Hour 8 33 Miranda Lambert Platinum 9 7 Soundtrack Frozen 10 7 5 Seconds of Summer 5 Seconds of Summer The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.

We'll get to scratch Legend off the list of biggest-selling albums without a top 10 peak.
