**Billboard 200 whoops. Not sure how to edit the title on my phone.
I find it interesting how Billboard would rank the highest streamed albums, and how they would combine those streams with album sales to rank titles on the Billboard 200. I think eventually it will happen. I am just not sure how they would do so. Would a stream for any individual song count towards the song's position on Streaming Song/ the Hot 100 AND count towards its parent album's position on the Billboard 200? Or is there a way to separate the streams, so that it any individual listens to, say, 6 tracks off of one album, those streams would solely go towards Album streams and not Track streams. I find this really interesting, just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas or if anyone else was intrigued by the topic.

I feel like they would take a look at all of the album tracks' streams and then use the smallest number as the streaming points (because that would mean they listened to the whole album) Example: Title 1 - 2,000 streams EVERY OTHER TITLE - >2,000 streams The album would only receive points for 2,000 streams. Sorry I'm confusing. But it would be confusing to do, so Idk how they would do it.

I wonder what percentage of people actually play at least half of one album on a weekly basis. Come to think of it, I feel like I don't regularly do that for the most part. At least lately. Maybe it would make sense to just rank the highest streams per artist and not break it down by album.

I feel like you would have to standardize what number of tracks counts an an "album". Otherwise a 4 track EP is going to have a higher ratio of complete streams vs a 15 track LP. And do you just discount the single streams from an album? Because otherwise you're going to have a lot of people streaming a popular single a ton of times who would really have no interest in listening to a full album. Does having one song with a million streams and 10 other tracks with practically no streams mean that you should get album points? I dont know.

Since streaming is designed to earn revenue for individual tracks rather than BB200; I think it would just be best to leave it with the Hot 100 for now. (Unless they come up with an album streaming app)

I won't be surprised the day streaming becomes a part of the Billboard 200. It really is only a matter of time. I am not exactly sure how they would implement it though.

The thing with streaming vs. buying is that buying is typically a one-time thing (unless you but multiple copies of an album) whereas streaming can occur multiple times over and over. I know this is a thing with the Hot 100 too but I feel like it would matter more for the album chart. I dunno. I guess I'm of the opinion that of sales got so bad that the album chart became irrelevant, it should be laid to rest.

Does having one song with a million streams and 10 other tracks with practically no streams mean that you should get album points? I dont know. If an individual streams a minimum number of tracks (i.e. 6 tracks) from a given album, that could count as 1 "album stream" in that week. Therefore, albums with fewer tracks would be ineligible. YouTube streams and streams of single versions and remixes on Spotify would not count towards the parent album's tally. Say an album earned 100,000 "album streams," using this calculation, maybe that sum could be subtracted from each of its album track's streaming tallies so that it doesn't benefit BOTH the album and the tracks off of it on Billboard's Streaming charts. I wish Spotify showed how many U.S. streams tracks earn per week (not just popular tracks). It would be interesting to see the number of people that actually stream whole albums or at least the majority of an album, at least. I'm thinking way too much about this lol

Looks like they went with a different route than I thought they could.
