I hope this can segue her into a new album in early 2015. I'm excited to see if she can branch out from the moody minimalist vibe of Pure Heroine, but doesnt sound like this is going to be much of a departure

I like this. Not my favorite by her by any means, but I can definitely see it working in the credits of the film.

Works great for the film. Nothing spectacular, but fits the feel of the book well. It has a lot more production in it than a normal Lorde song would. Not necessarily a bad thing, though.

I'm not very impressed. I've really like some of her singles so I was expecting something more. The dark, moody tone is nice but the rest is forgettable.

I love it. Damn Lorde. She might be more than a one album hit for me. I know this is just a soundtrack song, of course.

It's good, but not her best. She absolutely slayed "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" on the last Hunger Games soundtrack, so I'm a little disappointed with this one.

It's really good. Sounds similar to Pure Heroine but that's not a bad thing considering it's just a soundtrack but I hope she tries new stuff for her next album.

Not really catchy at all and doesn't go anywhere melodically for me. Should do well on alt on namesake alone and maybe a bit on pop depending when the movie is coming out.

It's good, but not her best. She absolutely slayed "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" on the last Hunger Games soundtrack, so I'm a little disappointed with this one. I think this is far better than that one. But then again I'm an unabashed Tears for Fears fan and hate how every cover seems to suck the energy out of the original song. Actually not sure why people aren't digging this - the verse is a little meandering (and her vocal affectation is a bit much), but that chorus is really hot. Far stronger in that regard than anything on the album but the singles, 400 Lux and maybe Ribs. The other thing to consider is that this is a soundtrack song, and it appears to be written that way. That "hot" chorus that I mentioned admittedly seems like it's better suited to bump in a theater than play on the radio. Reminds me of Taylor Swift's "Sweeter Than Fiction" in that sense (obviously they don't sound alike - that' snot what I'm saying). It's a song with a purpose beyond radio airplay (how we usually judge songs here). In general, The Hunger Games' singles have had nothing on the Twilight singles as far as commercial appeal goes. They seem more about fitting the movie.

Honestly, I don't get the lyrics. I keep seeing these articles talking about how well they relate to the book/film but I don't see it. I think there are tracks from Pure Heroine that would fit Mockingjay just as well as this.

"Glory and Gore" would have been much better suited.

Same, I was disappointed by this... still not too bad though.

Yeah, this is probably her worst song ever yet. It just doesn't go anywhere. That chorus is boring.
I am so pissed off at such a fast rise on Alt. Ugh. I thought we were in Lorde burnout mode.
Surprisingly, Pop isn't. How come it didn't do well on Pop today?

Because she's an alternative artist.

Because she's an alternative artist. meh. i'd say that this is probably her most "alternative" single yet, but it's still got too many hip-hop beats. i'd still classify this as "pop, but on the darker, more experimental side of the spectrum, like Lorde or Lana"

I really enjoy this. It isn't as good as most of her previous material, but it doesn't leave me disappointed either. Great choice.

I can't force you to like the song, especially since a lot of people are with you in not loving it, but this idea of it not going anywhere seems factually untrue to me. There is a very obvious crescendo -- it clearly rises from verse to pre-chorus to chorus. Sonically, the chorus is one of her most bumpin' to-date (the connection between the vocals and beat is heaven), but it admittedly does suffer from less relatable lyrics + a somewhat weakly formed hook.

I like this a lot but I think it'd fit better as the soundtrack to the Divergent series instead of The Hunger Games.

This sounds better upon second listen, but I still find it underwhelming.

Maybe I'll like this more if I view it in the context of the movie. Provided it is based on it, Safe & Sound and I think Atlas were sort of.
