I much prefer her amazing re-tooling of Everybody Wants to Rule the World from the Catching Fire soundtrack to this. This is very blah for me.

Unpopular opinion: I f**king love this song and thing it's sonically fantastic.
Not a fan of the Kanye West rework, though.

Still love the original.
Still don't understand the point of the Kanye version (other than it likely being a huge honor for Lorde, since she's made it clear she's a big fan). Nothing he did enhances the song, and the effects in fact seem like he was just screwing around with some random Garage Band sounds

I wish they were pushing this to radio, I believe it has potential but it seems like they aren't going to do anything with this at Pop. :(

I get the sense that there was some early resistance from pop radio programmers, and the label didn't feel like it was worth it. It is definitely the least "poppy" of Lorde's singles (but still has a very poppy hook), and that didn't necessarily make it an enticing follow-up to the chart disappointment that was Tennis Court.
But it's clear based on how the public reacted to it in the wake of the movie + AMAs/Tonight Show that there actually WAS a mainstream audience for this song. At the same time, major pop stations don't seem to be giving it unsolicited/early airplay the way 92.3AMP is pushing fellow soundtrack song "All My Love."

This is easily her best single IMO. And I loved "Royals" and "Team."
I can understand their hesitance though, I don't think it's very radio friendly. The intro takes way too long to build up and the chorus is more of a grower, not as instant as her other hits.

I heard this for the first time during the AMAs. Loved it! She also did a great job performing this. It was dark but effective. Despite the apparent madness, it was fully engaging

I am glad they are going to finally push this to CHR. I doubt it will be massive, but it is definitely worth a shot.

She better start campaigning for that Oscar nom! Her performing this at the AA would be hilarious. Maggie Smith will be all WTF in the audience.

Can't believe it took so long, but I'm happy to see it going to CHR.
