They both sold a lot of albums and were very successful and have performed in that Vegas resort.
Despite that, it can be argued that both have made little contributions to music, have little lasting songs (both of them get almost no recurrent airplay) although they both have an 'iconic' song (My Heart Will Go On for Celine, BOMT for Britney) due to nostalgia. Neither has real lasting influence or changed pop, as most (worthwhile) artists don't really cite either as an influence unless they're trying to be nice (vocalists cite Whitney/Mariah and dancing artists/performers would cite Janet/Michael/Madonna).
Overall both of these artists have a lot in common as you see, but who has had more lasting impact?

The flexible and versatile Britney :kii: Analogy most of you will understand. Who will the hot guy remember? the guy who gives him head? or the guy who gives him head, eat his ass, and open ups the bottom ? Versatility is key Celine is a f**king golden throat legend, no taking that from her ever, she is certified greatness, but everything else left a lot to desire. Sometimes a girl like me needs more, Britney gave me all minus the golden throat. She offered a buffet i enjoyed more regardless. TKO BRITNEY and then she left you dazed in need of a To bring this back to ME, she is like Coco. No real amazing talent just served U life, she had IT, that thing that everyone is mesmerized by and they not sure why? whyyy?

You do realize you made a post about Britney Spears and not Christina Aguilera, right?

When all is said and done and the history books are written, Britney will be the one that made the bigger impact. I mean, have you guys even seen her roadrunner impression?

I think I'd give the edge to Britney. Celine hasn't been as consistent with releasing records, and staying in the public eye. While My Heart Will Go On is easily bigger than any Britney song ever, most of her success was exclusive to the 90's.

I thought 'My Heart Will Go On' was a Cher song, and like Cher, had long since been forgotten. Meanwhile, 'Baby One More Time' is still timeless so like honestly how is that song bigger???

Britney. I think Celine always skewed older, so of course they were never competing. I agree that new talent rarely cites either as influences--they haven't inspired new singers like Whitney or Madonna still do.

Every new pop bitch has cited/cites Britney as their influence.
Hell, even Lana Del Rey credits Britney as one of her 3 influences.

The answer to this is quite obviously Britney. I love Celine, but Britney has had much more of an impact on music than Celine ever will. I don't even know why this comparison is a thing. Lol.
Also, I wouldn't say that "...Baby One More Time" is Britney's only iconic song.

I would say that Britney has had more impact overall, particularly in pop culture Celine has definitely had impact in terms of inspiring some to start singing.

At last glance, Spears was getting more recurrent play than she had been getting (bit a good amount of that was from 2007-present tracks). She certainly gets a lot more than Dion, who gets very little (and that includes AC radio, where you'd think she would get a lot).
Dion may have inspired some to sing, but I'd go with Spears on this one. Her releases have been better received, overall, too.

I'm no Britney fan, but to even suggest she's had a minimal impact on pop culture, changing Pop, memorable singles, etc is ludicrous.

Britney made so much impact 15 years later and Dancing Romaine is still pressed with baited bated breath.

I think we need to look at the big picture here...
It will be Céline. She'll go down in the history books as one of the greatest singers of all time, along with Édith Piaf and Ella Fitzgerald. She has an English language career AND a French language career, with the best-selling French language album of all time.
If she plays her cards right, she'll continue to be a huge concert act throughout the world for years to come.

Yes, Edith Piaf is talked about as much as you are here, so I can how it would be iconic.

Me personally I'd rather have mud facials in Louisiana with Britney while dirt biking. No time for french culture, but if Britney allows me to have a glass of wine or two, I'd greatly appreciate her even more. I have a feeling we will be moonshining it.

I'm gonna go with Celine. Neither have any lasting impact/influence (both are less talented and respected knockoffs of Whitney/Mariah and Janet respectively) so I can only vote based on success and Celine lasted a lot longer and is more successful even now

Britney Spears, I must say.
I more interesting poll might be which song is more famous? "Baby One More Time" or "My Heart Will Go On."

Britney and it's so not even close. The last time Celine had any wide scope of relevancy was probably like 2000. Possibly even as far back as '97 and Titanic.

This board is very, very focused on pop princesses, but I think this is probably closer than most think with maybe even a slight tip in Celine's favor.
