Grrrr at no sales figures: www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiYOUR EARLY READS: Souled Out by ARTium/Def Jam's Jhené Aiko and Anomaly from Reach's Lecrae will battle for #1 on next week's Album Sales Chart, according to the early tea leaves. Rapper of faith Lecrae is getting a nice retail boost from Christian bookstores, while Aiko is enjoying the momentum off her successful EP. Lecrae is now #2 on iTunes, while Aiko is at #3. (9/9p)

Here comesone of those releases for which SoundScan doesn't keep track of actual to-date sales because sales from Christian outlets aren't included in RTD numbers...

Without numbers, I'm assuming this is more of a (logical) guess based on iTunes than anything official.

Seriously guys, if a Christian rapper gets a #1 album... ..it'd be awesome. He was already slaying on iTunes at one point. Also, It would equally excellent for Aiko too.

I'm a fan of both. I don't care who gets it tbh.
Oh and Lecrae has pretty much crossed over. He's not really a "christian" rapper (genre-wise) anymore.
He's more of a intellectual/positive thinking/political rapper these days.

His last album debuted at #3 with 72K so I'm not surprised since he has been seeing an uptrend lately.

I know its just an EP, but Meghan couldn't pull bigger numbers? That's crazy. I would think she would be in the race for the #1 spot considering how huge her hit is. Smh

I expected more from Lee Brice.
6 albums should debut in the Top 10. Will Frozen fall out?

I know its just an EP, but Meghan couldn't pull bigger numbers? That's crazy. I would think she would be in the race for the #1 spot considering how huge her hit is. Smh Everything about the marketing was wrong. -- Wrong title. You call the EP something related to "All About That Bass." Not "Title." People know the song, they don't know Meghan Trainor. -- Wrong timing. While I know there's a desire to "strike while the iron's hot," a mistake was made here. The song is still too much of a novelty, so the press and exposure is still so specific to that song. The Jimmy Fallon classroom bit, for instance, did wonders to promote AATB but nothing to promote Meghan Trainor. A normal performance would have been better. In this case, they'd have been better served waiting for AATB to cool off - at that point they can say "here's what's next." No one cares about Dear Future Husband when they're still getting to know AATB. -- Virtually no advertising. -- The only promo that DID happen was giving away the audio of the three new songs on Perez Hilton, BuzzFeed, MTV and YouTube. -- No press. I've only seen a handful of reviews (and they're mixed), and you'd think people would jump on this, if for no other reason than clickbait. Media relations did a terrible job.

Busy week!
Pretty low numbers for R. Plant given the gigantic success of "Raising Sand" and top 5 debut of "Band of Joy".

^Yes. 10 albums are going to sell 20k+.
Only the Top 9 on last week's HITS chart sold 20k+.

I am not surprised with the low numbers for Meghan Trainor. She is new to the scene, her one known song is a novelty hit, and the EP had barely any promo at all.

I am not surprised with the low numbers for Meghan Trainor. She is new to the scene, her one known song is a novelty hit, and the EP had barely any promo at all. Realistically, the Meghan Trainor #s aren't terrible for an EP. Sam Hunt, who by all accounts should sell 40-50K+ when his LP drops, only did like 8K for his EP, right? But the # does look bad in comparison to the success of All About That Bass. We're not just talking about someone with a fluke, streaming-driven Hot 100 #1. This is someone whose song is all over the radio AND consistently selling more than 200K a week. The song will soon be double platinum, and the EP can't even sell 20K? Plus, we've seen a string of hot-selling EPs from people with far less mainstream success (albeit far larger fanbases). Fifth Harmony, The Vamps, Troye Sivan and Shawn Mendes all did much better. -- The Lee Brice number doesn't look great, but his album sales have never matched the success of his singles. A few people have been in that same boat - Tyler Farr, Brett Eldredge, etc.
