Madonna was the first big name to do it. Pulling a Madonna. Just like pulling a Beyonce.

Streisand has been #1 on Amazon for over two weeks. Could the legendary diva be the first woman to score 10 #1 albums next week?
She's got a pretty hefty promotional schedule. Well, for her.

^Depends on Chris Brown and maybe Tim McGraw, who is having a bit of a resurgence.

Streisand is #1 on Amazon and #2 on iTunes. I didn't expect her to do so well out of the gate digitally.
It'd be nice if she could crack 100k.

Actually, Prince was the first big name in which albums were blatantly handed to those who attended his concerts, for free. It was thereafter that Billboard changed the rules for such transactions, to require consumers to take action to redeem copies of the album.
Not sure why anyone would still be making an issue over something that is perfectly in the confines of Billboard's rules- consumers choose to redeem the albums; it's not just handed or sent to them.
We saw Cher's recent album have one of the most erratic chart showings, because of the intervals redemptions were reported. But, it's still copies of an album that ended up in the hands of consumers, who paid for it (in one way or another).

The Voice is back next Monday, I expect Maroon 5 to be hanging around for a while.

Lots of action this week!
Lecrae did better than forecasted.
The album redemptions really helped Maroon 5. Only a 51% fall.
7 debuts in the Top 10!
Meghan Trainor also did better than forecasted.
Look at two U2 Catalog albums re-entering!

The iTunes freebie must have sparked some interest in U2's catalog (not sure if any of the albums were discounted, too).
Frozen may have dropped out of the top 10 (we'll know with final SS numbers), but I have a feeling it will return.

Well, that would make sense. Thanks. I know it should be at the top of my priorities, but sometimes I forget.

I don't know if a figure was released detailing what the final sales number was for "regular" sales. Plus, that Prince album was released more than a decade ago, when overall sales were much higher.

Is Maroon 5 still using the Madonna trick?

^It's not a trick. Lots of artists have done it. Tom Petty just did it. He debuted at #1.
Madonna wasn't the first one to do it.
The Top 15 sell over 20k this week.
