I traditionally love Incubus, but their last album was extremely poor, and the singles were both quite bland. I was extremely disappointed when "Adolescents" came out, so I don't know how to feel about new Incubus material.

I was severely disappointed in that album was even more disappointed when Promises, Promises became their second single ever to miss top 10.

Excited, but didn't they say they'd have new music out in 2015? Seems a bit early to make this thread.

Promises, Promises deserved to go top 10. Adolescents...eh. Both were worthy, IMO.

I was severely disappointed in that album was even more disappointed when Promises, Promises became their second single ever to miss top 10. Should've been the first, because "Make A Move" got absolutely ROBBED back in 2005. "Promises, Promises" was just boring.

I'm looking forward to new stuff from them, but I haven't been extremely impressed with anything they've put out since "A Crow Left of the Murder." I would love them to go back to their "S.C.I.E.N.C.E" and "Make Yourself" style, but I'm predicting more material like the last two albums.

Overall, Incubus is an awesome band, but most of their epic material comes from two albums (2 of the greatest album ever IMO). Ever since Make Yourself and Morning View, i think their career has been on a downturn. Their not making terrible music, but they are nowhere near the epicness of songs like "Nice To Know You" and "Stellar".

I was kind of surprised that a soundtrack song was released instead of a third single from "Crow". But yeah, I barely remember hearing "Make a Move" on the radio. Also, "If Not Now, When?" wasn't bad, but it was underwhelming compared to older releases. I can only hope their new style isn't even slower.

There was quite a bit of a gap in between "Talk Shows On Mute" and "Make a Move". I do think they dropped the ball on promoting a third single from Crow though. Apparently there were CD singles issued for "Agoraphobia" (which would have been a fine choice), but no real push to radio. Wasn't a fan of "Make a Move" either - either of the other two Incubus songs on that soundtrack would have been better single contenders IMO.
Anyway, I'm with others in hoping this isn't a continuation of the If Not Now, When? style. Just couldn't get into that one at all.

I've always held that Incubus is such a nothing band. If all trace of their existence was erased tomorrow, would anyone really care one way or the other? They're not bad, but they've never seemed like more than "just sorta there". (Apparently you guys disagree!)

I wasn't a big fan of their last album but I do like Incubus. Light Grenades, Morning View, and Make Yourself were fantastic.
The question is how will they fare on Alt nowadays?

I can't believe it's come to a point where we have to question if a band that would in nearly any other era, be a sure fire welcome addition to the Alternative chart, how it would perform today.

The Make Yourself album was THE record that sold me on modern rock music, with "Drive" being one of my favorite tracks ever. Make Yourself was greatness as well, enough to make me want to go back and check on S.C.I.E.N.C.E., which I loved (but hate typing out). I even got Fungus Amongus, but that turned out to be just a bit too primitive.
So, I didn't think it was possible, but I found A Crow... to be one of my most disappointing records I'd ever anticipated. I've repeatedly gone back to give it additional chances, just never could get into it, even though "Megalomaniac" still ended up as my #5 song of 2004. But for God's sakes, they passed on a third single for a song on the Stealth Soundtrack??? Did anyone even see that movie?
I actually liked Light Grenades pretty well, and the two hits from If Not Now, When? were underrated. Wasn't really too big on their new direction that was kind of Triple A-ish, but they are older now, and sometimes bands do that. It's probably the best way to go now if they're looking for a hit (and throw in some distorted vocals and whistling too). Nah, I just hope it's still good and that it doesn't get the 311 treatment.

I remember "Sick Sad Little World" getting a bit of airplay after "Talk Shows On Mute".

they are hit and miss for me and I usually only like 1 song from each album. Make Yourself= Drive Morning View= Wish You Were here A Crow Left of the Murder...=Talk Shows On Mute Light Grenades=Love Hutrs If Not Now, When?= I think it was "Thieves"?
Hoping I'll like least one good song for thier next album.

There were radio commercials promoting it and I'm sure there were topics on this board discussing it/hoping for it.
They also should have put forth another single after "Drive" on Make Yourself, such as, the title track. Should have pushed "Are You In?" harder (it even made the top 40 with like zero promotion behind it) and/or made "Circles" into more than just an Active Rock exclusive (still don't understand what that was all about). They stopped A Crow dead in its tracks after only 2 hits...then they go and send "Love Hurts" to radio like 100 years after Light Grenades was released and it goes all the way to #1. Their promotion has always been head-scratching.

"Love Hurts" hitting #1 baffled me. Not only do I hate the song and think it's terrible but it was like two years after "Oil and Water" and used to promote a greatest hits album(and I usually dislike greatest hits promo singles like Foo Fighters' Wheels and Papa Roach's Time for Annihilation singles)

"Love Hurts" was solely because KROQ was playing it.

More Incubus is always good, providing active doesn't steal them like they're doing with every other band at the moment.

Ten years from now Active Rock will take Lorde because the beats are too intense.
