Bieber is over. Literally nobody likes him but his remaining fans. He got booed just for walking out on stage at Fashion Rocks. Public perception of him is in the toilet and I can't see radio jumping on any of his future singles. He's releasing a duet album now with Cody Simpson, I mean.... How dare he kill Cody's career Like how f*cking dare he

What people don't seem to realize is Bieber was popular in late 2012/early 2013. Then he got awful publicity because he's a little prick, and then released a boring album that got no one's attention... so I really don't think that it's fair to say he's "over", he hasn't even released a new single since "BAAB". Also, One Direction doesn't show signs of slowing down. They just sold out a stadium tour... I mean, I see them going for a few more years tbh. They seem like they can do it now that social media is a present factor in today's music business. He didn't undergo a Milli Vanilli-sized downfall, that's for sure, but to say he wasn't on a decline at the time is also incorrect. Believe only sold 375k in its first week, far below industry projections. It took nearly half a year to go platinum. Take Me Home opened with 538k and went platinum in 5 weeks. They beat him in virtually every award the two competed for. How is that not declining? About Cody Simpson, he launched his career when Bieber Fever was at his peak. Since all the teen girls loved Bieber he had trouble building a big fanbase in America. That's why he hasn't been very successful here. Now the same problem is happening to Austin Mahone, The Wanted, etc. because 1D are huge. 1D just got really lucky and are far less prone to being replaced than Bieber was. (5SOS made it big by affiliation with 1D and grew a fanbase in a way that 1D didn't risk losing theirs. Same thing with Ed Sheeran.)

It helped 1D's case in a major way that Austin Mahone and The Wanted are basic and released garbage material.
Anywho~
"Steal My Girl" is on iTunes now and already #19. #1 will be coming shortly.

#1 will be coming shortly. And it happened. I'm expecting this to sell 350-375k based on the preorders. I think a top 10 debut on the hot 100 is pretty much in the bag.

Well that's nothing new. All their first singles performed incredibly well out of the gate, only to fail to capture the interest in the long run.
I expect big updates for this only to hit a brick wall in the top 20

One Direction is like a fine wine, they and their music is getting better with age! They slayed in Charlotte last night. Best concert I've ever seen! The kids and the parents were all dancing and singing along, even a lot of the dads! But 1D's music is appealing to all ages and that's what is making them work so well.
I can't wait to see the first live performance of this song on TV. They will be doing the Today Show or GMA, I forget which one, right before the album drops in November. I hope to see them on the AMA awards too.
I wonder how long til the video comes out.

tekkenguy - And where did I say that he wasn't on the decline? I just said it's not exactly justified to call him over just yet. We haven't even seen what he can do chart wise since 2013 with BAAB... Unless you count that boring album that never had an official single release.

You brought up how Bieber was still popular in late 2012/early 2013, but made it sound like he hadn't lost any of his popularity and was still an equal rival to 1D.

That wasn't my intention, I simple meant that we can't exactly count Bieber "out" just yet. One Direction is crushing him in every way possible (except for negative publicity) but we still don't know how the world will react to a legitimate Bieber single...

The world was never there to support Bieber. His successes were driven almost exclusively by his fan base. I don't see Bieber doing all too well with new music, but anything could happen.

But his fanbase was inmense, and Bieber did what most teen stars are totally unable to do, a nice transition to adult star. Yes, Believe sold less, but it had really good sales, and he was able to make himself a radio hit artist. His three top 10 hits on radio are from that album. Unfortunately for him, that was the start of his career as big douchebag, not that he didn't get signs of that before, but lately is scandal after scandal. One Direction seem like likeable guys, and their PR really controls the media, even when they make obvious mistakes, like the video smoking weed and some twitter disasters, their pr is able to minimize the damage. Big update today on pop, but frankly i think the chart run of this song will be very predictable, and the fact that it's not number one on itunes anymore makes me think this could even crash and burn even faster than LWWY and BSE

It's not that hard to understand and in no way tells anything about this song, just that someone else has a ton of pre-orders too.

No one but Niall and Liam cared. It was hard to watch (and think that I spent 100 dollars on it) I think that 3 albums in 3 years (now 4) combined with touring, they are burnt out and have zero effs to give. It was just ridiculous, watching them boringly wander around stage. I'm pretty sure Zayn took out his phone and started texting during a song.

At least midnight memories is their best album, so expect growth here for the fourth album, but this song sucks.

Justin's supposed to do a duet album with Cody Simpson??????????? I heard of a possible Austin Mahone duet but not that.
Plus Bieber's last album was just on ITunes wasn't it? Wasn't it also songs that he had already released to ITunes? I wouldn't look at that last project when deciding if Bieber can still be a big seller or not.

Every artist has an off night. Its a little more than shallow to judge a whole tour and psychoanalyze an artist based on one night. I was at both Charlotte shows and all 5 were very much alive and engaged. They are only human and not robots. They get sick or tired at times and yes itll show. But same can be said for you or me at our own jobs. As for my shows in Charlotte they were at their very best in all aspects.
