It's about damn time! I hope she's the answer to who will be the next big female star on Country radio! As you know by now, every artist gets 'slotted' into a time frame and release schedule. Can't wait for her to get her shot. Let's hope radio will allow her to be a big star cause after all, there's one 'instant add' female slot now up for grabs (Taylor's).

This song sounds beautiful, and there's just no question about it: this girl has incredible talent. I'm looking forward to the studio version and seeing how it does. It sounds pretty country from that acoustic performance, so hopefully she can go against the grain and still have success at country radio with it. I can't wait for her music to come out.

So excited the very talented Mickey is finally getting a shot. Lyrically it reminds me a bit of Sara's ALBS. Upcoming On The Verge artist??

Girl can SANG! Hoping for success for Mickey. She seems real and genuine as well. Been checking out her stuff for months now, so it's nice to see that she's getting a shot. She was the one artist that really seemed to make a STRONG impression with the radio folk at CRS this year.

She was the one artist that really seemed to make a STRONG impression with the radio folk at CRS this year. It was actually CRS 2013 that she made a big 'splash' at. I remember a lot of us were reading tweets about her performances and we couldn't wait until she finally had a single out. Well it took a lot longer than we expected, and by this year's CRS I was just hoping that Capitol hadn't moved on from her (that happens sometimes--think Jackie Lee with Republic) since we'd heard nothing in over a year. But finally, yes!! From what I can tell she has her own publishing company (Mickey's Island Publishing) and she has written with a LOT of people over the last 2 years. They have really put in the time and effort to lay the groundwork for her, and now the radio tour and the actual 'launch' of the single are the last pieces of the puzzle.

Mickey is offering a free download of this song on her website!
From her Facebook page:
All you have to do is enter your birth date and then a valid email address. They send you an email to confirm your email address, and then you get a download of the song!
It's the studio version, too, and it sounds really good! There's even steel guitar!! :o
Sounds like this will be on iTunes/Amazon on the 14th then, which could mean that an adds date is coming up soon. I think she's on the 3rd week of her radio tour now, or maybe starting the 4th..

If I'm remembering correctly, hers was the country EP I enjoyed a few months ago while digging through new releases on Rdio each week. Really like her full voice and the instrumentals on this one too!

This is beautiful. But it sounds very country, so I hope that the good will from her showcase last year and current radio tour translate to some solid hype when this hits the airwaves, similar to what we saw with "Merry Go 'Round," or she may have some trouble with such a traditional tune. That aside, this is just a lovely song with an incredible vocal and production treatment and I cannot wait for her debut album.

Even better with the simple production. This has to be a hit, country radio needs something like this and Capitol needs to prove that they can get a new female up the charts. I smell the first female On The Verge.

I smell the first female On The Verge. I really want that to happen. This song is great and I would love for nothing more right now than to have a solo female artist achieve a top 10 hit at radio again. That being said; I'm skeptical at best about her being the On The Verge artist. I think that announcement is coming soon and "Better Than You Left Me" doesn't even have an add date yet. Plus that Washington Post article in which Don Poleman explained the programs origins and how it works, says that the songs are picked upon what singles will get the biggest reaction and feedback. Basically a "Gut Feeling" about what they think will do the best. As much as I love this song and Mickey, I don't want to give those iHeartmedia's PD's the benefit of the doubt to choose a new solo female artist with a more traditional sounding song since that's what playlist have been drifting away from over the past few years in country music. I hope I'm dead wrong though.

I love everything about this girl. I desperately want this to become the hit it deserves to be, but unfortunately I just can't see that happening. I hope I'm wrong though.

She probably wont On the Verge this time, but seems like the timing could be right for her to get the first OTV of 2015 which would be really amazing!

There's probably between 10-15 potential singles that could be chosen as the OTV single of the month. What would entice PD's to pick Mickey's? If its strictly quality than absolutely, but that's not how it works. I just feel that many are getting they're hopes up and that its a slam dunk Mickey will be chosen. Hey Mickey can break out without the OTV program (though it would obviously help immensely). It's not the be all end all if OTV never comes which I personally feel is a less likely than most likely outcome.

This is the best new female voice around, IMO. Just beautiful. And she is absolutely stunning as well and has a unique look. There's a lot that sets her apart from the other women struggling to make it in the last couple of years. There's something very authentic about how she sings/sounds. All that being said, OTV certainly wouldn't hurt.

"Merry Go 'Round" wasn't a 'conventional' radio hit by any means and that got off to a very quick start because there a lot of industry hype around Kacey's debut, a hype that I feel Mickey comes closer to mirroring than anyone else I can think of yet to release anything (going off the stuff like the raving over her at CRS last year, i.e.). I can see something similar happening to her, whether it's OTV-driven or not, and I do hope that's the case, because I worry that this single could end up struggling otherwise. As for the timing of this single's release, I can't imagine her team is planning to wait until 2015 to break her at radio if they are already putting this out for sale next week. At least, that wouldn't make sense to me for them to wait three more months to push this to radio.

At least, that wouldn't make sense to me for them to wait three more months to push this to radio. Good points here, and I would think that something like On the Verge selection (if it were to happen) would result in Capitol Nashville pushing up its intended early 2015 launch of this single (which was reported in Billboard's Mid-Week Country Update a few weeks ago in a Phyllis Stark column on women on country radio, if I recall correctly). But absent On the Verge, it could be that Capitol Nashville wants to bank sales and adds for this single for the next few months. Considering the difficulties for new females on the format, it would make sense to give the song (and Mickey Guyton herself) prior exposure on other media to get some buzz and sales going. That way, label promo reps may have some early numbers to sell radio on the appeal of the song and artist. And banked adds would have the strategic value of making a big first week splash, which could create a little bit of early self-reinforcing momentum. As for "Better Than You Left Me," I'm a sucker for a waltz as it is, and Guyton has a warm, lovely, soulful country voice showcased wonderfully by this song. Her phrasing is natural and inviting here, too. So count me in among those who would love to see this (and Mickey Guyton herself) break through.

Man , I really like this! And finally a "new" female song I can really get behind. Umm, Ive wrestled with a politically correct way to ask this and cant come up with anything. So Im gonna just shoot from the hip . Is she black , Latino , mixed or just dark complected? In anycase I really hope something this country can still dent the charts!

I really don't like this and I went into it listening with an objective mind becuase even though I enjoy what's on the radio I see a need for more female acts in country music as a huge problem. This girl looks the part and she has a set of lungs that she can really sing. idk if it's the arrangement or the lyrics I just think this isn't the kind of song that will launch a career that's gonna be long lasting.

I haven't been this excited about a new female vocalist since Carrie Underwood burst onto the scene. I hope she makes a huge splash. I am loving this single and think it's much better than her material on her EP.

I'm loving this song, listening to it non-stop since yesterday. I really hope this at least cracks the Top 20 eventually.
