I didn't know she did Idol! Interesting to see. Season 7 was a particularly great year for the show so I'm not surprised that great talent like her was cut, but I'm glad she's finally seeing her breakthrough.

WHOA!!!!!! "Better Than You Left Me" is most added on MB this week with 79 first week adds. The label calls it a 'record breaking' achievement. And that it is. "Better Than You Left Me" now is the record holder for the most first week adds (79) for an artist's debut single in Country Aircheck history. Source

Incredible first week adds. I knew she was going into her debut single with a lot of hype but wow. :o This gives me a lot of hope for the future of this single and Mickey herself. Hopefully her and Kacey and some other females can actually start to rise up the ranks at country radio and we can have more than just 3 2 mainstays. The music video is also very nice. It's nothing totally mind-blowing, but she looks great and it's pretty nicely captured.

I love this song and her voice. I feel like she has what it takes to be huge- the voice, the looks, and the charisma.

For some reason, I really like the part at the end when she's in the car with her friends and the car pulls over, and Mickey gets out from the back and takes over driving.

Late to the celebration of Mickey's huge first week of adds, but what a great statement week! I hope that it translates into sustained airplay and a bonafide hit. "Better Than You Left Me" is currently a bit middle of the pack on All Access's all stations Country Spincrease chart, and I was starting to wonder when to expect to see it chart on Mediabase. So for the sake of baseline comparisons only, I went back to see how the previous record-holder for biggest first week ads for a debut single in Aircheck history fared early -- that's the Swon Brothers with "Later On."
Like "Better Than You Left Me," "Later On" was at #56 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart the week that it went for adds. "Better Than You Left Me" had 931K in audience for the week, while "Later On" had 1.004 million. But "Better Than You Left Me" was up 831K in audience over the previous week, while "Later On" was up 480K in audience.
"Later On" first appeared on the Mediabase chart on Sunday, 9 March, after going for adds on Monday, 3 March. Their debut on the published chart for that week was at #47, with 1,723 points (+1,244) from 507 spins (+381) and 2.739 million in audience (+1.728 million).
"Better Than You Left Me" has a healthy list of starters (forty-two, I think?), as well as fourteen stations that have spun it ten or more times in the past seven days. So that looks good at the moment. Fingers crossed that it connects across the board.

I love this song. I am usually wishwashy with new artists (except Brett Eldredge) but I really LOVE Mickey! She has a unique quality to her voice. I really hope this reaches the top ten at minimum.

I'm really, really liking this. I hope it catches on and becomes a big hit.
Also, is it just me, or does this sound very Reba? I can just picture Reba doing this song, especially when the bridge kicks in.

Idk why but I just listened to this for the first time today.....and I've listened about 20768+ times since then... Stellar, one of a kind voice and a beautiful song. I would love to see her join the ranks of Carrie and Miranda someday. I feel like this isn't even the best song in her catalog :)

Wow. This only gets better with each listen. It's one of my favorites right now. Her vocals are incredible. I hope this is a hit for her, and I especially hope that she'll have lasting success. She deserves it.

Mickey will be top 40 on MB tomorrow evening with Kenny's "Til It's Gone" and David's "Kiss You Tonight" going recurrent - most likely at #39 - that's if Dustin doesn't re-pass her by tomorrow. "Better Than You Left Me" is up 1.2 million in audience this week with one day left to go. She increased 2.7 in audience last week and added 22 adds to her station total the past two chart weeks with a few more coming on Monday, I'm sure.
I fully expect this to slow down once it gets a little higher than it is now, but so far, this single could not be doing any better than it is now.

I fully expect this to slow down once it gets a little higher than it is now, but so far, this single could not be doing any better than it is now. I like your optimism here, but I'm going to temper it a little bit. Last week's Mediabase audience increase translated to just a +637K increase at Billboard...perhaps part of the overall poor translation issue that jhomes87 noted, but I did see that one of the Westwood One stations had picked up "Better Than You Left Me" for the first time and immediately moved it into medium rotation. So that was was responsible for a large portion of "Better Than You Left Me"'s Mediabase audience gain last week. This week, it looks to me like the lion's share of "Better Than You Left Me"'s audience gain for the week is being driven by a +31 increase in spins at the highly weighted KKBQ Houston station, where the song is now in top-10 rotation. That should translate fully to Billboard. Certainly KKBQ's support is not a bad thing, but I generally feel better about a song's prospects if I see more across-the-board conversions. I also wish that "Better Than You Left Me" showed more signs of resonating at iTunes, where it is at #68 among country songs. But it's quite a young song yet at radio, far from achieving a critical mass of exposure on that medium, and I'm glad that it will be picking up countdown spins starting next weekend. A TV performance (after that critical mass of radio exposure is achieved) would no doubt help with sales, but it may be better to wait and give the song a bit more time at radio. To go back to the Swon Brothers comparison (it shouldn't apply, really, but I go back to it because they also picked up so many first week adds and I'm trying to get a sense for early adoption rates after that), "Later On" was #38 on Mediabase in its fourth week after going for adds, with 1,026 spins and 5.702 million in audience and 120 adds. In its fourth week after going for adds, "Better Than You Left Me" was #42 on Mediabase, with 836 spins and 5.731 million in audience and 113 adds. Nothing hugely surprising here, but "Better Than You Left Me"'s early play seems a bit more dependent on stations generating high audience for a low number of spins. I'm not sure if Westwood One had picked up "Later On" at this point in its chart run, but it is responsible for a third of "Better Than You Left Me"'s audience over the past seven days. I'm glad for the early support, of course, but I will feel more comfortable about this song's chances if/when its audience gains reflect a broader swath of the country panel.

Yeah, I knew right away that Westwood One had picked this one up, because it was gaining a ton of audience on MB last week and not very many spins. I think Mickey has the worst Mediabase-to-Billboard ratio on the entire chart right now...she had 3.050 million on Monday's BB chart, and that same day on MB she was at 6.389 mil. Usually the ratios are between 0.75 and 0.9, and it's greatly dependent on Westwood One airplay. Mickey's ratio on Monday was only at 0.477, which is absurdly low, but obviously if her play count stays more or less level at Westwood One this week, she'll translate a lot more than just half of her MB gain over to BB. I do think this is doing pretty well but like 43dudleyvillas said, it's numbers have been boosted by just a couple of high-profile stations lately. It is of course still very young so on the whole I do think there is plenty of room for optimism. Mickey is certainly holding her own against singles from Dustin Lynch, Brantley Gilbert, and Justin Moore, and she's easily out-pacing Chase Rice and The Swon Brothers. New releases from Brad, Kip, Kenny, Tim, Maddie & Tae, and Reba have certainly made this a competitive 'tier' on the chart right now, though.

If you notice I intentionally didn't bring up the Billboard outlook, lol. In all seriousness, even though Westwood One has picked this up, the higher Mickey can get on the MB chart, the more stations will add it. Sometimes that theory doesn't ring true but with a debut single like this all all those first week adds she got out of the gate, it will still garner a ton of momentum to propel a single like this to have what amounts to a heck of a head start compared to most debut singles. Now that's not to say that the fine folks of Capitol Nashville didn't do a great job, cause they have, but this is kind of like a mini version of an OTV (there still immensely different I know). This isn't like the early to mid 2000's where sometimes hot singles can hit a brick wall after just a dozen weeks and stall in the 30's since labels are so relentless with their artists now and Capitol, judging by how long they've planned this debut, are in this for the long haul with "Better Than You Left Me". But getting back to your fine points 43dudleyvillas and jhomes87, yes we should have some "tempered" optimism, but my optimism is still relatively high.

Something has been bugging me about the lyrics in the last verse lately...apparently, the last verse is:
"Now I love deeper And I laugh a little bit louder I smile brighter And I fly higher."
But I swear, it sounds like she says "Now I fall deeper..."
Anyone else hear that?

^ I definitely hear love there. The part that got me was the last word in that segment. I always thought she was just dragging out the word 'fly' instead of singing 'fly higher.'

So what's the deal with this? It seems like it hasn't been moving a whole lot for a song that pulled in such an incredible total of first-week adds.

To be quite honest, while I didn't foresee it slowing down quite this much, I did expect this to slow down considerably once it hit the top 40. "Better Than You Left Me" has garnered 589k in audience over the past 4 weeks and has gotten 9 additional adds (with this weeks adds pending).
I really think Capitol is going to be heavily invested in this one with all the promotion time and money spent leading up to its release date. This is still a song that is absolutely not what's been popular on country radio lately; or really for a while now, so I think there was no getting around a slow climb here - even with the huge 79 adds on impact day.
Today wasn't a great day with 35k in lost audience but I still believe it is early enough to not get too panicked just yet, but yes, this climb won't be easy.

This is doing fine for a debut single. Just about no one climbs the charts quickly on a consistent basis these days so I definitely wouldn't expect a brand new artist to zoom up the charts unless their single was making some sort of massive impact (like "Cruise" or "Leave the Night On"). I don't expect this to go top 5 in the long-run but I'd actually be quite surprised to see it miss the top 15.
