It appears they've rounded them since then, so we'll do the same (as Jamie already did in the original).

I deemed that taken out of context it may pass. It's not that I disclosed the full weekly sum and or further details or the full S 0undsc 4n transcript (which I would never do, obviously). :) Just saying. :| Don't stone me. :) Figures edited

This has a good chance of becoming the first song in more than a year to crack the Billboard top 10 in just its 5th chart week (I believe Luke Bryan's "That's My Kind Of Night" was the last one to make the top 10 in 5 weeks, in fall 2013).
Right now I think Carrie's on pace to maybe sneak ahead of Parmalee and Tim McGraw. And with FGL, Brantley, and Chase all set to go recurrent, a +5 move for SITW would mean Carrie finishes at #9 on Monday's Billboard chart. It'll be close with Parmalee and Tim, though, so it's possible that SITW gets held to a 14-10 or 14-11 move if either or both of those songs stay ahead. It's even possible that Carrie can get to #8 but I don't think she'll be able to quite pass Big & Rich. Should definitely be interesting to see how all these songs fare over the next few days, though.

The video looks like it's going to be very good. It's definitely not what I would've expected either, but the concept looks really neat. I can't wait to see it!

They're releasing the full video tomorrow on Carrie's Twitter immediately after her CMA performance. At first I thought it was odd that they'd do that during the show, but now I'm thinking that maybe the performance will end into a commercial break so fans can go watch the video w/o tuning out of the show. If her team is really smart, they'll include something involving the AMAs & PCAs so fans can RT the video & the RT will count as votes for Carrie simultaneously.

To be honest though, Carrie has both those awards on lock, I think. You can never be too sure though!

Watched the video on my computer instead of iPhone this time. Very beautiful though I do agree with the comments about the few shots with the pulled back hair and her laying with the group on the ground looked a bit out of place. But the dancing in the water scenes are very nice.
I also watched her live performance on the CMAs and really liked it. Every time she hit the "stronger", it sounded so clear and pure. And she's really improved with her falsetto. I also liked the conviction with which she sang. There were several times when she would smile in the song and it reminded me of how far she has come as a performer from her AI days. She used to smile while singing lyrics that were not smile-worthy so you knew she was not connecting with the lyrics. The smiles in this performance serve as confirmation that she was connecting with these lyrics....she is changed and stronger.

The video is absolutely incredible. She looks completely stunning and the entire concept is totally unexpected but it works wonderfully. My only complaint is that she seems a little too conscious of the people dancing around her, whereas I feel like it would've looked better if it seemed as if she was totally unaware of the dancers and completely zoned out. But I live for the wardrobe choices in this video: I really love the dress she's wearing in most of the shots and the way her hair is done in the close-ups (where it's pulled back) is great -- she should do her hair like that more often, imo. And the body pile really reminds me of stuff I've learned about in like Ancient Greek or Roman history. Definitely one of her best videos and it only strengthens my love for this song.

This song is still growing on me so much. The video is captivating and flawlessly captures the energy and essence of the song. When she's laying in the water surrounded by the dancers, it's very symbolic of different forms of baptism all over the world. Just a very well done and creative video!
The performance... I mean, what is there left to say? I'm getting a great feeling that this song will be Carrie's critical breakthrough; like voters may actually vote for her for things? Or at least nominate her... I'd love to see this song earn recognition by the ACMs, and I think it will! Man, that would be so cool!
Whatever the case, I'm still so proud to see this song being so well received. Last night's performance brought tears to my eyes; Carrie's conviction and pride when singing the song was SO evident. She was glowing, and it was magical.

I'm not so sure Carrie will quite make the top 10 this week, since she's had several weak audience gains this week and Brad's "Perfect Storm" has been out-gaining "Something in the Water," possibly "intentionally" if Arista Nashville wants to keep Brad ahead so he can get his week at #1 before they try to get Carrie multiple weeks at the top. I guess this is kind of unfortunate for Carrie, since she won't get credited for tying with FGL, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, and Jason Aldean for the fastest rise to the top 10 this year, but in the long-run obviously I doubt anyone is going to remember.

Well ever since the beginning of the week with the Power Up Ads for both this and Brad Paisley's "Perfect Storm", the song has come to a complete standstill and Brad's lead on Carrie is growing as he is getting closer to closer to cracking the top ten as he is still at #11. My worry is that Kenny Chesney's "Til It's Gone" is gaining up on Carrie and could pass her if Arista and Co. don't get their act together and fast and Eric Church's "Talladega" is also starting to come up faster. Chesney is still a bigger threat to Carrie as he is not too far off from passing her.

After the recent clear-out, there aren't as many songs falling right right now (from within the top 10), so it's only natural that some songs would start to slow down a bit. Most of the big names will keep climbing fairly strongly but this week it looks like more stations have continued to power up "Perfect Storm" and "Til It's Gone" instead of "Something In The Water".
Kenny's song isn't doing anything on iTunes, though, so I have to imagine his song will slow down a bit soon (I do think it will go at least top 3 in the end, though), whereas I'm sure many stations will start powering up SITW again, especially after Carrie's performance at the CMA's and the song's corresponding spike on iTunes.

Taking out #7 "Burnin' It Down" because it's on his way down, there are huge gaps between #5 "Somewhere In My Car" and #6 "Girl In A Country Song" = 6.902M AIs and then again to the next contender #9 Shotgun Rider = 7.782MAIs. SR will overtake Look at You soon so I'm gonna overlook LaY for now. There are gonna have to be some big-ass gains coming soon. Um, didn't know where to post that but since we were talking about the charts, I snuck it in . Re: SITW-- I can't give a firm theory why it suddenly slowed down after consistently big updates. I would normally point to her label's usual go-to practice of letting the guys pass her + stretching out 2 singles until the next studio album, but that "Power Up" ad is throwing me. If it really is just a settling of rotations at radio, the timing is unfortunate as this is the week when there was a coordinated strategy for SITW to make a big splash up in the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs with increased streaming points from the release of the music video and increased sales from the performance at the CMAs. Luckily, she got a huge sales effect and those Twitter video streams better damn count. Too bad radio didn't cooperate.

Billboard has confirmed that this is the newest Hot Country Songs #1.
Sold another 84k downloads this week, surging it back into the Top 10 of Billboard Hot Digital Songs, landing at #8. #1 on Country Digital Songs.

How many people are predicting Carrie Underwood to pass her cohost of the C.M.A.s, Brad Paisley next week into the top ten?

How many people are predicting Carrie Underwood to pass her cohost of the C.M.A.s, Brad Paisley next week into the top ten? I'm on the fence. If Sony/Arista/whatever times it right, they can get both of them into the top tier of the chart at around the same time. I think they'll likely prioritize Brad before Carrie to get him a week at #1 because, at the rate that it's selling and gaining public traction, they may be able to get Carrie to stick at #1 for more than one week. It also depends on the competition behind the two songs.

Seeing since I've done a few comparisons between Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean on the mongrel chart, I will say Underwood is tops on that chart because she is #1 in sales as noted in the post I'm quoting, #3 in streaming, and #13 in airplay. Congratulations on your first solo #1 on that chart.

How many people are predicting Carrie Underwood to pass her cohost of the C.M.A.s, Brad Paisley next week into the top ten? I'm not convinced that "Something in the Water" will hold off "Til It's Gone" this week, never mind pass "Perfect Storm" next week. Whether because Sony Nashville is deliberately slowing this one down to let Brad (and perhaps Kenny) go up first, because country radio doesn't want three singles with lead female voices in top-10 rotation, or because the youngest approaching song is simply being made to wait its turn prior to being moved into top-10 rotation, this is the second consecutive week that "Something in the Water" has seen mediocre updates at radio. It's odd timing, considering the indications (i.e., sales, callout, streams) of the song's strong and growing public resonance.
